Thank You Card with Paper Players Sketch #443

Today's post brings a colorful card using the current Paper Players Sketch.  The plaid panel features Close to My Heart Into the Wild paper.  The flower stamps are from the recently retired You Got This Cardmaking workshop.  As I'm trying to use up my stash the most of the products used are retired Close to My Heart.

The background is Honey cardstock .  The flowers were stamped in Espresso Ink on Autumn Terracotta cardstock.  Then I tapped the flowers on to Versamark Ink and used Polysparkle Tinsel clear embossing powder to give it the shimmer effect.  The sentiment is from A Thousand Thanks.

Here is the fabulous Paper Players sketch that inspired my card layout:

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
        The Paper Shelter--Flower Power
        The Crafty Addicts--Anything Goes
        Watercooler Wednesday--Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Feathers for Freshly Made Sketches #124 with Stampin' Royalty Colors #215

I've been seeing a lot of cards with feathers lately and find myself drawn to them.  I love the three panel sketch by Freshly Made Sketches this week and especially liked how Design Team member Rita Wright used feathers in the sketch.  The twist on my feathers card is that they are created with negative space.  Card size is 6.5" x 5". The colors I chose are from this week's Stampin' Royalty color challenge which is a new challenge for me. (I don't know why I haven't played along with this challenge sooner--after all  my blogging persona is NJ Stamping Queen!)

Here is a close-up to show the textured lines of the feathers created with a small stylus:

Close To My Heart products used:
Artiste Cricut cartridge (page 78 accent 3 shift cut at 3")
     Pacifica CS
     Honey CS
     Ruby CS
     Just a Number stamp
     Ruby Ink

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch I followed:

Here is the Stampin' Royalty Color Palette--since I don't have SU inks I substituted the closest Close To My Heart colors.

I'm also entering this card into Seize the Birthday Challenge.

Double Nickel Birthday Card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch #9 and H2H Favorite Color Challenge

Today is my sister's "Double Nickel" birthday so I incorporated that special marker on her birthday card.  Following the Atlantic Hearts Sketch #9 with my favorite colors for the Heart 2 Heart challenge I pieced together this card using retired Close To My Heart Dreamin' paper, Pacifica Ink and  small pieces of Honey and Pacifica cardstock with a White Daisy card base.  I stamped "Birthday" from Just a Number and "55" from Keyboard Uppercase Alphabet.   This was a great sketch to follow to use up small paper scraps!

All shades of blue are my favorite "happy" colors and Pacifica is one of my favorite of the Close To My Heart shades of blue.  Why not make a card featuring your favorite happy colors and link it up to Heart 2 Heart challenges by June 30?

Here is the Atlantic Hearts Sketch #9:

You have until Sunday evening, June 30 to enter this challenge.

Color Dare #47--Just Honey With Emboss Resist Technique

This week at Color My Heart Color Dare the challenge is to make a card featuring the Close To My Heart color Honey.  You may add neutrals such as black, white, chocolate, cocoa and bamboo but the only "color" of the card should be Honey (or similar color if you don't have it).  I used Versamark ink and Clear Detail Embossing Powder to stamp the two images from Beautiful Friendship in opposite corners. Next I applied Honey ink using a sponge dauber and the embossed area remained white.  The greeting is from Casual Expressions and was stamped in Black ink.  The tied ribbon is Color Ready Seam Binding which is white.  Once again I used my sponge dauber to apply Honey ink over a craft mat.  I just rubbed it on--it was really easy to do.  This White Daisy panel was then mounted onto Honey CS.  The final accents on this card are  Opaque Licorice Adhesive Gems.

Now head on over to Color My Heart Color Dare and check out what the rest of the fabulous design team has created.  We hope you can join in on the fun!  Just link your papercrafted creation up by Thursday evening, June 20 at 9PM CST.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Color Dare #46--Choose Your Own Pink, Yellow and Orange with Watercoloring Technique

This week's Color My Heart Color Dare challenges you to make a card using  all 3 colors (neutrals are allowed and don't count as a color) but you get to choose which shade of pink, yellow and orange to use from the Close To My Heart color palette. (If you don't have these colors you may substitute something similar).

