Found a lovely top, but only 1 left and the queue in fitting room was very long

The food here were just so-so, not very attractive though

We took the bus, MRT and walked to Clarke Quay
Then, we continued our walking journey to see the merlion, to Marina Bay Sands
The price to get our way up to the Skypark was too pricey
$20 for adults and $17 for anyone above 55 years old

We took MRT back to 313 @ Somerset for the addictive THB as lunch
THB = The Handburger

Universal Studios Singapore

Generally speaking, I am not sure how should I describe Universal Studios Singapore. I was there on the 7th of Sept, very hot weather (lucky us), even though some queues were long, everything just happened so quick.

My plan to visit these "studios" or theme park was quite long ago and with a blink of an eye, I did it. I just can't believe I am writing this in Tanjong Karang, a place that I had complain numbers of time.

The map of Universal Studios Singapore

Let's starts at the entrance
The very famous Universal Studios globe that spins and spins everyday

Hollywood

After that, this will be my favourite decor theme, Hollywood
I have always imagine this only happen in Disneyland
Not anymore!
Frankly, just don't get too excited about it, it might not as BIG as a lot of you think
I am amazed
Never had such thing comes into my life, now I have my 1st experience
Very lovely to be surrounded by Hollywood-styled buildings, newspaper machines
Filled with atmosphere of Hollywood with their glamorous music
And..
We took picture with Woody the Woodpecker!

Attraction : Pantage Hollywood Theater
Now they are showing Monster Rock Live Show
There are 3 shows a day
And monsters definitely R.O.C.K!
Lots of merchandise shops around this area, the most you can find
Food :
Celebrity Cafe & Bakery
Hollywood China Bistro
Mel's Drive-la (always crowded here)

New York!

Old fashioned police car, taxi, break dance on the street
Attraction :
Lights! Camera! Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg (must see!)
Stage 28 (coming soon - it is a film production indoor studio)
Food :
KT's Grill
Loui's NY Pizza Parlor

Sci-Fi City

What caught everyone's eyes here are the Battlestar Galatica HUMAN & Battlestar Galatica CYCLON
The red roller coaster trail is the HUMAN, the blue is the CYCLON
A dueling roller coaster to see who cross the finishing line faster
Interesting?
But it was closed after a technical glitch was discovered after the routine safety check
So, this blockbuster attraction was halted from operation
Other than that, there is Accelerator, something similar to the spinning tea cup in those fun fare
Did not really attract a lot of people trying it

Ancient Egypt

Here, placed the most adventurous ride (other than Battlestar Galatica) and the most boring ride
Yeah, they only have 2 rides in this area
The adventurous : Revenge of the Mummy (must try to those that does not suffer from motion sickness)
I did not try this! (But, my bro did)
The boring and should not exist : Treasure Hunter
Nice name right? It was written on the entrance that this attraction is moderate extreme
Duh...
After the ride, only a piece of BIG question mark stick or stamped on everyone's face
Something like "Ahha, we get to tricked you, in your face!"
Gosh, who ever invented this, even a merry-go-round is way nicer
Moderate extremity?
Food :
Oasis Spice Cafe
Middle East Food, see my previous post about Food in Singapore
One merchandise shop : Carter's Curiosities

The Lost World

Yup yup, Jurassic Park, it is not plain at all
Definitely a place that I found my enjoyment in here
Most recommended attraction this area, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure
Be prepared to be wet or soaked in water
Lots of surprise a long the ride, fast water currents and something you won't expect in the d.a.r.k
*evil laugh*
My brother and I went for it twice, we were completely soaked
Then, dry ourselves under the sun, natural way and more UV!
Canopy Flyer (a must try)
Legs dangling, bird eye view of The Lost World and part of Madagascar
Some will get the chance to sit facing the front, and some (unlucky us) facing the back
Started off very slumber until I reached an accelerator in the middle, then it went fast & sharp turn
Sudden stopping of the ride *laugh at the end*
Dino-Soarin' is a very kiddy ride sitting on dinosaurs then flying round and round
Amber Rock Climb need extra payment, so I am not going for it
(rock climbing plan halted)
Water World was a big miss for both of us
There were shows going on, but we just didn't know about it
Food :
Discovery Food Court
Fossil Fuels

