#148_Father's Day Dinner

We usually have B-B-Q in the backyard
for Father's Day dinners,
but this year's weather here in Utah
was not so favorable for B-B-Q day.
So I decided to make some sandwiches instead.

some bagel chicken sandwiches.....

Chicken Salad Sandwiches in regular rolls...

This is somebody's plate..it has a bagel sandwich, potato salad and pasta salad.

Benjamin ladling up some slush that his mom, Angela brought.
Angela also brought some mint brownies and some other kind of cookies.

Our 10 year old grandson, Mason made some delicious chocolate chips cookies as well.
They were so good, they were gone as fast as lightning..

Tri-color Rotini Pasta fort the vegetarians.

Banoffee Pie

Curtis Stone, a chef from Australia visited
Kathie Lee and Hoda Show and made this pie for them, which is made of
dulce de leche, whipped cream and bananas.
Both Hoda and Kathie Lee raved so much about it.

Not the Johnsons!
The Banana Cream Pie (recipe #31, click here), beats this pie as evidenced
in the picture second from the bottom....
there was plenty of it left untouched. I was disappointed!
but I'm not going into details why it was a disappointment as
I don't want to sound like I'm a food critic.
Nevertheless, I will still give it another shot
as there might be something I did wrong when I made it.

#128_Celebrating Memorial Day with Friends and Food

We spent Memorial Day eating and visiting with friends
at a friends' house

Some friends at the party...
this group is my favorite group, that's
why I took this picture of them.

Preparing the smorgasbord....

There was plenty of food...chop suey, lechon kawali,
fried fish, just to mention a few.
The dessert table was full of good stuff.

I didn't get to take pix of all the food as I got busy eating...
you know how that goes!

Waiting around for the sun to go down....

Yah, waiting...it's killing us softly!! (music).

Finally...
somebody emerged from the smorgasbord tent
with some yummy food on her plate....
Aside from pancit and lumpia (egg rolls)
she has on her plate the bacon-wrapped smokies,
Filipino bistek, chop suey, some kind of green veggies
and rice at the bottom.

Poor chicken, they got grilled!
Marinated then grilled.

Bacon-Wrapped Cocktail Smokies

Yours truly made these and they were a hit.
I will be posting the recipe later.

I made 2 packages of the Li'l smokies and were gone quick.
Other food I took to the party were
Pani popo, (recipe
here) another best seller,
Bread Pudding (recipe here) and the Filipino bistek.
These last two weren't the most favorites but were eventually gone too.

#92_It's a Boy!!

NO! DEFINITELY NOT MINE!

A friend, Camille, asked me if I could help her with the food for the baby shower she gave today for Anna, another friend. Thanks for asking me to help, Camille! It sure was an honor!!

I only took pictures of the ones I made.
On the lazy Susan on top is a bouquet of the Lollicakes,
surounded by Chocolate Cupcake with Coconut-Pecan Frosting and mini Chocolate Cupcakes. At left are the Potato Dinner Rolls for cold sandwiches; middle platter is more of the chocolate cupcakesCoconut-Pecan Frosting; then more of the cakeballs on the right.
The Fiesta Dip was hiding on the right next to the cakeballs.

These are Pani Popo or
Coconut Cream Buns
I made this for Anna, the-mother-in-two-weeks and her family.
My sister in NZ showed me how to make them when she came over for a visit back in 2000.
I will post the recipe later.

Here are some of Anna's family and friends who were at the party.

and....some more friends.
I didn't get to take too many pictures but it sure was FUN!!