The bottom two cards use a watercolor technique and the following CTMH colors:  Cotton Candy, Honey and Autumn Terracotta.  I used watercolor paper, a brush, some water and CTMH inkpads.  First I squeezed the closed inkpad lid into the pad so some ink would get onto the lid.  I then dipped my brush in water and then onto the inked lid and then painted the watercolor paper.  In the first card (Thanks) I stamped the floral image from In The Background with Versamark ink and then clear embossed it BEFORE I painted alternating striped diagonal colors.  After I trimmed the watercolored paper I matted it with strips of Autumn Terracotta and Cotton Candy.  The greeting is from Thoughtful Tidings (retired CTMH) and was stamped onto Art Philosophy cut White Daisy CS (pg. 63 square 5 cut at 1.75") with Autumn Terracotta Ink.  It was also matted onto Autumn Terracotta CS (same square 5 cut at 2") and onto a 2.25" square of Honey CS.  The final step was to add the Cotton Candy pom pom trim (retired CTMH).

For the second card I painted circles--from inside out the colors are Honey, Autumn Terracotta and Cotton Candy.  I then stamped over the circle with the medallion from Love Life in Archival Black Ink.  (I wanted to be sure the ink would not bleed).  From left to right the colored 1 5/8" squares are
Autumn Terracotta, Cotton Candy and Honey.  The medallion was mounted with 3D Foam Tape onto  a medallion cut from Black CS using the Artiste cartridge (page 31 accent 2 cut at 2.75").  These elements were all adhered to Colonial White CS.

While I was playing with these colors the new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was announced and I really liked it so I figured I'd make one more pink, yellow and orange card.   This time I used lighter  colors--Blush, Creme Brulee and Sorbet and the Honeycomb stamp set.  I used just the sentiment from Quick Card--Bumblebee  in Chocolate ink.  The final touch was the addition of 3 Mocha Opaque Gems under the greeting.  This was a really quick card to make following the sketch.

What 3 color combinations will you try? Current Close To My Heart yellows are:  Buttercup, Creme Brulee and Honey.  Current CTMH oranges are:  Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, Sorbet and Sunset.  Current CTMH pinks are:  Blush, Smoothie, Cotton Candy and Hollyhock.  You may also use discontinued CTMH colors (or substitute other products if you don't have CTMH inkpads yet.)  To link up your papercrafted creation go to Color My Heart Color Dare.  The deadline is Thursday, June 13 at 7PM CST.  There is a monthly prize you could win!  Check out what the rest of the Design Team and our Guest Designer Sheila Bennett have done to get your creative juices flowing.

Color My Heart Color Dare #43--Cranberry, Honey and Outdoor Denim and Atlantic Hearts Sketch #3

Welcome back to another Color Dare post!  This week we challenge you to use these three Close To My Heart colors:  Cranberry, Honey and Outdoor Denim.  Neutrals such as black and white are allowed yet we really would like you to use these three colors exclusively.  Of course, if you don't yet own any of these colors you may substitute something similar.  These colors are also featured in the Tommy paper pack.  I used part of a sheet of Tommy paper for the 3 small anchors which are mounted on the side panel.  The Outdoor Denim base was run through my Cuttlebug machine with the Anchors Away embossing folder and then distressed with a sanding block from the CTMH Sanding Kit.  Thank you is from Say it in Style (now retired CTMH but still one of my favorites).  The small anchor Tommy paper circles were popped up from the card with 3D Foam Tape and glittered with my favorite embellishment--Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.  My son and his wife sent me a beautiful flower assortment for Mother's Day and since he is in the Navy I thought he would like this nautical themed thank you card.

I had a little extra time this week so I made a second card.  I used the Atlantic Hearts Sketch #3 as my inspiration.  The buttons are from Thoughtful Seasons stamp set (retired CTMH) and the flourish is from You and Me (also retired CTMH).  The greeting is from A Little Thanks.  The frame around the 4 buttons was cut with a Family Treasures scissors. (Close To My Heart used to carry this one many years ago.)

Here is the Atlantic Hearts Sketch #3:

Now head on over to Color My Heart Color Dare to check out what the rest of the Design Team has for you.  We would love for you to play along with us--just link up your creation to the blog by Thursday evening, May 23, 9PM CST.  There is a monthly prize up for grabs!.