Far Far Away

My childhood dreamland, the castle
It only comes true when I am in my 2nd decade of life
Oh well, it might be a little late, at least it did come true
Recommended attraction here, Shrek 4D Adventures
Even though the briefing and some introduction show before the real 4D was kind of a bit unrelated to what we are going to watch later
The staffs made us feel really great about the whole thing, just that it took too long
Enchanted Airways, the junior roller coaster with the head of dragon in front and dragon's tail at the back
And, tracks at the dragon's bottom, opps!
Magic Potion Spin is an indoor ferris wheel that is seriously small and slow
I wonder where is the fun?
It is attached with the merchandise shop, Fairy Godmother's Potion Shop
Donkey LIVE, musical show for the young a.k.a kids
Food :
Goldilocks
Fairy Godmother's Juice Bar
Friar's

Madagascar

I like to move it move it!
That's the place
No attractions for us yet, Madagascar : A Crate Adventure is coming soon
It is build inside a really HUGE and real looking seven-storey ships
King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round, just a very typical merry-go-round
At least it looks better than Treasure Hunter
Merchandise shop, Penguin Mercantile
Food :
Marty's Casa Del Wild
Gloria's Snack Shack

That's it
We went for the last show in Hollywood called Kowabunga Kove

2 thumb ups!

The Handburger

Fine day, people!
This is what I promise in my previous post, my day 3 dinner..

Day 3 Dinner : The Handburger (Somerset 313)
Yes, you see it right there
The Handburger
Nope, I don't see it wrong
Handburger stick together, not separated like Hand Burger
(crap =.=")

What makes it different?
No restaurants or cafes are going to tell you that "We served going-to expired ingredients in the town"

So, this is the story of THB!
"The Handburger serves gourmet crafted from the freshest and finest ingredients such as ribeye patties, duck confit and oven baked portobello with a range of handmade sauce"

On the left (above and below), my brother's THB set:

The Handburger Original
+
Chilled Stuffed Tomato
(Top Up for $4)
+
Iced Lemon Tea (not shown)
***
Mine was on the right :

Chicken Caesar Burger
+
Onion Rings
(Top Up for $4)
+
Hot green tea

Before this thing goes on, here's something to declare that THB is a non-Halal restaurant
Secondly, vegetarians are all welcome

The Handburger has burgers listed in 3 categories : Meat, Poultry, Seafood / Vegetarian

Meat
* The Handburger Original*
*The Works Burger*
*Pulled Pork Burger*

Poultry
*Duck Confit Burger*
*Chicken Caesar Burger*
*Tandoor Chicken Burger*

Seafood / Vegetarian
*Battered Dory Burger*
*Stuffed Portobello Burger*

I am going to focus on the one I bold it in RED only

The Handburger Original
"Grilled 150g of 100% N.Z ribeye beef patty, sweet onion jam, cheddar cheese, handmade barbecue sauce on a bed of coral lettuce, tomato on a toasted caramelised onion bun"

Brother's food so it is going to be brother's review
Nothing much to elaborate on the taste because it was just awesome among the awesome-ness
One thing to point out here is about whether you like it cooked well done, medium rare or rare
The reflection here is that the well done beef patty was not exactly well done
It is either it was supposed to turn out this way or it really turn out a mistake
But still, nothing beat the taste
*wink*

Chilled Stuffed Tomato
One unique side dish that we hardly imagine even there is a picture until it was served
One big juicy tomato, that's the first impression
The extra is all stuffed inside the tomato, it was just cabbage anyway
Yeah, just cabbage
Taste buds not really triggered, it is just like any other tomato and cabbage

My review

Chicken Caesar Burger
"Baked chicken breast wrapped with bacon, fresh mozzarella, sautéed basil pesto mushroom, handmade caesar dressing on a bed of romaine lettuce, tomato on a toasted sundried tomato with olive bun"

Question, question..
The time I was reading the menu, it was written baked chicken thigh. When does it turns into a breast?
I seriously remember it is thigh!

First impression, "Oh My Gawd" priceless expression
Tall! Big! How to eat!
Sorry to say that my process of eating plus cutting and fork-ing was a total m.e.s.s
The tower of burger fell apart
I built it back in place and it fell again
But, who cares as long as the food brings you to heaven
A very messy way to heaven
Double thumb ups to the Caesar dressing!
Overall, it was something worth trying and I am going to crave for it someday

Onion Rings
It was served with handmade tomato sauce that taste so different that I couldn't recognize them
Crunchy!
The good thing about this is it is not oily that cut away my guilty pleasure of the day
This is the one that I am going to order again if I were to come again

In conclusion : Really going to eat there next time! (TCA!)

