Shaker Bookmarks with " Dream Big" - Tutorial

Hello everyone,
This is Shilpa here. When you have bibliophile at home, as a crafter, you are more likely to make bookmarks of all kinds. My teenage daughter is a voracious reader and she is enthusiastic collector of Bookmarks made by me :)

Today, I bring you a tutorial - "How to make Shaker Bookmarks" using Papericious Dream Big Patterned Paper Pack.

I love to work on these mini surfaces with my paints or beautiful papers. Here, I have used Papericous "Dream Big" Patterned Paper Pack, and Cut and Create Embellishment Sheets which are super cute and perfect for making any projects for Kids.

Here is the Step by Step Tutorial:

I cut out 4 pieces of Vellum Papers - 2.5" X 6.5"
I wanted to create borders for bookmarks, so cut out strips (of 2.5" X 1.25") design papers from "Dream Big" Collection.

After adding sequins, I stitched the top borders along with satin ribbon.

I adhered design paper strips to bookmarks. Further, I stitched two Vellum paper strips together keeping one side open to fill it with Sequins.

Next part is embellishments. I cut out lovely pictures and sentiments from Dream Big - Cut and Create Embellishment Sheets.

After adhering embellishments, Bookmarks are ready!

Isn't it easy-peasy? Hope you would like to make your own version. Don't for get to share with us on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

Papericious May Guest Designer | Neha Bhatt | Part 2

Hello, crafty friends!
I am thrilled to be back again on the blog to share some more ideas and projects by our Guest Designer for the month of May - Neha Bhatt! Neha is a super talented designer and cardmaker whose projects always have such an edge to them. She is someone who surely doesn't need any introduction - Her work speaks for herself! :)

We couldn't be more happier to have her as a Guest Designer on our blog today. Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Neha!

Hello friends,
I am Neha here. This is first time for me on Papericious blog. I love their papers but they are mostly available in 12" x 12” so being a card designer, they are difficult to design with. I specifically like their Gilded Onyx and Bliss Paper Packs. I was eagerly waiting for Gilded Onyx papers in 6x6 inches. I don’t have words to describe the beauty of these papers. The colors are amazing, foiling is superb and they are super sturdy. I am sharing few projects using both the packs. Both papers go so well together.

6 Note-Cards with Envelopes in a Box

These are pretty easy cards to put together and they look gorgeous. They are 5.5"x3". There is no message which allows you to use it for any occasion. Thick paper allows you to make simple but sturdy box. Box topper is made with Abstract Chippis which was colored with Golden Acrylic Paint.

Bookmarks (Ink Blending on Foiled Paper)

They are 2"x6" bookmarks. For the back, I have used this white foiled paper from Gilded Onyx Pack. I have used various altenew inks for ink blending for vibrant colors. I tried with Oxides, but they were coating the the foiled part giving very dull look. For the fron I used matching plain cardstock for stamping.

Tag (Stamping on Foiled CS)

I tried stamping on text pattern paper and I am amazed. It looks divine with the foiled pattern showing through solid stamping.

I recommend using solid stamps and dye inks for this technique.

Card (Heat Embossing on Foiled Paper)

I have used patterned papers from the Gilded Onyx Pack on this card.

Once again I used solid stamp to emboss the images with Metallic Embossing Powders. It was hard to capture the sparkling beauty of foil and embossing. For colored embossing, you can try Distress Oxides for stamping and emboss it with Clear Embossing Powder.

That is all for today! I hope you like my creations. Thank you, Hussena and Aastha for this wonderful opportunity. I totally enjoy playing with these papers. Hugs!

Papericious Back to Basics - Kids Party Favors

Hi All!
This is Priya here! Today I have a super cute project to share that I made using Papericious August release that is Back to Basics paper pad. It's a sequel of very famous Papericious Pretty Basic paper pad. These are some trendy designs and awesome colors. I love the fact that it's available in 6x6 size as well apart from regular 12x12 inches size. Perfect for card maker and paper crafter like me.
Let's get on to the project I made. Since the papers were so colorful and chic, I decided to try something different and make kids party favor. I made little bags filled with bookmarks
For the little bags, I used chevron pattern from the 12x12 paper pad. I used Lawn Fawn goodie bag dies to create the bag. For the little bow, I used checker pattern from 6x6 paper pad and die cut it using Lil Inker's small bow dies.
Here is a closeup of the little bow. Isn't it cute? I adhered a little rhinestone as well to embellish the bow.
For the bookmarks, I used papers from 6x6 paper pad. These are 6x2 inches in size and I was able to use up my extra colored images which were leftovers from other projects. I finished these bookmarks by adding some twine.
Here is a closeup of all the cute images on the bookmark. The colors of these papers are so subtle that I was able to mix and match the images with pattern papers in no time.
and here is a glimpse of all things together. Just imagine how cute it will look in a birthday party. It will surely add fun element in your party decor as well!
and I couldn't resist sharing another picture that I was able to capture showing bag full of bookmarks!
I really hope you guys liked this project. Back to Basics is a must have for any paper crafter. I will surely stock up my stash with these pretty papers. I know I am gonna use it so often!

