Our Trip to the SEC Tourney

If you follow me on insta you already know that Kev and I, along with one of our absolute favorite couples, traveled to ATL for the SEC tournament two weeks ago. Kev and I have always been die hard UK fans. Cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats is something we love to do together. This was our first SEC tourney and we have already booked our hotel for the 2015 tournament next year. To say we had a blast is such an understatement.

We headed down I75 south Thursday afternoon with DANAicka driving us and car packed full of marley lilly, lulu and UK gear. Hubbys in the back. Wifeys in the front.

From the moment we arrived in Atlanta, there were Kentucky fans everywhere! I am talking EVERYWHERE. We have always heard that the SEC tourney is like having a home court advantage for the Cats, but nothing prepared us for how many KY fans would actually take over downtown Atalanta. So much fun. Kentucky fans are crazy y'all!

Dana and I were already throwing up three goggles in the hotel lobby. The sweet lady at the Marriott front desk got the biggest kick out of us and we made friends with her instantly.

We settled into our rooms before heading over to the Georgia Dome to scope out our competition in the first round of games.

And of course Dana and I wore our matching y'all shirts that she had picked up for us. So freakin cute!!!!!

We scoped out LSU for out matchup on friday. After the game we headed to dinner at  Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria. Was super yummy. I am such pizza and beer gal through and through.

Day 2 - we had a casual afternoon and headed to the afternoon session of games and met up with one of my college buddies for lunch at TacoMac right by the Dome.

Dana and Chris did some morning shopping and met up with us in in the afternoon just in time for the morning session games.
We headed back to our hotel to get ready for the first Kentucky game of our trip. Dana slapped some pretty eyelashes on me and I fixed her up in a headband. She's so precious and freakin gorgeous.
We cheered on our Cats to a big W over LSU.
Final Score 85-67

Kentucky fans literally took over the downtown scene after the game. As soon as we walked into the restaurant after the game, the hostess literally said "here they all come in their blue."
We had dinner our second night at Legal Seafood and were a little unimpressed with our food and our service. But hey, we weren't gonna let it rain on our parade.

Day 3
We had an early lunch at Hudson Grille and decided to head to the dome early to catch the Florida/Tennessee game.
We were hoping Tennessee would secretly beat Florida and may have turned into Vols fans for at least the  40 minutes of the game.

We continued our winning steak over Georgia and were so pumped to spend another night in Atlanta to cheer on the Cats against Florida.....a very awaited rematch!
Our team was finally playing like the team we had hoped for all year. So much momentum going into the championship game.
The hubbys played along and took Dana and I to Buckhead to do a little shipping at lululemon and Nordstrom. Bless their hearts....they married two women who absolutely love to shop.
We looked high and low for NeNe, but no luck. We settled for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and it didn't disappoint. Our server also entertained us with some very peculiar stories that had all the tables beside of us cracking up. She was a hott mess to put it mildly.

Day 4
Sunday morning came and Kev and I were like kids on Christmas morning. Just dying for a win over Florida.
We cabbed down early to have mimosas and lunch at Dantanna's and the big blue nation was out in full force.

C-A-T-S cheering erupting about every 10 minutes. It was such a fun atmosphere to be a part of.

The Cats ended up loosing by one point to Florida in the SEC championship game. It was a true heart breaker. I think everyone in that dome, including Florida fans, thought we had the game won. We just came up short the last 19 seconds of the game and it stung. It stung hard as we all stood there in shock that we had just lost. (oh and btw -I am so sick of the Florida Gators.....so sick of them)

We pulled up our big guy and girl panties up and held our KY heads high. We were proud of our team. That night we had dinner at Pittypat's Front Porch and drowned our sorrows in fried green tomatoes, cornbread and fried chicken and called it an early night as we would head back to KY early monday morning.

Regardless of the loss, we had an amazing time with Chris and Dana. Traveling with them was so fun and easy. I love how well we all get along. It's always a guaranteed good time. We may have already planned our next couples trip......to sunny Florida in June. Absolutely can't wait!!!

Let's Talk KY Basketball

For those of you who don't know, Kev and I are HUGE UK Basketball fans.
We love love love Coach Cal and his cats!
And unless you have been living under a rock, you know that they UK Wildcats are kind of a big deal this year in college basketball.
(like we are almost every year)
Ahem, Ahem.....7 national championships on our mission for number 8.
What? What?

UK just happened to be the overall #1 seed in the NCAA tourney this year and those games just happened to be played an hour away from Lexington.

Insert the YUM center located in Louisville, KY.

