Maelstrom XI

Maelstrom XI hosted by Hagen Kerr from Quietly In the Background was this weekend.  I've listed my battles as well as lots of pictures below.  Results in the link.

Hardwired Hatred

I was drunk when I first converted a destroyer into a Canoptek Moth and it ended up a bit lopsided but I always liked it.

Cosmic Powers

Pewter is a surprisingly difficult colour to paint and you don't see many examples.

Humans all look funny

Necron Phalanx complete.  I used all 40 of them in a game the other week.

Dealing with the Fallout

I had to be physically dragged away from the computer.  My wife pointed out that our teenage son had been waiting patiently for two weeks to play Fallout 4.  She wanted me to behave like an adult and let him have a turn.

God Shackle

"The God Shackle is a relic discovered by Anrakyr in the depths of the Star Hallows that allows him more exacting control of the C'tan shards in his possession. On Asphodex this would even allow the Overlord and his Crypteks to boost the power of the Burning One, rather than relying on its innate rage alone.  The only drawback of using such a device is that the tighter the leash placed around a C'tan's neck, the more likely the creature is to rebel against it."

Pimp My Ride

44 magnets, 20 nail heads, 3 steel plates and just a smidgen of aluminium putty.  My fully magnetised Necron Pimpmobile is built.  If I ever tried to take this to another country and went through airport security they would probably blow it up in a controlled explosion. "Whats in the bag, sir?  Never mind, we're going to detonate it, just to be sure."

Losing your bits

The Decurion Auto-Take

This week, I ha' been mostly painting Tomb Blades.  They are remarkably sturdy given their delicate construction and long flight stands.

Where have all the magnets gone?

The slow trickle of Necrons continues.  This week I've only managed to finish the Overlord and the Canoptek Moth.

Rusticrons revisited

Slowly getting back into it.  The failed colour scheme has been completely replaced.

Wraithlings

Canoptek Wraiths are now even more OP with the release of the new Necron codex.  Therefore it is necessary to spam the shit out of them.  Unfortunately I only have 9 of the models and 3 of those are the old metal versions (I call them Wraithlings).  They're about half the size of the newer plastic and look stupid when mixed in a unit.  Plus, they don't have whip coils.  However, needs must as the devil drives...

Harness the What?

So I'm confused.  Having just bought my Necron Datacards, I noticed Objective 56 which reads:

Am I going mad?  Do Powers of the C'Tan count as Psychic Powers?  Is this all a cosmic joke?

GWF Smackdown - Shrikes vs. Wraiths

Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight's Battle of the Paint Station pits the mighty Tyranid Shrikes vs. the All New Canoptek Wraiths!

C'tan conversion

This is probably a bad time to start getting into Necrons, what with all the anticipated Tyranid releases.  The Toxicrene/Maleceptor is out this weekend and I should be clearing the decks and breaking out the magnets. I even bought White Dwarf for the first time in nearly a year and I actually didn't regret it.

Nailed it

I resolved the wobbly model syndrome on my Ghost Ark by nailing some sense into the flight stand:

Best thing the Romans ever did for us

Necron Drive-By

I couldn't resist it.  I had to buy a Ghost Ark as well.  Its such an excellent model that my life felt empty and joyless without it. It was satisfyingly complex to build and paint too.  I dutifully followed the instructions right up to the part where it said "we recommend painting this assembly before the next stage".  Screw that.  I just glued the bugger together and blu-tacced the warrior carcasses in place.  I wanted to play with it, dude.  Its a toy, dammit!

Exterminate!

The bases are dry at last and now I'm done.

Rusticrons

I believe that I may now be slow painting Necrons since it took 3 days to add the weathering effects.  In my defense, I do work full time and pay lip service to raising a family.

Its fair to say that my army has a large yellow streak.
