Santa's Addition Bump - Freebie!

Your gift for today is a version of my FAVORITE math game!
Play Bump with these cute little Santas. Add bi-colored disks (like the one at the end of this post) or let each player use two different coins.
Use three dice or number cubes and you are ready for some fun. I usually run off enough so that I have one game board for every two kiddos, then place the game in a sheet protector. Turn your kiddos loose, and they are ready for some fun!

Just click on the pic above for your gift.
(I hope you'll leave me a comment and let me know how your kids liked the game.)

Turkey Addition Bump -- Freebie

Today I am thankful for my Sir Pizza buddies. We started out going to Sir Pizza after school when we all taught the same grade together, but now we've moved to different grades and different schools. We went tonight and I realized just how much I miss working side by side with them every day.
(If you haven't had a Sir Pizza pizza, you don't know what you are missing!)

Your freebie for today is an addition version of Bump. My kiddos have always liked playing Bump and would play all day if I let them. Put three dice or number cubes and the game board in your math station and you've got a quick and easy addition facts fluency practice.

Just click on the pic above to get your freebie.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for friends of my children that have become friends of mine. Watching these kids grow up makes me proud!

These are two of my favorite activities I shared with you last November. Let your kiddos draw two feather cards, find the numbers that match, and write the corresponding problem.

It's a Number Hunt! - Freebie

If you need an activity for Halloween Day to keep your kids focused, yet still have a little bit of fun, try this number scavenger hunt. It gets the kiddos up and moving around the room. Hide the candy corn cards around the room, give your students the recording sheet (or have them make their own to save copies), and turn them loose!
Students must solve the problems and record them under the correct heading.

Spooky Place Value and Problem Solving -- Freebie!

We gave the Constructed Response Assessments in math yesterday. I tested a small group of students and realized they had trouble working the problems because they weren't able to transfer a math problem that was written horizontally to a vertical form and place all of the numbers in the correct place value.
This freebie is a simple way to practice adding and subtracting numbers, being sure to write the numbers in the correct place value position. Students pick two cards and use the numbers to write one addition and one subtraction problem. They must write the problem on their paper and solve it.

Just click on the picture above to get the freebie.

And on a not-so-spooky note, I just received word that I'm twenty-seven on the list of the Top Fifty Teacher Blogs published by Teacher Certification Degrees. Click on the pic below to visit their site and see the list.

Happy Fall, y'all!

Domino Garage - Freebie

I'm on my third week of summer vacation and don't have much to show for it! I've had a party for our faculty to wish our principal good luck on her new job as assistant superintendent and a wedding tea, so at least my house is clean and straightened. Bonnaroo is this coming weekend and both kids will be home, so my house won't be looking too good by then. I've finished a memory photo book of my nephew for his parents and put two new items up on Teachers Pay Teachers and Teachers Notebook.
Here is one of the domino Math games from one of my new products. Click on the links to both my stores to the right to check out the rest of the packet. It's thirteen fun games that use dominos to practice math. All you have to do is print out the directions, add your own dominos, and you are ready to go!

It's a Bump-a-palooza!

I love. love. love. Bump games!

If you haven't ever used them in your class, I've got a freebie for you to get you started.
Either laminate the gameboard or put it in a plastic page protector. Give one board to each pair of students, along with ten markers for each child and three dice. Students roll the three dice, add the numbers together, and use one of their markers to cover up the sum. The fun comes when they bump their friends off the board! Further instructions are included in the packet.

Click on the pic above to get the game.

This is just one of ten Bump games from my latest product I've uploaded to my stores on Teachers Pay Teachers and Teachers Notebook. Just click on the links to the right to get the whole packet.

If you purchase two products from my store and send me the receipt, I'll send you a product of your choice free. Just email me a copy of your receipt and your choice of a free product, and I'll get your goodie right out to you!

And if you prove you are a follower of both stores, I'll send you another free product! No purchase is necessary! Just send me an email with the name you use to follow, a screen shot from both stores that show you as "Following," and I'll send the free product to you. Please follow BOTH stores to get the deal! I'll close this offer on Sunday, April 15, at midnight.  My email is pitnerm107 at gmail.com. (Trying to avoid that spam!)

Happy Day Off!

Happy Presidents' Day!
I hope you have the day off.
I can't decide if I'm going to catch up on school work, read, or de-clutter more of this stuff that finds it way into my house!
Hmmm.....

I did decide to make a quick freebie for you.
I'm using it tomorrow with my kiddos for a quick addition practice. They love Bump games, so I made a new one for them.
It's a fun and sneaky way to get them to practice their addition facts!

Just click on the pic above to get the file.

I've added some new products to my Teachers Pay Teachers store and Teachers Notebook shop this weekend, so go take a look. If you are looking for a product to address a specific skill, just contact me and I'll see what I can do to help out.

Have a great day!

Rounding Up Arrays - Freebie

We are ready to start building a foundation for multiplication, so I made this activity for my math stations.

Students will use either markers or the small images included in the packet to build arrays of numbers. They must also determine if the number is odd or even and write an addition sentence that represents the array. If the number is even, the addends will both be even. I am going to encourage them to also use repeated addition to represent the numbers.

Just click on the pic above to get the activity.

I'd love a round-up of comments, too, so please leave one if you download!

Don't forget to join my Reading Roundup Linky Party and share one professional book you want to read, one book you want to read strictly for pleasure, and one you want to use to teach a skill in your classroom. Remember, these are books you have not read yet, but are next on your To Read List. Go {HEREto join in the fun!

Cats, Cats, Cats! - Freebie

I've been catching up on email, posting, and blogging this weekend. I was sur---prised when I opened my inbox and found an invite from Teaching Blog Addict to be an author for their site! Surprised doesn't really cover it.....thrilled....ecstatic..nervous....mostly nervous!
If you haven't been to their site yet (but I bet you have!), then go now and I guarantee you will find something you like!

To celebrate, here is some help getting your second graders to meet the Common Core Standard of mentally adding and subtracting ten or one hundred from numbers up to 900.
