Halloween 2013

October 31st, 2013 - Our first Halloween in the new house

I can't say how thankful I am to have a good relationship with our seller. I feel like I text her every other day about random things related to Northern KY. For example, do you have a house sitter you recommend? the down low on the neighbors? what color paint is in the powder room? the best dry cleaner? and how many trick or treating kiddos should I plan for?
Thank goodness I did ask her that or I would have not been prepared. Let me tell you, they came out of the woodwork. The weather here could not have been more crappy for those lil ghosts and goblins. Rainy, windy and 45 degrees. Yucky with a capital Y!
That did not stop them from coming though! In about 45-50 minutes we had at least 75-90 lil kiddos and boy were they cute. It then came a torrential down pour and we called it an early night and turned out all the exterior lights. Luckily we did not run out of candy. Who wants to be the new neighbor on the block that runs out of candy??? Not this gal!
Mission Accomplished!

Here's a lil look into our evening....

I was ready in my fuzzy vest (and might i add layers and layers of clothes), ear warmers and oodles of candy in my bucket.
The doggies didn't exactly know what to think about all the costumes, but they settled pretty fast.

And since Halloween ended early in our neighborhood due to inclement weather, we had a little fun of our own.
Of course the doggies had to have their costumes.
Uggie was less than thrilled about being Buzz Lightyear. Sorry Uggie Sue, it was the only one that would come close to fitting you. Maybe we can work on that figure before next year.

And my sweet Bailey Boy was Nemo
I could just squeeze the love right out of him.

Let me just say that I am not the biggest fan of halloween. In fact, we hardly ever do big costume parties and all that jazz. For the past three years, we have enjoyed spending the evening at home... handing out candy to kiddos in our neighborhoods and entertaining ourselves with the doggies and their costumes. I wouldn't change a thing either.

Hope y'all had a great Halloween. Now bring it on Thanksgiving. I can't wait for you!

good things still come in small packages

A day or two after halloween this came in the mail.
My favorite part is the return address :-)

And just for the record...I still live in my lil palace with my lil baily boy and that ain't changing anytime soon. There will be no living with members of the opposite sex until a marriage certificate and a big ole fat rock is on my left hand. Just so we are clear. Capish? :-)

Although I am on only 3 years away from 30,ohgosh i think i may throw up,  my moma still sends me care packages and holiday goodies. Always has and always will. She is pretty awesome.

Look what was inside

Homemade carmel corn

homemade popcorn balls...one of my faves. she makes them every year for trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood

My lil package also had some sweet treats and made my day. I love getting mail, especially the kind packed with love straight from home :-)

Happy Friday and cheers to a fabulous weekend!!

Halloween 2011 and a trip to the emergency room....

I must confess...I am not a huge Halloween fan. I didn't even dress up this year. whooopsie! But guess who did...Bailey boy and Miss Uggie.

Bailey was the great pumpkin

And Uggie was a pajama mama and wore candy corn PJs

Don't they look so thrilled? :-)

And I just had to snap a photo of uggie's tiny hiney....I couldnt resist.

The doggies patiently awaited for the trick or treaters....

While I tried to capture some of the fall beauty around the neighborhood

Uggie did so well with the trick or teaters...but Bailey, not so much.
He thought every little 3 and 4 year old should be greeted with 95 pounds of love and a big ole sloppy kiss.
He had to spend most of his halloween watching from the window.

And for kicks and giggles we swapped the doggies halloween costumes.
As you can see, Bailey looks like he is ready for a flood in those pajamas. Uggie pulled them off so much better.

It was the first halloween the 4 of us had spent together in the new house. It felt so right. We had about 30 or 40 trick or treaters, but could only stand the chilly air for about an hour. Plus, I thought Bailey was gonna have an anxiety attack if we didn't get back in the house. That or the door was gonna be ruined from all the scratching he was doing.  My dog is so spoilt...yes i know.

After the halloween festivities, grandma here I decided to call it a night around 9pm. That is when I got a text from my parents. It said "sis, please call the house as soon as you can." Eeeek, i thought. I immediately thought something was wrong with my grandparents, however,  it was my baby brother.

My dad said "sis, your brother is on his way to the Emergency Room at UK" (university of ky hospital)
My heart stopped

My dad went on to explain that baby bro had dislocated his elbow at a late night football practice and they were unable to get his elbow back into place. He said they may have to do surgery if they can not make the proper adjustments. I never moved so fast. I jumped up, grabbed a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, forgot my bra, and slid into a pair of boots that were by the door. I prayed the whole way to the ER that he was ok. I was so worried about him. He has been through so many injuries the last 2 years. He was just released to play last week after this ankle injury happened several weeks back.

Gross, I know.

I walked into the ER and asked the receptionist if he was here. She said "they are on their way...we just got report"

I was thinking in my head....REPORT?!?! Is he coming in an ambulance...i was so confused and concerned.

It was at that moment I looked back and there was lil baby bro walking into the ER with cleats, football pants and pads, and an under shirt still on from practice. He was shaking and holding his arm into place. I just wanted to cry for him.

We immediately were taken back to the room and 3 hours later
x-rays and a consult revealed no fracture...thank goodness. The elbow appeared to be back in place after a what was a sever dislocation.
They casted him, medicated him, and sent us on our merry way.
He saw his sport medicine doctor the next day and the doc believes there is still severe damage to ligaments, tissue, and muscles surrounding the joint that may result in surgery.
We wont know until the swelling subsides and a MRI is conducted.
Poor guy....it just seems like he cant catch a break in the injury department.
We are praying he doesnt have to have surgery (he just had shoulder surgery last spring)

So that was my halloween....calm and unexpected all at the same time.

Hope ya'll are having a great week....tomorrow is friday!! Woot Woot
