I have a feeling...

 {It's Spring in February!}
Not that tonight's gonna be a good night, as the Black Eye'd Peas sing, but that this year is going to be THE  year.

Having turned the grand number of 27 on the 27th of February, this is my birthday year. What that entails, I'm not entirely sure, but as my friend Connie has told me, it is destined to be full of  luck.

I can handle that.

And great things have already happened. I'm living in a beautiful part of the country, winter has been spring, I have awesome friends, two dear friends are now married, and I've landed my dream job which I'll be starting the beginning of May. I don't think it can get much better than that, but you know, if it does, I won't complain.

Here's to birthday years, especially this one!

Birthday in the Big Apple

Yes, I had a birthday. And no, I wasn't too excited about it. Last year I hit quarter century (the big 25), and frankly the thought of turning 26 was a bit much. At least 25 still sounds somewhat young, but 26 is over the hump--I'm now headed into my late 20s. The funny this is, I'm really not one of those people who dreads birthdays, but this year was a bit different. I'm in a new place, with not a lot of friends, away from home. And as far as I know, no one was aware that my birthday was even coming up. If I were still in Taiwan, I know exactly what I would have done, but being in DC I was a bit stumped.

But then I had a fabulous idea...why not go to New York? So I did...

And I had a glorious time with my one of my oldest friends, Ilene (Ilene and I have known each other since 4th grade when we played on the same softball team. She has an amazing arm!). Ilene and her friends took me around to all the sights, and treated me to a sweet birthday, complete with a scrumptious cupcake from Magnolia Bakery.

So this birthday, which I though was going to be bummer, ended up being one of my best ones ever!

Three cheers for Ilene who is a great friend and made my birthday so memorable!!!

Love Actually is All Around

So it's February, my very favorite month of the year. It could be because my birthday happens to be at the very end, or it could be because we get to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. As long as I can remember, my birthday and Valentine's Day seemed to go hand in hand. Let me explain--basically I had all kinds of Valentine's Day themed birthday parties.

I can't say that I'm an expert on love, but I can say that I do love love. I'm kind of a sucker for it actually. I love love songs, love poems, movies about love, books about love--love makes the world go round. And as the Beatles say, "All you need is love."

So for this said holiday, I've concocted a playlist full of different kinds of love songs that I've particularly enjoyed over the past few years. I hope that you'll enjoy them! And remember, love actually is all around. We just need to recognize it.

Polibky!
