Autumn=Fall=Descent
angle of sun
creeps slowly towards
the horizon,
afternoons shorten,
shadows lengthen
cross lawns,
first one leaf
then another
flutter gently,
spiraling earthward,
evening chill
comes early,
as earth
prepares
its descent
to winter.
