Peachy Keen Guest Designer Week 22, Day 2!

---Day 2 Post from Peachy Keen Blog -- :)

Hello again! First things first... Remember yesterday how I mentioned the beautiful weather in Wisconsin? Let me take that back! We have heat advisories out for the next two days and then back into the 50/60's on Thursday. Apparently I spoke too soon. :) Okay, enough about the crazy weather...

Today I decided that I need to take a few minutes and make a baby card for one of my BFF's who just had a sweet little baby girl. This was a bit of a challenge because my friend does not love pastels and even more specifically, pastel pink. I kept it to a minimum by using brightly colored patterned paper with a very little sprinkle of pinks. :) What do you think?
Photobucket
Oh and the super sweet PK-222 Happy-Go-Lucky Elephant... one of my faves!
Photobucket
That bow on the card isn't just an ordinary bow. It is fully equipped with an alligator clip on the back and ready to be tucked into some of that new-baby-smelling hair. I make hairbows... it's kind of my 'thing'. So I have been adding a small one to baby girl cards that I have made lately. Every little girl needs a pretty hair bow! :) Even if you can't make your own hair bows, this would be a super easy gift to whip up for a new baby girl! Buy a few bows to add to the card and VOILA! But if you don't want to add bows... it's still a fun card with a super cute elephant!
Photobucket

Supplies I used:
PK-222 Happy-Go-Lucky Elephant
Little Girl (all patterned paper and cardstock sticker 'cutie pie') by Echo Park Paper
Kraft cardstock by Bazzill
Button by BasicGrey
Ribbon by Offray
gellyroll white pen
COPIC markers
Tuxedo Black Memento ink
Lilac Twine from the Twinery

That's all I have for today... but don't forget about that sweet candy!

To be entered into the drawing please leave a note on this blog post and also on my blog. You will have five days to leave a note, so that is five chances to win! :) I will use random.org to pick which day and post for the winner. I will draw and announce the winner on my blog on Saturday June 11th.

Have a great Tuesday! Thanks for checking out my project today!

Shelter animals have a place near and dear to my heart. My lovely pal, Spock, came to us from a local no-kill shelter: Saving Paws. He is the most lovable cat, great with children, and many of our friends and family have tried to steal him and/or clone him at times. We could not have been more blessed with such a wonderful furry friend. The amazing part is 1.) I convinced my husband to get a cat and 2.) I'm actually more of a "dog person". But I seriously love this cat. He's great, our "Spock-kitty", as my children lovingly refer to him.

Using orange to represent the ASPCA colors and awareness this month was a bit of a challenge for me! I definitely do NOT gravitate towards that color. Thanks for this challenge, Abby!

I chose the Max & Whiskers line by Basic Grey and the "Life is not Perfect" stamp set by Hero Arts as my jumping off points and just ran with it. I hope you enjoy my creations!

Feel the Love Blog Hop!

Hey friends - not much time to papercraft in the past week or so here. We're all healthy (finally!) in our house, but I'm playing catch up! I'll get back at it sooner than later... starting with the blog hop! ***Make sure you go all the way to bottom of this post so you can try to win some BLOG CANDY!***

Feel the Love Blog Hop!
If you arrived here from Nikki's blog - The Glamorous Side of Scrapping then you are in the right place!

I made some fun 3"x3" valentines cards for my neices, nephews, and other random people we like to give sweets to. :) We have heart-shaped cookie pops slated on our "to-do" list next week, complete with multi-colored heart sprinkles and that fun glittery sprinkle stuff. Should be a good time! Anyway, I need some little cards to put with them, of course! Most of these cards are going to kids, so I wanted them to have some sparkles but keep it simple... I made lots...

Scraps!

Here's a fun little card I made this morning while my daughter was doing her schoolwork by herself for about 20 minutes. I'm trying to use up some scraps, but I have this crazy memory though and about 95% of the time (even if a piece of paper is cut into five chunks) I can still remember the brand name.

I used the Cricut Cartridge 'Simply Sweet' to cut the hearts out of the striped patterned paper and simple flipped one over and ran my Tim Holtz 'Fired Brick' ink pad over it to saturate it with that red color. Then, after I hit the heart with a little heat to dry it quickly (I'm impatient), I sprayed it with some bubble gum pink Glimmer mist so it would sparkle a bit. Tie some twine around the heart and I decided to keep it simple and throw the card together. :)

First Music Monday

Angelica from www.handmadebyangelica.com and Erin from www.erinleecreative.com have started a Music Monday Challenge

I decided to play along since I was crafting a bit this afternoon. I did more of a generic Valentine's Day theme for my card, but none the less I'm sure my sweet husband will like it. :) This is probably the simplest card I've made in a long time, but I wanted to play with my new stamps, too! I didn't really do any fun techniques with this one... but I wanted the bird cage and birds to look a little more worn... so I didn't press very hard on the image. Thats all. :)

Crate Paper

I have a lot of Crate Paper now and I have yet to use any of it. This line just screams "little boy" pictures to me, even though its called 'Brook'. Loooooove the vibrant colors and all of the fun curves and textures in the paper.
Anyway, sorry for the critique on Crate Paper - but their paper is fantastic. Really. Get some today! :)

Here's my layout of my little guy last summer... he wasn't so sure if he liked sitting in the grass but he loved watching all of the animals and was very curious what was going on in the bushes!