Masculine Card for Fantabulous Cricut #144 and Try Stampin' on Tuesday

I made this card for my sailor son who is serving in the Persian Gulf  using the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #101 and I like how it came out.  It was only after I made the card that I found that I could also enter it into Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday #144--"It's a Man's World".  The diagonal striped patterned paper features Outdoor Denim and Honey colors and is from "Tommy", a new paper packet from Close To My Heart that will be released on February 1.  The anchor is from an old CTMH wood stamp set called "Anchors Away".  The hello greeting is from one of my all time favorite stamp sets which is still available from Close To My Heart called "For Every Occasion".  The Outdoor Denim shape below the Silver Shimmer Trim (colored with a Honey alcohol marker) was cut with the CTMH Artiste cartridge and then cut in half.  I used Accent 4, Shift from page 61 cut at 3.25".  The shape was then run through my Cuttlebug using the "Baby's Breath" embossing folder. Since I am mailing this card I wanted to keep the layers down so instead of tying a ribbon knot as shown on the sketch I used an old ribbon punch and used a hole punch to cut out accents (instead of using gems or brads) from the Silver Shimmer Trim and placed them to the right of the focal point.

Here is the Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch:

Thanks for stopping by!  Look for my post later this evening with the new Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  You still have until 9 PM CT tonight to enter the current challenge of using Close To My Heart colors Indian Corn Blue and Ruby.
Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Leaf Themed Card for Numerous Challenges

I spent a lot of time deciding on how many stamp challenges I could fit this card into as is the challenge at pile it on #40.  This is a new challenge for me along with some of the others ones I've chosen to enter this week.

Challenges:
pile it on #40--card made for a child (I think the smiley face on the maple leaf qualifies for this)
My Craft Spot Monday Challenge #70  Falling Leaf
Friday Mashup! -- Fall leaves with Twine
Frosted Design Fabulous Friday -- Something Embossed
Dynamic Duos -- Cherry Cobler and choice of other color
Cupcake Inspirations --photo of leaf topped cupcakes as inspiration

Here is my card:

The leaves were cut with the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge (pg.78 at 2" and 1.75") and the acorn and oval were cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge (acorn pg.36 at 1.25" and oval2 from page 32 at 1.25".)  Papers are CTMH Colonial White background, Cranberry (Cherry Cobbler substitute for Dynamic Duos), Honey and Kraft.  I used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder to texturize the oak leaves and acorn and the Spots and Dots folder to dry emboss the kraft stripe.  A deckle edge scissor was used to trim the cranberry stripe.  The greeting stamped in Cranberry ink is from Hooray Bouquet and the smile face stamp is from a very old wood CTMH set called Scrapbook Kids.

Keep reading my blog--a Giveaway of some sort--details to come soon!

I will be celebrating my 100th post as a blogger soon. I am planning some type of giveaway but am open to hearing your suggestions too. What kind of requirements should I have to be eligible to win? Please leave a comment below if you have any suggestions for me. (this is post #98 already!)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week filled with creativity and fun!

Freshly Made Sketch #53 Entry #1

When I first saw this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches I didn't really like it, but I have to admit that it has really grown on me--so much so that I decided to try 2 different cards with it.  All materials are Close To My Heart except the cuttlebug embossing folder "Divine Swirls" in card #1.

Here is the sketch:

Card #1 is 5.5" square.  It uses 1/2" strips of CTMH rainbow colors: Cranberry, Sunset, Honey, Topiary, Pacifica, Gypsy and Pansy Purple cardstocks over a White Daisy base which was embossed with the above mentioned cuttlebug folder.  To pop it up a bit it was placed on black cardstock.  The Thanks greeting was embossed with with black embossing powder.  Since the swirls around the word Thanks look almost circular I did not place it on a circle as in the sketch.

Freshly Made Sketch #47 and Color My Heart Dare #11

Happy Birthday to nephew Brendan! I followed the sketch that I found here for this card using the colors from here. The Color My Heart Dare #11 is to use any or all of these exclusive Close To My Heart colors: Ruby, Goldrush, Honey, Sweet Leaf, Indian Corn Blue and Cocoa. This card uses all of them except Sweet Leaf or Cocoa. I also used my new CTMH Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut the numbers, gear shaped label and banner that matches the Hip-Hip-Hooray stamp that comes in this collection. A little bit of stardust glitter gel was applied to the gear label and numbers. I enjoyed working with this sketch:
Here is my card:
I really like how nicely these colors have come together--especially the Ruby and Indian Corn Blue colors. Thanks to the talented ladies that sponsor these challenges and for stopping by to look at my artwork.
