Frank Lloyd Wright's Amazing Fallingwater

A high point of my recent trip to western Pennsylvania was a tour of
Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpiece, Fallingwater.
Built in 1937 for the Kaufmann family, the home is situated over a waterfall,
melding the structure and its furnishings with the idyllic mountain setting.
Cantilevers and terraces are only two of its highly recognizable design features.

I wish I could have taken photos of the interior, but photography was not permitted.
Please put this unique landmark on your bucket list; you'll be totally infatuated!

"The concept at the heart of the Fallingwater experience-
the vision of an architecture embedded in the landscape-
evokes a powerful, spiritual connection to the natural world."
-Edgar Kaufmann, Jr.

Enjoy this 4-minute video from YouTube by Frank Carmi.
You'll like its peaceful piano accompaniment.

Textile and surface designer Amy Reber has amazing talent.
Her creativity bursts forth in bold patterns!
Her strong, rich color combinations are fun and exciting!

It's inspiring to know that Amy's a military spouse,
she's a stay-at-home mom with 3 children,
plus she's taught herself this great art form
and has created a successful business.

Amy's designs have retro flair, but at the same time are fresh and modern!
I'm crazy about every one!

Karen Nicol’s Innovative Textile Design

nicolll

Karen Nicol, of London, England, is a marvelously imaginative textile artist!
At a young age, she fell in love with embroidery and determined to make it her career.
With the courage to reach beyond the expected, she collaborated
with others to design textiles for fashion and interiors,
finally exhibiting her work in galleries under her own name.
She's experimented with laces and has showcased her designs
through a series of animals, including 2D and 3D embroidery.

Karen’s textile artistry is nothing short of innovative.
She is passionate about embroidery and loves to teach and encourage others.

Enjoy this selection of her various works.