Cute gift set with Pretty Basic Pattern Papers

Hi All,

It's Priya here from Priya-n-Papers. Those who are following me from the beginning, knows very well how much I love dots and strips. When Papericious came out with the Pretty Basics paper pack I so wanted to use those to make some cute projects. Finally I got it in my DT package and had to use it in a pretty way! I have made a gift set which you can give to someone on her/his birthday.

In the gift set, I have made a shaker card, 3 bookmarks and one interactive gift card holder. To make it look like a set, I have used cute images from MFT Hog Heaven stamp set, colored these with Zig markers and fussy cut. Here is the complete.

Now let's have a look at each of these individually.

Shaker card :

For the shaker card, I used yellow dots and strips pattern paper and used Mama elephant die to create the border. I used white vellum and heat emboss my sentiment on it. For the shaker element, I added a mix of locally bought sequins and finished it with a cute piggy image.

Bookmarks :

One can never have enough bookmarks. It's easy to make and makes an awesome gift of it's own too. I couldn't stop myself to make just one. So I made 3 of these :D . I cut 3 strips of the size  1.75 inches x 6 inches from different colors to make the base and for the contrast, I die-cut 3 circles from matching strip pattern papers. Then I glued 3 piggy images and added matching twines to make the bookmark strings.

Gift Card Holder/Mini envelope:

This is my favorite of the lot. I worked out a mechanism to lock open the gift card holder. I used Avery Elle mini envelope die and light green dotted pattern paper from the same Pretty Basics paper pack to make the base.
For the lock open, the piggy can be rotated. To achieve this, I added a label sentiment and loosely glued it only to the ends. I curled the label a little so that it has some space for the fussy cut image to slide inside. I used a brad to stick the image to the patter paper. Don't use any adhesive. With the help of a brad, image can be rotated towards right or left to open the flap of the gift card holder. Here is how it opens.

I also tried to make a gif image, just to show the effect.

New Product Launch - Papericious Blending Tools, and why are they the smart choice?

Hello and Good Morning! ^__^

I'm Halak and it is indeed an honor to present today's blogpost which is all about a fantastic new product developed at Papericious.

The Blending Tool!!

Yes, you can now buy a made in India ink blending tool without compromising on quality, right here at Papericious.

Look and Feel :
The tool comes in two variants, circle and rectangle which co-ordinate perfectly with the ink blending foam packs that are easily available in the market.
I selected the circular variety to work with so here is the image showing the tools that I received.

They come beautifully packed in a set of two, are made of good quality plastic and are sturdy.

My views on the blending tool :

The first thing I noticed on opening the pack was, that there was no staple pin to hold down the velcro to which foam has to be adhered.

I immediately went "wow" because this is a huge advantage. No staple meant smooth transition of changing foam while switching to a different color.
No more having to tug and worry about tearing or damaging foam / velcro.

The second thing was that I really dislike messy tools, I like to wash and keep them clean.
So having a tool in which where I can easily spot stains and clean is great, but having a tool that is white AND made of plastic which I can quickly wash with a bit of warm water and soap is AWESOME!!
Yes, Papericious really did think of everything while designing these!

So now that we have the basics covered, let me list down the advantages along with some fun projects and tid-bits!

1. It is awesome to work with! It is super lightweight, that enables me to work quickly and blend inks easily.

2. Also, because it is light, it allows me smooth blending of colors while going for an Ombre look.

Notice on this bookmark / tag, the colors have transitioned so easily (dark to light).
That was possible easily because the blending tool developed by Papericious is feathery light due to which I was able to exert minimum pressure as I moved towards the edges.

3. The blending tool has a great design, it allows for a comfortable grip and helps distribute ink evenly on the surface.

In this project I used the fade technique.
I picked a stencil and inked it up and  the design slowly faded away into the background.

Once again the Papericious tool gave great results without a hitch.

Also, the ink blending on the leafy die-cut stuck on top has been done with the blending tool. Pretty cool, what say?

4. I worked with only one blending tool and changed foams along the way.
I went through more than 4 colors of inks between the three projects and changing foams was a breeze because of it's strong velcro grip. (No staple pins, yay!)
Let me tell you, you will face absolutely no problems while changing the foam on your Papericious Blending Tool.

This project is the easiest of all 3, direct stamping and simple one color stenciling over it.
P.S. That floral die-cut which you see in black to the right, was originally white. I inked it up using the blending tool. ;)

If this has not convinced you yet, here are a few additional points...

5. The blending tool by Papericious is available at an AMAZING price! (MRP : Rs. 140/- for a set of TWO blending tools!!!)
Seriously guys, for the kind of quality that this product has, I was shocked when Aastha told me the MRP! This is super affordable for everybody.

6. It comes packed in a beautiful box. (Yes, it is AWESOME that the product is great but it also makes me happy to know that they have not ignored the packing.)
It has been well thought of too!
(We crafters LOVE things packed prettily, no?) ^__^

To sum it up, yes, it is a really good quality Blending Tool at a great price point, available in circle and rectangle shapes which co-ordinate perfectly with blending foams.
You saw what can be done with it. It is just 10% of what the tool can do for your projects. (Don't forget that it's easy to clean too!)

No, I am not saying that by being armed with this tool you will become a master artist.
All I am saying is that buying this tool will improve your work and get you there quicker. :)

Have a lovely day!
