New Year's Resolution

I think I should try harder!
How many times did I have that said about me during my school day I wonder... probably more than was good for me... but now I really think that I should try harder to join in with more challenges.#
Since the advent of "Less is More", I seem to have spent progressively less time on other challenges and I really think that I should remedy that.
Here goes with my first for 2013
Here is the sketch for Retro Sketches #44
I chose an odd piece of kraft card which was lurking in a drawer together with a piece of Pink Petticoat paper, printed long ago. (Another resolution is to try to use more of my  accumulated stash)
The small section was embossed with what I think is a Cuttlebug border EF and stitched with real stitching... there's another resolution... with my new desk I now have room for my sewing machine in my craft room, so I have no excuse not to use it.
The sentiment is Stampin' Up mounted on a Sizzix Framelit diecut.
Job Done!

Retro Sketches #14

Loving simplicity as I do, the sketches by Arielle at Retro Sketches really appeal to me... and this week's is no exception. In fact it is similar to a design I use very frequently and is not too dissimilar to one we had at "Less is More" some weeks ago.

My version uses a  strip of Harlequin DP from Pink Petticoat mounted on a strip of card with the edges embossed with an embossing stylus to give a rounded and more finished look to them. The flower is from Prickley Pear as is the die which was used to cut it out. It's adorned with a stamen punchout plus a gem and the simple sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

At weigh in yesterday, I hit the 50 lb loss mark and have just 7 lbs to go to reach my target. What I have lost is more than the equivalent of carrying my granddaughter around with me all the time... what a strain that must have been on my heart and all my other vital organs... to say nothing of the effect on my knees and back etc.. When I get to target, I'll post a pic of the new me!
Slimming World does do an online programme in the USA. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll forward your email address to them. It's certainly working for me!

Retro Sketches

I recently came across the challenge called Retro Sketches.

Here is this week's sketch, which has been used for several entries to "Less is More" for the yellow challenge this week.
Needless to say I haven't used the colour from LIM but I thought I would use the colours from The Sunday Stamper Week 204 which are Blue and Brown

I don't know the make of the Paisley stamp, but the Paisley embossing folder is from Cuttlebug, the butterfly is from Stampin' Up and the sentiment from Hero Arts... quite a mixed bunch!

I hope the weather warms up soon!