*TCA : to see again*

Food in Singapore

Warning : Long post ahead. Take your time to have a long food tour..

There is always a priority for food than fun..
No doubt this is not going to be any different..
I am going to blog about food before I moved on to the attractions
But I bet a lot of people had had wonderful time in Universal Studios Singapore before me
Indeed, it was something worth sharing even a thousand times!
I spent 4 days in Singapore, instead of 3 because the train left without me!

Here's the food I om nom nom in Singapore
Not very fancy though
Just some reviews
This is very personal, you might love what I hate and hate what I love
That is what we called taste buds diversity
Lovely..

This picture grid was supposed to confuse you guys, but I think it is a failure
Because it is well organized actually
No sign of confusion
Clear~

I arrived at Singapore at 5pm by train with my brother

Day 1 Dinner : Fish & Co. (Ion Orchard)

Here comes another well arranged picture grid that is not confusing
Clockwise : Passion fruit, kola tonic, Philadelphia Fish & Chips (my bro's), clam chowder soup

I had Best in Town Classic Fish & Chips
with the addition of kola tonic and clam chowder soup.

Difference between Classic and Philadelphia
Philadelphia has addition stuffed cheese in the fish
That's all

Clam chowder Soup
Appropriate portion for me, just nice. I love the creamy texture of the soup and it is not too milky or salty. The clams are unexpectedly a lot, where most of the shops served it very minimally. Fully satisfy and worth adding this in my meal.

Kola tonic
I ordered this because the name is new to me. When it was served, it is nothing other than coke-taste soda. It was a great antidote for my thirst after long train journey from Segamat to Singapore. The only thing I dislike in this drinks was it contains too many gas, which give me a very bloated feeling even before I finished my food. It may due to either the gas or my tiny stomach size. It is something to try on the first visit, but I might order something else if I will eat here some other day.

Classic Fish and Chips
Other than the fish is longer and bigger than any other fish I had tasted, it tasted like any other good fish and chips served. Credits given to the way they served the dish. The portion was too big for me after a bowl of soup and a few sips of kola tonic. Should be OK for me if I had it without the first two items above. But the clam chowder wasn't something to miss. So, I will still say this is a very big portion dish, double the chips served in any other restaurant.

Day 2 Lunch : Oasis Spice Cafe (Universal Studios Singapore)

Middle East dishes lover here!
My brother had Briyani rice with curry chicken and palak paneer

According to Wikipedia, "palak paneer" is an Indian vegetarian dish consisting of spinach and paneer cheese in a curry sauce. (Spot the dark greenish thingy on the upper left of the plate)

My lunch : Chicken Wrap
I am not a big fan of Indian food and the nice pictures at the counter did not convince me. Don't get me wrong, the pictures are nice and attractive, it just doesn't get into me.
So, I am going safe by ordering chicken wrap, the only thing that I felt I can munch in and continue my nerve wrecked rides down Universal Studios.
The portion, hmm, it is slightly bigger than my stomach can fit. It should be just nice for everyone.
The wrap was thick and soft, which is quite easy to munch. Due to the thickness, it can hold the chicken meat, bell peppers and other vege in there nicely.
Not a very messy food to try.
The spices peppered in this dish really triggered my taste buds in the beginning, but it started to taste too salty after a few bites.
After all, it did satisfied my stomach and my satiety center was activated.
Addition : I love the way the served the food. Nice and clean!