Kev surprised us with tickets to the 3rd round NCAA games to cheer on our wildcats.
We were stoked!
I may have been hoping for a UCONN re-match (they did knock us out in the final four last year), but we settled for Iowa state).
He booked us a free room via his Mariott points that was literally directly across from the arena.
Major perk!
We would then spend our St. Patrick's Day weekend in nothing other than KY BLUE!!

We dropped the doggies off at their pet hotel and headed up I-64 to the ville.
I had my game face on.
Catching Kevin Rex off guard.

We threw on some more blue for pre-gaming with some friends.

And you know I be rocking my boots

We met up with our friends Ron and Erin for some Mexican and St. Patty's Day brewskis

Goggle eyes....Holla!
That's what Ky players do when we shove a 3ball in your face :-)

The YUM center was amazing.
Literally it felt like we were playing in Rupp Arena.
The crowd was electrifying and there were seas of blue everywhere you looked.
90 percent or more of the crowd were fans of the big blue nation that came to cheer on their cats in full force.
It was soooooo much fun.

We kicked some Iowa state booty and are moving on to the sweet 16 for a bitter match up with Indiana.
They are the only other team besides Vandy to beat us this season.
We are out for REVENGE.
Kev and I have been so tempted to drive to Atlanta Catlanta this weekend for another taste of March Madness.

It was mine and Kev's first NCAA tourney and it was so special because of the atmosphere.
It was basically a home UK home game on steroids.
It was so neat to see the streets of Louisville, an arch nemesis, filled with blue.
Everywhere you looked there were KY fans jacked up for the game.
It was nutso!
We are so proud of our team this season and we love that they have our city on fire for them.
Us Kentucky fans are pretty passionate about our basketball and we feel like this is our year to hang another banner in Rupp.
Fingers crossed.
If you don't have a team or your team got beat out already, cheer on our wildcats.
I promise they are super fun and exciting to watch.
:-)

Needless to say, it was a fabulous St. Catrick's Day Patrick's Day weekend.

Go Big BLUE!!!

Us crazzzzy Cats fan got a taste of what we love best here in the bluegrass...UK BASKETBALL! Only KY appreciates basketball in August. Monday night we stormed downtown Lexington to cheer on our Kentucky Pros players vs. the Dominican Republic basketball team at an exhibition game. Coach Cal is gearing up for the world basketball games. I mean who else would you want to be coaching the US men's basketball team other than the University of Ky coach.....duh?!?!  For weeks the headlines have read

"Former Kentucky players, now in the NBA, will return to the basketball capital of the world to play the Dominican Republic National Team - coached by John Calipari - in an exhibition game at  the legendary Rupp Arena."

It was almost too much to handle to have all these amazing players under one roof! It was truly every UK wildcat fan's dream! I mean Rajon Rondo and John Wall on the same court makes me wanna pee my pants a little. It was glorious!

Sporting our KY Blue

I never get tired of this view!

Here is a glance of just some of the players that played in the exhibition game.

Mr. John Wall himself. Here in Lexington, he has a shot named after him at our local bars. Ummm hello?!? have you ever heard of the John Wall dance. It was a youtube hit last basketball season and of course he had song name after him too. He helped bring KY basketball back to the TOP. Right where we belong.

Did I mention he was the number one draft pick? He now plays for the Washing Wizards. He is a local celebrity around these here parts.

Mr. Rajon Rondo.
A born and raised Ky native. Played at UK for two years. You made know him better as a.....

Boston Celtic. Us wildcat fans love cheering our UK players in the big leagues. No matter what color they sport, we know they bleed blue.

Tayshaun Prince. Hail the KING! He is one of my all time favorite UK Players. Tayshaun led our team to our last national championship in 1998.

He now wins national championships for the Detroit Pistons. We loved having him back in the bluegrass last Monday night!

And who can forget about Demarcus Cousins? He brought some serious swagger back to our winning tradition.

He was part of the 2009-2010 season that produced not one, not two, not three, but FIVE NBA first round draft picks. Not trying to brag or anything ....hehe

We also had Jodie Meeks grace the big blue nation last night. He is most famous for scoring 54 points in a single game versus our arch nemesis, the University of Tennessee.

And now plays for the 76ers.

It was a ton of fun!

Everyone there got a free carryout pizza to pick up this week at their leisure compliments of Mr. Papa John himself. That is like 20,000 plus pizzas. Crazy?!?!

So tonight....i took a break from the gym, from the hustle and bustle of the busy work week and have my tush parked on the couch. I am spending the even with Papa John and Miss Stella. Wouldn't have it any other way.  What a great way to get through the weekly hump day.

Also, wanted to say thank you to all your sweet comments. You gals are the best! You are the reason I  love to blog. thank you thank you thank you. Times are tough, but i know the best is still to come :)

love,
