Workout :)

First time blog from a tablet, so it is a bit weird..

Ever since I'm back from my trip in Kuching, for the first time I seriously start myself on a workout program. Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning to lose weight. I just want to train on my own strength, stay lean but not thin, and strong.

Ok la, I super admire girls with really nice define abs with no flabby arms.

Since I started watching The Biggest Loser, I love Jillian Michaels!! Bob and Dolvett too. But Jillian is my definite idol, she is petite (just 1-2 inches taller than me) among the Americans, once an overweight child, but look at her today!

The Biggest Loser contestants did give me a wake up call that since they are able to do it, why can't I? I know some must have look down on them on how they get to the path of being really overweight, but at least their determination are way over the respect bar. They are the best motivators and I love seeing how great they look in the final. Can't wait for Season 15!!

I've been doing Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution (a 90-day program) since 3rd June. Today I'm on Day 56 (week 8) and Sunday is my rest day according to the workout schedule. I've graduated from Phase 2 of the program. There are 3 phases, each phase last for 4 weeks. I will do 4 strength circuits and 2 cardio circuit per week.

The results? Not sure whether the result obvious or not, but I definitely improve. Currently, heaviest weight I have is 4lbs dumb bell. For some of the workout, I think I need more.

Above picture taken on the earlier stage of the workout. The below picture took few days ago.

I still have 4 more weeks to go. Maybe next time I should have arm pictures to compare as well.. Haha..

What I want for my birthday

I'm turning 23 today!
*throwing confetti on myself*

As the saying goes,
"One year older, one year wiser"

or take it a more Malaysian way, my favorite of all:
"You old liao"

Errmmm, thanks?

Well, as for me, I'll go for
"Today it will be the youngest day I will be, as well as the oldest I will be"

I know right, say already like I never say before right?
*self facepalm*

My scroll of what I want for my birthday:

#1
To thank God
Not only for today, everyday I'm thankful. I want to thank God for all He has guide me through. Everything that He had grant me, everything that He had took it out from my life, it is a journey worth taking with Him. Thank you for today.

#2
Time with my family & loved one
I'm thankful that this wish definitely comes true. Have been celebrating my birthday out of my hometown for years, finally I've got the chance to wake up on my lovely bed, get to see my Mom & Dad. I couldn't ask for more, but my list still goes on. Birthday can request more, right?
*sympathy puppy eyes*

#3
Stronger and healthier
I'm very aware that one does not get healthier or maintaining the good health condition by sitting and hoping it to be that way. Since I'm having a long holiday now, before one letter come to ruin it all, calling me to start working, I better keep myself moving before it is too late.

I've been a huge fan of Jillian Michaels, American toughest trainer. Some might not love her attitude, her workouts certainly kick my butt. Even though it is my birthday PLUS with the unwelcoming haze out there, I still stick with my schedule and routine on her Body Revolution program.

A lot people told me
"Your body ok what, why so hardcore?"
"Why do you still want to get fit and thin when you are not fat"

It is not really a fat and thin issue, at least not the main factor for me. There are people that have bigger body frame, but healthy in the inside.

I'm not hardcore at all, I only do 30 minutes of workout per day, I don't spend on gym membership. All I spend on were the dumb bells & yoga mat, which is a good investment in my opinion for the long run.

30 minutes, like 2% of my time in a day

Believe it if I told you I was once having hypercholesterolemia when I was 18, it runs in the family. Not all girls workout to be thin, I'm trying to battle a more serious genes that run in the family, besides hypercholesterolemia...

*Maybe this is not for everyone when speaking about fitness, just that I'm an avid believer of it*

#4
Haze, please go away
Something not only for me, but for all...

#5
Productive housemanship training
SOON, when the letter comes, I'll be called to work in one of the government hospital, either they grant my wish to place me in the hospital of my choice or anywhere they think I should be. From there, I will take up the responsibility as a houseman / house officer. Carrying the Dr title might sounds grand for anyone who sees it, but it takes a lot of responsibility.

I wouldn't ask for a smooth-sailing 2 years journey of housemanship because I know it won't. The challenges are waiting. And, that is what I should be expecting to turn me into someone better to stay in this field. I would only ask for a fruitful journey and always remember why I want to be there in the first place.

#6
Blessing to my family and friends
Thank you for all the birthday wishes throughout the day from friends since kindergarten til the end of my university days, bloggers that I've came across, family members either the closed one or the extended one, those that had only see my face on your mobile screen, seniors, juniors and teachers.

God bless all of you

***

I start typing this while I'm taking my rest after my workout. My mom called out from her room, "Go shower"

Right, I'm still Mummy's girl..

