What a chillul Hashem, and so wrong - FBI arrests dozens in corruption scandal:
Why can't people learn to just do things right. Dishonesty/thievery among Rabbonim? What a great example they're setting. The mayors of two major New Jersey cities and an assemblyman are under arrest Thursday as part of a major corruption and international money laundering conspiracy probe.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says approximately 30 arrests have occurred in the two-track investigation.
They include Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III and Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell.
The federal prosecutor says arrests that are part of the money-laundering investigation include several rabbis in New York and New Jersey.
Here's the link on Yeshiva World- they have more info.

Honestly, this is becoming less surprising and shocking
ReplyDeleteI feel like it is such a cycle. The cycle of entitlement that leads to debt that leads to desperation that leads to crime that leads to righteous indignation...that leads to entitlement...Nowhere in the Torah was it said that we are allowed to commit crimes in order to keep our way of living the same. Perhaps it is time to re-think the way we live.
ReplyDeleteNMF#7: the comments that people are posting in response to that article are so offensive! What is wrong with people? One lady actually said something to the affect of, "Well, I am sure that if they did steal the money, they weren't wasting it like the goyim but using it for Torah..." as if that was ok. Who put this in anyone's head that stealing is okay?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Kiddush Hashem [/sarcasm] (if you couldn't tell)
ReplyDeleteRL - That's so sad.
ReplyDeleteWell. I just included the link. Not to say stealing is okay. It's wrong.
ReplyDeleteBut they did money laundering. Which meant taking money, disguising it as a charitable deduction, and then giving it back. And another guy was involved in selling organs for money.
Major Chillul Hashem.
NM7...Oh, I didn't mean you approved! I'm sorry if I implied that. I just meant that the responses to the article were insane and totally out of line. It is bad enough to have Jewish people as theives in national news, but Gd forbid our rally cry be "At least we aren't as bad as the goyim!" Shabbat Shalom!