Day 2 Dinner : Tom Yam Seafood Noodle (Food Republic, Vivo City)

Going for something plain and not so expensive (not so cheap after all) for dinner after Universal Studios.
I was craving for steamboat and want something like tom yam
We browsed at the steamboat restaurant around Vivo City and we found out it was very pricey

Tom Yam Seafood Noodle
Since it was supposed to look like any other food court food, the creativity of food served was totally not there to emphasize on.
The soup was nice, not spicy. But I prefer it to be a bit more spicy.
I don't really like the idea of using the so-called "mee kuning", it would be lovely if it is meehoon
3 prawns in there, which tasted fresh
The only points I would suggest are the non spicy tom yam which won't caused any sensitive stomach to cry in pain and the prawns which were worth peeling causing a lot of mess
After all, this definitely not the dish I am going to order again

Day 2 Dessert : Honeymoon Dessert (Vivo City)

This was just a self-satisfying & pampering session after a long day
Plus, the non-satisfying dinner in Food Republic
These 2 bowls of dessert cost both of us $10, but I am delighted to have it

Mixed Fruits Sago (left)
What I loved in this bowl of dessert is the fruits. The fruits choice was brilliant. Mango, banana, atapchi (the one we used to have in ice kacang) and apricots
The sago was filled with vanilla essence which blend so well with all the fruits
Credits to the creativity of this dessert and its taste!

My brother don't remember what is his dessert called and I for sure not remembering for him
Overall, the dessert was well presented and our pampering session was a success!

Day 3 Lunch : Ichiban Sushi (Bukit Panjang Plaza)

Late breakfast on the day, I am having very little for lunch.
Left : Some beef that I don't remember the name because it was my brother's dish
Right : My chawanmushi

Besides having chawanmushi, I had unagi sushi, inari and one with lobster meat

Since I am not having very proper meal in here, overall the food in Ichiban Sushi was far more better than sushi king. If to compare with Sakae Sushi, the winner yet to be confirmed. The chawanmushi was the most impressive I had tasted, very smooth texture and satisfying. I like the cutlery the used here, very ancient Japan style but rich and elegant.

Day 3 Tea Time : Xin Wang Hong Kong Restaurant (Ion Orchard)

This is cooling tea time session after the train ran away without us..
I was desperately searching for coffee and dessert because initially I planned to pig out on the train
I had a hot milk coffee and these two dessert
Mango Snow (something like that) and pudding that cost $6.90

Mango Snow thingy (left)
I can only recall the ice cream as the nicest part of this thingy.
The rest of the ice tasted just kind of bland that I had to scoop the sweet mango essence from the bottom of the ice and pour it on top of the ice
It was very cold until it caused my brother to have sudden headache
The pudding, I love the condensed milk layering the top of the mango pudding
Other than that, it was just so so..

Lastly, my day 3 dinner!
I will leave this to the next post because it is just so lovely that it should be the one and only in the next post

Tired legs in Singapore..

Pheww~
Out for 12 hours in Singapore!
I didn't even do that in Malaysia
Even though I am not very familiar with Singapore except some parts of Orchard Road
I am happy!
My feet completely out of energy
My muscles, ligaments, tendons are crying for rest
Hope more fats are burned
But mentally still energetic...

What did I do?
Universal Studios Singapore!
Pictures and blog post will be up once I reach Malaysia tomorrow

♥Singapore Day 5 - Bye Bye♥

Day 5

I still remember we protested to leave during our previous visit
We protested for the sake of Orchard Parksuites
We just love the place so much
That we just didn't want to let go
That was funny
The protest (for sure) not working
We were not the one paying

This time
No more protest
We had spent 5 days there
I think it was more than enough
Started to miss home already

Brunch

Xin Wang Hong Kong Restaurant
*or cafe*
Not that remember
The young people were in a table
We had 'wo tip', fried wantan, 'siu mai', 'hao gao'
Su-Lynn & I had french toast, mine with ice cream
The others had century egg porridge

The adults' table
I am not so sure what they had
We were too busy eating ours
It made us totally full
That we need to drag ourselves to move
:P

We were the Heaviest Breakfast Eating Team
lolz

Final Destination

Our last stop was Kinokuniya
Su-Lynn with her new addiction, Garfields
We got some Cecelia Ahern's books
That's it!

Found a book with interesting title:

Changi Aiport Terminal 1

We went there early
So we waited, waited, waited
To kill the time
We must need weapons
Walked around
Went to toilet
Bought Starbucks
Got some mints
Got lollipops

Tyng & I saw a sign to swimming pool
Out of curiosity
We went to check out
Wow
There was really a swimming pool on the top of the airport
Cool

In AK708

During our take off
Ying looked out the plane's window
"Yay!! We overtake the lorry!!"
Lolz
That was so sweat..
:P

That was the end of our Singapore Story

Hope to have another story next time

Miss the moments there

I like the place