Since I stay silent, she came to see what I was doing and I told her I was writing my blog.

Her reply was
"Ooohh, blog ah? Okay..."

Then, she no longer urging me to go shower.. How supportive!

Ok ok, I know most of you already saying *chou chou* in your mind. Ok lor, go bam bam lor...

My #likeaboss Moment

#1
Flew to Penang last week (19.11.2011 - as stated in the ticket) to help my brother living his nomad, basically moving his stuff from his rented house in Penang

#2 My "#likeaboss" moment in the plane
(HTC Desire S' VGA camera failed!)

#3
You SEE! No one wants to sit with me!
Only me in this row and only 1 row left behind me in the plane
I couldn't really see people in front of me
So, I sit in this plane having this HIGH #likeaboss feeling!
Very first time like that

P.S - All the 29 rows of seat in front are ALL full except my row :D
My parents are sitting 1 row in front of me

#4
Malaysia is very green from the top view
Good for the eyes, I guess

#5
Higher up!
Really good morning weather that day
My entire 40 minutes flight was cloud watching and reading the food menu
Because I had nobody beside me to "people watching" for me

A short update here
Just want to "show off" my #likeaboss moment!
Okay, tataz!

Thanks for reading

That one Mid-Autumn

Mid-autumn this year passed when I was really busy preparing my patient's case presentation. After hibernating for such a long time in Neonatal Intensive Care Unite (NICU), where I myself wasn't very sure why we were posted there for 2 weeks when we were not allowed to do anything, but one thing - to look at the babies and their case notes only. Well, I enjoy being under the roof of 100% air conditioned building and watching babies hiccuping. (Adorable max max!) Other than that, I lost the skills of clerking the third person regarding paediatrics cases, which that explains why I had a fainting spell while preparing the presentation on mid-autumn night itself because I'm back to medical ward in Hospital Kuala Lumpur  (HKL) - a place where we no longer pampered with the cool air and the case notes weren't the main helper anymore.

Last year, I celebrated in Tanjong Karang, Kuala Selangor when I was doing my Public Health posting. Watched Contagion? Yeah, that movies remind me of what I was taught in the posting, the procedures done as the first line.

Mid-autumn super cheap seafood dinner in Sekinchan last year

Our masterpiece of the night :)

Year 2001

There was this one event which is still fresh in my memory - the morning of mid-autumn festival year 2001. Yeah, it was a decade ago, where we need a jet rewind for a moment.

It happened during the morning assembly in my primary school when I was in Standard 6. I was assigned to be the prefect of my own class to maintain their discipline throughout the assembly. (During assembly, 2 prefects will be assign to take care of each class. One standing in front and another one at the back. After the assembly, the prefects will bring them back to their respective class and keep on looking after the students until the teacher was there. It is seriously no fun, I tell you) So, I was the one standing at the back of my own class. You know, when your friend is the prefect that look after your class, discipline is really hard to maintain because they weren't scare of you and you will certainly trying to help them without getting caught.

During the long assembly with lots of point by the headmistress, one of my friend wanted to go to the toilet. I told her the Standard 6 toilet was the other way, but she insist to go to the other toilet because it was nearer. She left without waiting for me  (Another prefect's job is to accompany the student when she wanted to go to the toilet =.=). Due to the long long speech, students in my class starts talking (seniors what, more daring), where I have to go back and forth (lucky the other fella that stand in front not knowing what's at the back) telling them to be more well-maintained.

After the speech, our discipline teacher started to call out names, those that did not behave well throughout the assembly. The friend that went to the toilet just now was called, those talking in my class were called, I started to feel scared. Initially, she had stop calling names but then she paused for a moment - yes, my name was called last. All of us had to go up the stage in front of hundreds students. We were scolded for being not discipline enough during the assembly and we were not respecting the headmistress.

"Tell me what did the headmistress said just now"
That was what she asked all of us standing on the stage there because we were scolded for not paying attention. My memory wasn't that bad when I was at that young age, but the situation was terrifying. Since a few of my friends who were standing beside me on the stage replied nothing and the teacher was just right in front of a few of us, I list down the points mentioned. Being very angry, she said the points were wrong and asked why didn't I told the student that she went to the wrong toilet and it was unacceptable as a senior. It went on for quite long and some started to tears. It ended by punishing all of us to write 100 times of "Sorry, I will not do it again" to the headmistress. It was fresh in my memory because after the assembly, my class teacher came and told me that I had listed the headmistress' speech points correctly.

