My Favorite Things Guest Desinger...

No I'm not the guest desiner...but I did submit 2 cards to try to be next month! Wish me luck! The challenge was to make a NON square or rectangle project...I think I achieved that ;0) I SUPER like this moon card...that was my fisrt submission. I like it because it is very unusual and I love the concept.

I drew the moon myself and the star too (I just recieved word that my start punch from SU! has shipped, but it wasn't here yet so I improvised!) for the star I cut it out in night of navy, covered the whole thing in versa mark and then Iridescent ice embossing powder and heat embossed it... I love the shimmery sparkle and am so glad you can see it in the picture! For the moon I wanted it to have teature and dimention and not be totally flat so I pulled put one of my fav. bachground stamps (houndstooth) and stamped it on the So Saffron card Stock woth So Saffron ink. I then pierced the moon all the way around and did the faux Stitching with Night of Navy marker. And last but not least, I sponged all the way around the moon with night of navy ink. For the bear, I stamped him on water color paper with black stazon ink and used an aqua painter and reinker to color him in...shadding him on one side to reflect the light of the moon! Cut him appart somewhat and added the sentiment.. This card is a little bigger than an average card, but I have biiger envelopes!

Supplies:
Stamps:Bundle of Joy, Holidays and wishes
Ink:night of navy, so saffron, versamark
Paper:night of navy, so saffron, water color paper
Accessories: Blue Taffeta ribbon, markers, 1/8 inch hole punch, heat gun, embossing powder

Fot my second entry I wanted to tr something a little more femanine. I think this did the trick! I am loving doing one layer cards and this one totally fits the bill! I started off with a piece of shimmery white cardstock and folded it in half length wise and the free handed a cake design... I knew I wanted to make a wedding cake because I had watched Ace of Cakes last night and the gal did a gorgeous wedding cake with green flowers that I thought was stunning! Anywho, I then sponged the edges and masked and sponged at each layer to make it look more dimentional. After the sponging I added the pretty pretty image found in the new stamp ste by SU! a beautiful thing. Then I added the flowers (colored the centers using the same sponge for the edges of the card) and the half pearls to make it a little more elegant and placed the sentiment under the flower...this card opens on the side of the sentiment and is about 6''ish tall. Ohh yeah, I almost forgot (don't know how since my thumb is still throbbing!) I added the little icing effect using liquid applique and then heat setting it! I hope they like it!

Supplies:
Stamps: a beautiful thing, holidays and wishes
Ink:rose red
Paper:shimmery white, rose red
Accessories:sponge, pretties kit, liquid applique, heat gun, sponge

So how do you participate in the Guest designer search? Every month MFT has a release party on SCS and they issue some guidelines to follow for your creations, you usually have about 24 hours to make a sample and upload it and then they choose one person to be the guest designer for the following month! Join them next month...sooo much fun!

Bali Beautiful!

So everyone knows that the new catalog is in my happy little hands, but so are some fab stamps from the catalog pre-view brochure! I haven't had much time to stamp lately, 3 kids and a horrible cold sure can keep a girl down! I managed to sneak into the disaster of a stamp room today and actually made a card!!! I love the new papers and stamps, ohhh and did I mention the rub ons??? yum!!! This is a regular sized card (5.5x4.25) and I used shimmery cardstock as the base, then added a little bit of the new scrumptious bali beeze paper (2x5.5 to be exact) and used the small corner rounder without the guard to make scallops (don't know how to do that? Come back on Tuesday for a tutorial!) and used the 1/16th hand held punch to make holes. Next I used a sponge that I cut into sections and inked up with tempting turquoise and sponged the edges of the Designer paper. For the main image I used a 3inch square of tempting turquoise card stock, a 2 7/8 square of appricot appeal (looking closely now, I should of probably used goorvey guava instead, but hey I still like it!) and then I used a 2 5/8 square of certainly celery followed lastley by a square of 2.5 wisper white for the main image. (Now I know this sounds like a lot of card stock, but I used only scraps, so I was being resorceful! LOL) As for stamping, there really wasn't a lot t it! I stamped the main image flower with appricot appeal and the sentiment in tempting turquoise, added the rub-on to the flower and the ribbon to the card and that's all she wrote! I hope you like this card! The rub-ons are great, super easy to use and I just love their versatility!
