Another narrow aerial escape

I take back to the air in this cute little Nieuport.

 Two huns are engaged.

I almost have a victory when the enemy suffer a near miss aerial collision.

But my crate was badly damaged in this dog fight.
With all that engine damage I was lucky to get away.

The only shot of mine that found it's target.

The other enemy plane got off Scot free.

Up in the Air

I take to the air in this Nieuport.

Straight up I have my tail clipped by the hun!

 We circle round.

He has a friend, but will he be in time for the action?

Another blast and my kite is on fire!

I can only hope that the enemy collide.
Close, but not close enough.

 I make a flaming exit!

I had one damage point remaining.
Phew, that was close.

Enemy planes were flown by Stephen N (they are all his) and Mark B

First attempt to play Bag the Hun on my hex sheet.
I need to reduce the scale.

Return to the Skies

At last Saturday's Games Day I only had a little time, perfect to fit in an old favourite, Wings of Glory.

Stephen N piloted the bad guys: Albatros D VA and Albatros D III (the one in red) top left hand corner.  In my flight was a Spad XIII (Nr 1) and a Nieuport NI 28 (Nr 10) bottom right hand corner.

 My plans narrowly missed colliding.

The Spad climbs while the Nieuport has a shot at the red bird.

The red bird flips and takes out the Nieuport with a single shot.

The Spad returns and takes out one of the Huns.

I can only think that the Game Gods knew I was short of time and were helping things along.

Is the red bird running away?

 No.

I'm getting in some hits, but he's not dead yet.

 More mayhem.

Victory!

Jam

At the club on Wednesday night I took the Phoenix for a flight.  This time I had the special ability "sniper"meaning I could chose which one of two damage cards to deal (basically picking the best card from each choice of two).  The downside was that if my guns jammed, they couldn't be unjammed...

Mark B had the other Phoenix, while Stephen took the two Triple Entente scouts.

And what happens on my first shot?
I draw two cards and both have the guns jammed symbol.

I break off, limping a bit with rudder damage and a nasty head scratch.

Mark B sets one of the enemy scouts on fire.
I've been slowly climbing.

I'm being chased, their plane is faster than mine, but I have altitude.

Mark B is continuing the dog fight with the flaming scout.

Finally turning on his hapless opponent and shooting him down.

I fly off into the sunset.

I was at half damage with just three cards, my comparate had received a handful of zeros while the surviving enemy scout was being held together by song and pray.

Two Kills

It's been a while, but last night I proved I had not lost any of my dazzling WOG skills.

My plane is the red and white tipped Phoenix.
Stephen B is in the Bumble Bee,
while Stephen N has one of the British Fighters,
Simon the other one.

I get caught in a crossfire.
Both sides had been diving and climbing,
but I had just climbed back into the British sights.

Lots of lead headed my way,
but I'm more worried about his propellers chopping up my wings!

I get away, but I'm on fire.

But I do not run away!

 First kill.
Took out Simon with one very lucky shot.
Till then he only had one point of damage.

Then I line up on Stephen N's plane.
I'd already done some previous damage,
could I do any more?

There might have only been four hits on the remaining British plane, but they all hurt.
My plane had taken ten hits, four from the fire, but I was still flying.
The Bumblebee had hardly a scratch.

Southern Hemisphere Open Skies

Today I took part in Stephen's demonstration game at the new miniature gaming event for Perth called the Southern Hemisphere Open.  Stephen's game was part of the NWS' contribution.

As it was his game and his models he got the unenviable job of flying five Albatross scouts.
I had a miserly two Snipes.

And on my first shot my guns jam.
Even though my pilot had the special ability to reduce this occurrence.

Coming and going

 A hit!
One down, four to go.

My other Snipe has had to break off.
It took 14 damage and can only take two more.

 My remaining Snipe keeps fighting,
although heavily outnumbered.

Getting a shot at the Hun leader.

 Some near misses
Collisions are a frequent risk in Wings of Glory

By the end of the allotted time, my remaining Snipe had 12 damage points.

10, 9, 7, 1 the damage on the four remaining German planes.
