SSSC189 & Dynamic Duos #62

Hello everyone! Who's having a fabulous weekend? *raising hand*  The weather has been gorgeous and I've spent many hours out on my deck with my iPod and book... can't get much better than that, can it?  I suppose if you could build a 4-season craft room outside, that might be better but, alas, here in Canada - not exactly practical. ;)

Are you ready for a brand new Sweet Sunday Sketch?  It's been an entire month since I've played along since I took the last one off because we decided to go visit my parents on the spur-of-the-moment and didn't have time to get a card done before we left.  I kind of like this week's sketch - not too fussy but can certainly make it so if you want to:

I combined it with this week's Dynamic Duos combo of Calypso Coral and Basic Black, used my Medallion stamp from Stampin' Up! as the half circle peeking out from behind the one layer and dug out an old Verve verse for the sentiment panel and...VOILA!

There was an addtional element to the Dynamic Duos challenge to include butterflies so I popped one on with my button...not sure I've ever seen a black one before but...;)

All of the fabulous Sweet Sunday Stampers have inspiration for you, so please stop by and say hello to:

Vicki Burdick

and the "NKOTB", Lisa Henke and Jodi Collins!  I didn't get a chance to officially welcome them last sketch so better late than never, right?  WELCOME GIRLS!!!!  So thrilled to have you both on board!

Have a great week, everyone!  See you on Thursday!

A Play Date Cafe & Sweet Sunday Tuesday

Hello, hello everyone!  Are you staying warm wherever you are?  It is absolutely FREEZIN' here...and I'm not exaggerating. I woke up this morning and it was -34*C (that's -29*F for all you south of the border) and that was {without} the wind chill!  Needless to say, with cold temperatures come some very interesting challenges - how about frozen water?  Yep, living out in the country has it's perks but frozen water is NOT one of them.  Thankfully, my dear husband was able to defrost it before he went to work - thanks dear!

So, after spending the morning at work I came home and sat down to craft.  I finished one of my DT cards and had a few minutes before supper so I thought I'd try to get a couple more challenges done.  I haven't been able to play with the Play Date Cafe for a couple of weeks and this week they are celebrating Player Appreciation Week and there are PRIZES up for grabs!  Who doesn't love a prize of two?  Here's the lovely combination:

Another challenge I love to play with is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch and this week's is fabulous - I changed my card into a square... I do love me a square card:

Stamps: Thankful Accents, Birthday Wishes freebie (Verve)  Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Taken With Teal, Old Olive, Basic Grey DSP  Ink: Taken With Teal, Real Red, Old Olive  Accessories: Nesties (Circles and Scalloped Circles), Real Red polka dot grosgrain ribbon, adhesive pearls, Paisley embossing folder, button, baker's twine, paper piercer, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you can stay warm wherever you are.  And if you feel like sharing some sunshine, please send it to Central Alberta!  {smile}  See you tomorrow for a brand new Color Dare!

The Shabby Tea Room - Week #21!

I can hardly believe that we are already up to week #21 in The Shabby Tea Room!  It has gone by so quickly and I can hardly believe my six months as a Shabby Girl are almost finished.  This week's challenge is brought to us by our fearless leader, Debbie, who found this {lovely}, shabby birdhouse photo.  She would like us to use the picture as the inspiration for a card or project created with soft blue, cream and brown for the color scheme:

This week's sponsor in the Tea Room is JetPens and I had so much fun using the Copic Spica atyou Micro Glass Glitter pens on my project.  I used the clear pen as well as Buttermilk and Garnet (which looks like chocolate on my card!)  This week's winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to go shopping on the JetPens website - so much fun!

I have been *attempting* to make some CAS cards lately and this week's sketch over at the Sweet Stampin' Challenge is fairly simple so I thought I'd use it for this week's card.  I also had VERY little time to put this one together - we've been so busy around the yard and trying to repurpose an old shed into a chicken coop that my crafting time has been EXTREMELY limited.

Stamps: {I Heart} Little Paper Shop  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, SU! DSP  Accessories: Paper piercer, Copic atyou glitter pens, Copic markers, Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, button, hemp twine, dimensionals
Here's a little detail shot of my {blinged up} birdhouse:

Make sure you stop by and see what the rest of the Shabby Girls created for this week's challenge...

Debbie Marcinkiewicz - {TSTR Creator} - Simple Treasures
