Scraps of Darkness Design Team Reveal!!!

Scraps of Darkness is proud to introduce our beautiful kit for April
"SAKURABANA"

Reminder: Today is the last day to get your applications in for our Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance design team call!

Filled to brim as always with beautiful Fabscraps, Glitz and Bo Bunny!
Top it all off with Prima flowers and Melissa Frances Resins and it's a kit you can't resist!

My first layout to share is one I have wanting to do since the loss of this beautiful songbird Miss Whitney. I am a big fan of her magnificent voice and was filled with sorrow when the world lost this treasure.

The Voice
These Serenity papers by Bo Bunny are really just begging to be fussy cut and so I did!

The red die cut shapes were cut on my Cameo. I detailed the large red flowers with gold stickles. The small brown and black circles were also fussy cut and clipped to form flowers. The alpha is a file that Lisa Gregory (What a beautiful mess) shares on her blog.

As soon as I unveiled my fabulous kit this month I knew I wanted to scrap a Geisha. Ahh but where to find one for an impromptu photo shoot? Lucky for me I found one on photobucket and did some editing. I removed the unwanted people and buildings from the background and oh...sorry... other Geisha girl... just wanted one! I added a texture and effects to the background and love how it turned out.

Geisha
I had a smack down with that gorgeous piece of Dusty Attic. She was not cooperating with all my painting, misting and repainting. I finally came up with the result I was looking for.

I painted the chipboard in acrylic paint and then stamped it with a crackle stamp. I try a lot of techs on my DA and always seem to prefer the stamping over the paint or ink. The flowers on the left are Heartfelt Creations Stamps Petite Poinsettias

Each month we get to work with a sketch designed for us by our artist Suepup a/k/a Charolotte
Scraps of Darkness also offers a color add on each month with our signature add on! We love this feature and this month I decided to do a mixed media canvas from the sketch inspiration showcasing the beautiful products in this add on.

I purchased the image from MagyMai711 etsy shop. I treated the canvas with Lindy's Tawny, Turquoise, Rudophs Red Nose, Marigold and the Prima Mask that came with the add on. I used a texture paste with the mask and distress ink.
We also received some Kaisercraft rub on quotes in our kits. I added this to the canvas as well.
My final layout to share today is one I created using the Glitz paper in this months kit.

Insight
This photo of my dd was taken a few years ago by my friend Gina. I hire her to do a couple of photoshoots a year. Love her work!

The bike on this paper reminded me of this photo and I thought it was a perfect fit.
I cut the leaves our on my Cameo and used distress ink to color them.
We received a Prima stamp set in our kit with sweet little birds and flowers. I used those as some fillers in my flowers and leaves.
I used the Carnations Creations Die from Heartfelt Creations to create my flowers.

I hope you enjoyed this months reveal. Be sure to stop in Scraps of Darkness to see this kit in it's entirety as well as the other designers work!

Scraps of Darkness Design Team Reveal!!!!
Introducing "Winters Eve" our December Kit!

"Winter came down to our home for one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again" ~ Bill Morgan Jr.

Melinda has assembled another stunning kit! How she does it month after month is beyond me but I am so happy I get to design with them! This months kit features Bo Bunny, Creative Imaginations and Glitz!
In addition to the main kit, Scraps of Darkness has several add ons to enhance your creativity with these kits. Two must have's are the exclusive Color Add On and the beautiful coordinating paper add on! I love both of them. This months color features 6 Lindys Mist and Prima Canvas!!!!

My first layout this month was inspired by our sketch created by Charlotte!

I like to use new punches each month to go with my new kit and when I saw this new Martha Stewart Blooming Vines you know I had to have it!
I used  Lindys Bougainvillea Fuchsia (one of the colors in the add on) and colored the Bo Bunny Enchanted paper design with it.
We always get a wonderful selection of the newest and most beautiful flowers in our kits from Petaloo and Prima. I like to make a lot of my flowers, especially now that I am designing for Heartfelt Creations. This month I really wanted to show how to use those flowers in the kit and get the most out of them.
I took my large Prima  flower apart which was organza and satin and used just the organza petals on this layout. I used the Petaloo Color Me Crazy flowers in the center which I inked for a hint of color.
This layout is of my hubby and I about 25 years ago at my Sister in Laws wedding! Another item I wanted to show this month is how to mix the beautiful papers in the kit. I colored my Bo Bunny again to add the pink and mixed the Enchanted paper with the Glitz.
Again, I took apart my Prima flowers and created three flowers from the one. I added the Petaloo in the centers again with inked edges. I added the Dusty Attic frame around the photo from my stash. The chandelier was one of the beautiful goodies in this months kit.
I love this gorgeous Christine Adolph paper! Purple is one of my favorite colors and I love the wintery feel to this collection. I did a little photoshopping, adding some sparklies and purple tint to the photo.
I combined the gorgeous black glittery Prima vine with more flowers that I took apart and added centers to. This got me a ton of the same color flower to cluster on this page.
I added some diamond dust, Glimmer Mist in Pearl and used my new Martha Stewart Skyland Snowflake punch and of course...some butterflies.
I really love the tiny alpha Mel selected this month. They work beautifully with Tim Holt's Tattered Banner Die. I fussy cut the Bo Bunny Enchanted paper and painted on Lindys Frosted Forget Me Nots. I also inked the paper in walnut to give it a vintage look.
The leaves are a spellbinders die and I sprayed them in Lindys Black Orchid. The photo doesn't do it justice. The color is stunning. A very silvery shimmery color. Gorgeous!!!!

Thank you all for stopping by to see the reveal today! Please hop over to Scraps of Darkness and check out the kit in it's entirety. Don't forget to stop by Design Team sistas blog to see their stunning creations!

MoRe GcD and Glitz

I managed to squeeze in one more layout using GCD  and Glitz the other day while I was waiting for my DT package to arrive. Since we are buried under so much snow I thought my package was too. Alas I had to track it down and it was waiting for me at the Post Office! ( I wish my mail carrier would have clued me in on that!)

This is a photo of my DD and I. I think these Melody Ross papers beg to be detail cut! I made my own flower clusters by cutting apart the paper that you need see as the frame. The flowers were perfect to do this with. I also made a little banner for my title with little ties out of paper just for a little whimsy.
