Easter egg? Not really! Its Saachi ka ghosla(nest)

My 50th post in almost 1 yr of blogging with some active phases and some not so active..! Didn't realize time flew so fast..this wonderful blog world has given me soo many friends, so many ideas, tips. Most importantly it was a big support during one of the most difficult phases of my life..thank you all my friends out there for reachin out to me through this blog..
May our friendship always grow. May we always try to have a positive outlook towards life and think of everything happening around as a blesing. Rather than finding faults, may we try to find the good in everyone. Try to help the needy in all possible ways..God bless

Made this baby page when I was at my native place with mom and dad..The photo is of my daughter sleeping snugly in her granpa's lap..somehow looking at that photo I felt like a cute eggie.I cut it out into an oval shape. I had this cute little nest which I had brought from US with a golden bird..I thought I can make somthing out ot it..it was 11.30 in the night!! u guessed right..I am noctornal :) Mom and dad were already asleep, I quietly worked on this nest and little egg. Mom and dad were amused in the morning seeing their grand daughter in the nest!!
I had not done the rest of the decoration, but had this brief concept. I had leant basic ceramic work from my dear sister Jyoti during that time and thought will make some ceramic birds to complete the page.
Jyoti was soo excited (me too to show it to her coz we both looove crafting and doing it together is all the more fun...:)!!) and happy to see this and then we both sat and did the ceramic work. Will post a tutorial soon..
I thought this is a good time to share this, so I can send this to the easter challenges..wat say? looking forward to your lovely comments..

Happy gangaur

Wishing Happy gangaur to all my marwadi friends..

I just love gangaur pooja..it is so colorfuland vibrant. This is one of the very important festivals for marwadi/rajasthani women. The word Gangaur is derived from two words, 'Gan' and 'Gauri' these meaning are 'Siva' and 'Parvati'. Gangaur is celebrated in the honor of Goddess Gauri; the Gauri is represented as the symbol of virtue, devotion and a perfect married woman.
This festival continues for 16 days , in these days newel married girl’s daily do pooja with Isar and Gauri images, the married ladies pray for the welfare of their husbands, also the unmarried girls worship the goddess to get the husband of their choice.
Starting the festival, the ladies decorate their hands and feet with Mehndi, Beautifol earthern idols of gaur are decorated with small clothes with jari on them.

The story behind this goes like this..this festival is celebrated during the period, goddess Parvati had returned to her parental home to bless her friends with marital bliss. On the last day of her stay, she was given a grand farewell by her loved ones. The festival ends in rejoicing, with the arrival of Shiva to escort his bride, Gauri, home, accompanied by horses and elephants. The Festival involves colorful dances, musical performances and joyful celebrations.

Today is the 16th /last day of the fest..this year me and my daughter did the pooja..yes it was her 1st gangaur :)

Here is the gangaur geet sung by all the women..found it bit difficult to get this...played youtube 16 times for the pooja!! (yes this has to be sung 16 times)
Thought will upload it for my reference as well as if anyone like me needs it! :)

Each day is a gift - create special memories with it!!

This is one of my favourite projects I must say...Made this lovely garden page with a bird house.
The fence is definitely an inspiration from the beyound grey challenge. The birdies looking at each other, cute, are'nt they?

The bird house is a cutout from a paper bag. I love the tree on which the bird house is sitting..I was thinking of using paper stip or ice cream stick for it. But I wanted a real 3D effect. Me and my baby were out in the garden over the weekend, out of the blue this beautiful twig caught my attention..viola! I got my stem for the bird housie :)
I wanted to make the vine, just the way it has come out..perfect, isnt it! ;)

ok enough of bragging!!!
The photo can be changed, got this idea from a dear blogger friend Indira.
I used paper piecing, quilling in this project. I made a frame of handmade paper to give it a compelte look. Thanks K Jo for the lovely paper!
P.S The photo marks the home coming of my daughter..yeh the little one is in my arms..not very visible, I guess..it was the happiest day of my life!
Sorry for posting soo many pics..but I think I cant get enough of it :)
Do let me know how you liked it..

Baby food - home made cerelac

Hello all my food blogger friends! You must be thinking I have completely got out of touch with cooking! Thats not the case dearies. My little baby and my latest craft obsession kept me away from food blogging, but I think I am back now :)

This is a very healthy food for babies told to me by my SIL. I started this for my baby from the age of 6 months. You can prepare the powder and keep it in an air tight container and use it for a month or two. I prefer to prepare in less quantity..as mentioned below, so that I can make it fresh and often..the addition of jeera makes it quiet tasty for the baby. You can also add 1-2 almonds in this.

Ingredients :

1. 1 small cup rice (uncooked)
2. 1 small cup uncooked Moong Dhal(green with cover would be better, can use washed one also)
3. 1/2 cup Whole wheat
4. 3-4 teaspoon Jeera (cumin seeds)

Procedure :

Wash rice, daal and wheat separately and let it dry for about a day or two till it is completely dry. Dry roast rice , dhal, wheat and jeera separately. Cool and then grind all of the above into a fine powder.
Store this in an air-tight container.

While preparing for the baby:
Take a small frying pan and a teaspoon of pure ghee. Roast about 2-3 teaspoon of the above powder in ghee.

Add water. Let it cook for 3-4 mins till a paste is formed.

You can keep teh consistency of the paste thick or liquidy depending on how the baby would be comfortable in having it. Add little salt/sugar as per taste. needed.

Though I am a bit late, want to send this to