Anyway, I admitted by mistake in not doing well enough in maintaining the discipline of my own class, which wasn't easy. But was scolded for giving the right answer wrong, which I really hope this will not happen again to any teachers because they were teaching the students the wrong thing when they were right. That makes a memorable day in my primary school

Thoughts at 3.33am

Thoughts at 3.33am

Poor Baby Mac got to sit on iron board
Together he keeps me accompany
To arm myself to the battle field at 10.15am
Less than 7 hours to go
Less sleep
Less energy
But, a brain with a wave of information
I hope I had done enough
I want this to be the limit
I want this to be worth
Who knows what happened later?
Will the history repeated?
God, let me get through this

I regretted for my laziness
I regretted for my procrastination
I regretted for sleeping too much
I regretted for not doing well for the 8 weeks

Will I be punished?
Will I be lucky?
Will I be given one last chance?

Hormones are dancing
Biological clock needs asylum
Brain need to be preserved
For no loss of memory
No loss of information
So, that no loss of life in the future

My bed is calling
My blanket is spreading
My pillow is stacking
My plushie is waving (creepy)
I'm hallucinating
Baby Mac is drying

Eli, live with it
With the path you take
With the mountain you climb
With the sea you swim
With the jungle you venture
With the track you run
With the passion in your heart
With the world you live in
With the air you breathe
With the lives you will deal

Time won't stop ticking
World won't stop spinning
Lives won't stop coming
Death won't stop going
God won't stop giving up
I won't stop keeping it up

Limitations

Ignore this if you hate people complaining
It is always best to avoid angry people

You know how to find my rantings...
*just highlight the empty space down here*

Is there people in this world has no common sense at all?
Damn it
Do things only change after being told?
Fine

Need a rubber slipper for bathroom use when I injured my foot
I placed so damn at the side of the door of the bathroom
Not even blocking the way
Do you have to move it to the living room?
Look at that pail of you in the middle of the bathroom entrance

I'm only using the slow level of fan to dry my clothes
The switched was then off after 5 minutes
Save electricity?
Okay, I accept that
Then what's with the every morning so bright go on the lights in the room?
Leave the bathroom light on every evening

I have zero shower items inside the bathroom because all space were taken

Was told via note that I was suppose to pick up those hairs stucked in the bathroom
I'm doing it everyday
Yeah, even for you guys though

Someday I'm going to die of malnutrition

Breakfast:
Milo + oats
(when I have to go to class)
OR
Vanilla latte or Nescafe
(when I'm on holidays)
OR
Something unexpected
(when I'm with my uncle and cousins)

Lunch:
Hospital food
(which is not nice, not healthy and expensive)
OR
Bread + Tuna mayonnaise
(when I feel like eating bread while I'm not a fan of bread)
OR
Instant noodle
OR
Campbell's soup + snacks
OR
Something unexpected
(when I'm with my uncle and cousins)
OR
Nothing at all

Dinner:
Economy rice
(the uncle haven't start business yet after CNY til now)
OR
Instant noodle
(this is more common)
OR
Bread and coffee

Snacks like chips or biscuits

Only Milo
OR
Nothing at all

I want to make it clear that I'm NOT on diet

I'm NOT thinking I'm fat

The food here just doesn't appeal much to me and I hope the uncle selling economy rice is back soon
Public holidays even worst, most of the stalls are not open
I'm not good in cooking and show no interest

The only time I'm having great time and great food is only when "Something unexpected"

I'm damn hungry right now posting this but I lose my mood in eating
I seriously worried about this right now
I already achieved the weight I want but it keeps going down now in an unhealthy way

Someday I'm going to die of malnutrition!
(Not starvation, I still eat)

Hope we live happily ever after...

All the way from Singapore and it is mine now!

Heart their packaging a lot
Everything was packed nicely and it is either transparent plastic or white

Baby, you're so WHITE, stylish and cool

With super cool introduction and make me instantly click with you
Awwwwww.....

Muacks!

Hope Baby Pink (my previous dell laptop) don't see this!

Wedding Dinner that I know nobody

I was not invited to this wedding
I didn't know the bride or the groom
My uncle and cousins were invited, but the twins didn't want to attend
So, I'm replacing the twins, which mean taking up 2 places

Anyway, congratulations to Brian Kerk and Deborah Ooi
May you live happily ever after

Venue: Renaissance Hotel Ballroom

I didn't know anyone there, so I tried to online with my phone searching for wireless
It is a big hotel, of course they have wireless every spot I stand
No, I was totally wrong!
No wifi detected in the toilet!

I could detect the wifi in the ballroom, but it said RM36.80 per hour
Damn you!
(YJ, borrow your signature words for a moment)

The lovey dovey swans ice sculpture
We had pre-dinner and canapé at 7pm
These people crowding this place are all SUPER rich
The way those aunties people dress, drink and social!

