It's True!

I heard a rumor that there is this magical park in Boulder City, and when the sun goes down, hoards of big horn sheep come out to graze. Jimi and I were skeptical; maybe we'd see one or two - they probably only come out once in a great while...
We pulled up, and there they were, silently grazing! We automatically went into whisper mode, afraid we would scare them away. We just stood there watching them eat. It was almost cooler than the San Diego Zoo. (If you've ever been there, 50% of it is made up of goats and sheep, I swear)
Look close, the sign says "no dogs allowed", so we had to leave Piper in the car. But don't worry, we went to another park later to run around.

Cool. In May, I had 3 animals on left on my list that I wanted to see live: bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and whales. The mammals both live on Ben Lomond, and my neighbors claim to see them with binoculars, but I never had. I seem to be the only guy who never came across them hiking.

I had my first encounter with a wild montain goat @ Mt. Rushmore in May, whale watched in Alaska in July, and saw a Bighorn @ Flaming Gorge in August.

I guess I can die now. Sigh...

(wow. I sound like my mom)

seriously brandon, kelli beat me to it, but all three are mammals.

that is so cool, i love the first picture, it's so odd to see all the color of the playground, and then the sheep.

Glad you found this little "gem" here in the desert. I am hoping to make a little family trip with the girls over to that park now that the weather has started to cool down. Did Piper go crazy in the car being able to see the bighorns? Sisko would most likely spazz. We see the bighorns a lot up in the desert behind our house when riding the rhino. They are quite impressive, I think.

Yeah for Boulder City! You are a good citizen for leaving Piper in the car as most people ignore that sign and let their dogs run crazy and scare the sheep away. Sorry Piper...

PS- Don't ever do a yard sale. Biggest pain in the butt and they suck!

See!! They do exist! Well, not that you thought they didn't actually exist, but they do come to the park!
Remember that one time when I told you about the hot springs hike I went on down by the Dam? There were tons of them in this deep gorge, I thought I was gonna get crushed in a stampede, but they just scaled straight up the cliffs to the top, it was amazing....and scary!
