Dark shadows and vanity table DIY

Feeling all victorian witchy today. Cleaning and decorating is so calming while watching Criminal minds, Hannibal movies and Dark Shadows, which I started to watch again. Only soap opera I am willing to watch! I love the mood in it and how every motion is so over the top and they need to watch in the great distance where nobody else doesn´t see.. Music is amazing and even though I already know the family secrets (because the movie and all) I still love to wait and see how Victoria reveals them.

I didn´t tell you guys that I got a chance to go botanical garden in Turku early in this year, I wish I would have took more pictures but what can you do.. It was so beautiful! This little pong even had koi fishes in it! I had never seen them before and they were huge, I wish I had pictures of them too..

And look what goodies I am getting this week! New little babies for my cabinet of curiosity (add zillion hearts here). The little batties are the ones I am waiting for the most, 2 skeletons and 1 dried one, so cute! All of these will look amazing in our bat cave. Little clocks will have transformation to new covers for few skeletons. Few years ago I had 1 globe clock but I think I throw it away accidentally..

My current painting project is my vanity table which I keep in the bedroom. I don´t use it that much and mostly it´s just covered well.. stuff. I decided to make it more me, so maybe it will be in more use. Mu husband found it for me and it is second hand, it was free. So only thing that cost in this DIY for me, is the paints, which I already bought for my other projects and didn´t use that much so this was perfect. Paint was dry after 2 hours and the big black one was so good one for this one. I even have still to paint something else! I still need to fix the drawers.. or maybe I want them to be ombre.. really can´t decide. I got the idea to paint insides red from GIY´s blog (which is amazing, go check it out). I have seen many others to do this too, but I think I first see it on there. Absolutely gorgeous dresser by the way. I think I want the ornaments or something beautifully detailed things in my vanity table too. And later on I am going to get new nobs, maybe crystal or victorian detailed, which I love oh so much.

One of the biggest last years things was tentacle monsters and normal octopus prints. Octopus beast legens are at least almost 1000 years old, we can see where the writes had so awesome ideas for their stories. So, question is, does the H.P. Lovecraft story about world ending Ctulhu (The Call of Cthulhu, written in 1926) hits you, does the 15 meters high Kraken from Norway and Greenland makes you want to watch more movies (like Pirates of Caribbean) or have you read Jules Verne´s (the man is awesome btw) Twenty thousand leagues under the sea from 1870? Is the octopus still IN or is it OUT?

Fun facts about octopus

-Octopuses have three hearts. Two pump blood through each of the two gills, while the third pumps blood through the body. Their blood is blue.

- All octopuses are venomous, but only the small blue-ringed octopuses are known to be deadly to humans.

- If all else fails, an octopus can lose an arm to escape a predator's grasp and re-grow it later with no permanent damage. 

 -Octopus sees the same thing upside down as right side up because of its horizontal pupils.

-Male octopus will die few months after mating. Female will survive until her eggs hatch. She will die of starvation, because she will not eat three months (time needed for eggs to hatch). 

- They can change their color and texture of the skin to blend with environment and become invisible. 

-Like other cephalopods, they are bilaterally symmetric

-Octopuses are highly intelligent, possibly more so than any other order of invertebrates.

Octopus tentacles have a mind of their own. Two-thirds of an octopus’ neurons reside in its tentacles, not its head. As a result, the tentacles can problem solve how to open a shellfish while their owners are busy doing something else, like checking out a cave for more edible goodies. The tentacles can even react after they’ve been completely severed. In one experiment, severed tentacles jerked away in pain when researchers pinched them.

Half human, half wolf

Lately I have been watching horror movies yet again. When you start think about horror movies in bigger view, you can´t wonder why so many in goth culture like to watch horror movies. Obviously everybody doesn´t like them, we all are individuals and you can´t like all the things, not only because what other might expect from sertain style, lifestyle or type of person you are. Anywho, why most of the goths like horrormovies, is, I think, because when the movies has been made visually well , the outcome is pure eyecandy. My today´s movie, The Wolfman (2010), is compination of many basic horror elements. Graveyards, big mansion, scary beast in the fog, angry mob trying to get the quilty one, howling in the full moon...

Yes, I am talking about werewolfes. Movie is beautifully made. Only thing that bothers me, is the outlook of the werewolf. But we all have own ideas what kind of those creatures are supposed to be like. Transformer was well made, plot includes only what is important and I didn´t get bored while watching it. In victorian era they knew how to sorrow and dress. Yep, because the Hannibal lecter and Mr Smith (Emily Blunt with her beautiful dresses, to die for), I give this four sculls. I recommend this to everyone who loves victorian era and wolfies. Watch it with candle light and good porcorn.

Kapusin masennukseni syövereistä kaivelemaan mielen sijasta vaatekaappia ja koitin saada itseni piristymään ah niin ihanan pinnallisuuden avulla. Aurinko oli jo aikaa sitten painunut mailleen, joten minä sitten yritin ärsyyntymisen rajamailla saada kuvista edes jotenkin selviä, siinä tietenkään täydellisesti onnistumatta. Eipä sillä auringonvalolla olisi kyllä varmaan kauheasti eroa tähän kyllä ollut, täällä on nimittäin satanut vettä jo ties kuinka monta päivää. Narskuvan lumen sijasta täällä taitaa olla pian tulva. Ekä siinäkään mitään, sisällä voi katsella lempparisarjoja, käyttää peeptoe korkkareita ja ottaa mallia kissoista jotka ottaa rennosti.

Loppupäivä sujuukin makoisasti pakaten Vaasan reissua varten (ylihuomenna liikkeelle!), möljöttäen telkkarin ääressä ja varmaan lukiessa Leena Lehtolaisen uutta pokkaria (jonka Jani osti mulle joululahjaksi, awesome!).  Tämän hetken rakkauksiin kuuluu muuten mm. Doctor Jekyl and Mister Hyde, kaikenlaiset elokuvat ja tahtoisin lukea kirjankin. Mistäs minä sellaisen löydän, vinkatkaa!

I got myself out of my depressive mind and I found happiness in my closet. This day will go watching favorite movies and series, just relaxing and packing (going to Vaasa on Friday!). I wish I could be like my cats. They just relax all day and then they want food and then they relax again. How easy and purrrfect way to live. By the way my love at the moment: Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde movies. I want to read the book, give it to me!