I only get to talk to a few people that my uncle and cousin introduced to me
Most people there not my age, generation gap!

The camerawoman

My uncle and cousins' names were reserved under table number 20
Somewhere quite to the front and the so-called red carpet

Menu of the day!
I'll talk about the food soon
(Just keep reading)

Our gifts
The small bronze box filled with fruit cake, some get chocolate
The right one, I like this, it is a soap!
The groom's family works in United Plantation, where my aunt worked last time
So, soap is one of their product made from the palm oil

The stage and cakes

Uncle and cousin, Qi Tyng

The "Leong Qi" - Qi Tyng & Qi Wen (me)

Woohoo, I asked for the red wine
Those who saw my Facebook status, the waiter gave me a weird stare when I asked him the red wine
Perhaps I looked like kind of underage compared to the other guests there
(Like I said before, most of the guests were not my age)

They served chinese tea for everyone in very nice classy tea cup

Something to chew on before the dinner
Prawn crackers

Renaissance's Five Happiness Combination Platter
Like any other wedding dinner, this is always the first dish
I like the one far right, the fried dumpling
Others are prawn, crab, abalone mushroom with asparagus

Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Enoki Mushroom and Sun-dried Scallops
Well-cooked!
Not fishy and I wish to get another bowl

Oh ya, each table will be served by one waiter in charge
For our table, I would like to thank Mr Abbas for serving us and he was among the most efficient waiter there
We already start eating while other waiters still scooping for their guests

Roasted Crispy Chicken with Spicy Szechuan Broth and Golden Sesame Seeds
I would like it if it was more crispy and the not much of Szechuan taste
Prefer it to be more spicy
But the golden sesame seeds was a good blend!

Steamed Patin Fish with Sliced Ginger and Chinese Parsley
I'm not a fan of parsley
The fish is smooth and most importantly, fresh!
I love the gravy damn much

Seldom get to eat fish if I'm in my hostel

I forgot to take the picture of the Tiger Prawns with Spicy Garlic and Ginger
The prawns were juicy
I guess I was too excited because prawns are my top favourite

Braised Mushroom, Fungi Abalone with Dried Scallop and Vegetable
No comment on this
I guess I'm lucky because Mr Abbas gave me the biggest mushroom there, I love mushroom!

Braised Ee-Fu Noodles with Mushroom and Crabmeat
It tasted quite bland and I couldn't find the mushroom and crabmeat

Warm Sweetened Red Bean Paste with Lotus Seed
This is concentrated!
Non-sticky but the taste was more than enough to blow you off
Not a lotus seed lover, but good combinations

Wedding Fancy Duets
Cute!
The one on the left was jelly-like filled with red bean paste
The one on the right was filled with kaya
Love the sesame, and a lot too!

I finished the red wine but the chinese tea remains untouched!

5 things that I'll never forget

Top 5 things that I will never forget in 2010

#1
Caught talking during the camp when the commander was giving his speech when everyone else is talking and sleeping around me
(Why me?)

#2
Searching for my cursor on the television screen for 5 minutes in my life thinking my mouse had no battery

#3
Fell into the pond in Broga with my friends while kayaking
(Yeah, we were the only people that fell in that OMG-so-many-water-insects-and-shits pond)

#4
Having arm twitch and cramp halfway through rock climbing while everyone were looking at me why did I stopped halfway
(The instructor even asked me whether I want to quit!)
*In case you are curious, I did reached the top*

#5
Watching my friend's bed broke into half and she sinked in (because she was sitting on it) while I still can continue eating muruku until she cursed me!

Horsely Luck

While grabbing CLEO magazine in Popular yesterday, I stopped at the feng shui section
Lilian and Josephine Too's Horoscope 2011 books attracted me, nice cover anyway
I picked the Horse
(of course I took the one related to me)

This is what I can conclude after flipping through random pages

#1
My horoscope enemy -RAT

#2
Early of the year until March, I have argumentative love relationship
(Where to find someone to argue with me now?)

#3
Early of the year, I need to focus in my education
(WTH.. She They know I'm slacking.. Damn it!)

#4
March to April, generally my life is not quite getting into the year yet
(A better way to tell me I'm outdated)

#5
Love life in March to April is promising
(I'm going to prove them wrong! wakakkakaka)

In conclusion, somehow almost everything happened in my life for 1 whole month
What they put in there in the book, I guess no matter how they will get it right for 1/10, probability

Seeing my luck in the book not going anywhere, I put it back in the case
Feeling not that pleased and almost cursing, I turned and I saw Mitch Albom's book
Have a Little Faith

Oh well...
