Alarming

Lately our fire alarm has been going off for no reason at all (including the entire time we were in Fallon for Thanksgiving...our neighbors really loved that).

This morning, starting at 6:00, it woke us up rather unpleasantly. I admit my heart rate was raised a couple notches, but do you know who was REALLY scared? That's right...Piper.

So Jimi went to work unplugging all the detectors and dusting them off. The alarms continued to go off and/or chirp throughout the morning. Piper was nigh onto a heart attack.

We went throughout the day, I went grocery shopping, Jimi painted his bike, and all the while Piper was nowhere to be found. We assumed she was upstairs cowering.

Then as we sat down to lunch, there was a knock at the door.
Our neighbor asked, "do you own a golden retriever?"

"yes..."

"she's out here"

We look outside, and there is Piper sitting by the car.

She had evacuated without our knowing.

Poor Piper :(
At least she/he (i don't know which) knew to take the car. Forget that running thing - too much work!

Jimi is officially a closet biking enthusiast. Repainting a bike? Intense Jim.

I extend my condolences to your neighbors. Yikes.

Oh, that Piper she's a character. Did she get her Christmas present from Oskar's ghost?

Some smoke detecters are CO2 detectors also. Maybe yours is that is why it was going off.

Try new battaries in ALL detectors. They are networked together, so if one gets low, they all can chirp.

We have one that chirps on occasion and it is WAY up on that high part of our ceiling (you know, right when you walk in our door). And we are way too lazy to figure out how to get up there. So I just cuss at it when it starts to chirp. Hopefully that battery will hold out a little longer...
