How we told my parents....Christmas Eve 2014

We decided to tell my parents immediately...as in just over 4 weeks pregnant. We decided to tell them on Christmas Eve and looking back I am so glad we did. It was so so special and a Christmas we will never forget. What an amazing gift for us all to celebrate.

After our candlelight Christmas Eve service at church, we headed back the house with deep dish pizza to open presents. We had my brother and my parents open a "small" gift to start our Christmas Eve gift exchange. I had let my brother's girlfriend, Brittany, in on the secret earlier that day so she could capture the moment on video. The video is priceless and I will keep it always. I think my favorite part is my dad's reaction. It is the best!!

My parents were so so excited and had a difficult time keeping their lips sealed for nearly 8 more weeks. They are gonna make the best grandparents ever! I can't wait for Baby W to be in their lives.

A Double Date

Hey Y'all!
I am still reliving this summer over here on thee bloggy and trying to still play catch up. As many of you know, I blog to capture mine and Kev's lives first and foremost. It's such an added bonus that I have met so many amazing gals through this avenue. Amazing, I tell ya!

Let's rewind to July when Kev and I doubled dated with Britty and Baby Brother.
We went to one of our favorite local spots just outside of Cincy. Let's be honest, the Kentucky girl in me loves staying this side of the river (aka the promise land). We headed to Covington to a local area called Mainstrasse. It has some really great local restaurants, cute shops and some fun places to grab drinks. It's become one of our go-to's when we don't feel like crossing the river.

Britty, Charlie, Kev and I tried out Main Bite for the first time. It was delicious. It's known for its's small plates and most of the menu items are grown in the backyard of the restaurant or locally. An added bonus too is that the majority of the entire menu is organic. It was perfect sized portions if you plan on having a few drinks. I left not feeling stuffed as we headed to the Old Kentucky Bourbon bar for some cocktails.

We just love the Bourbon Bar. The cocktails are out of this world. It was the first time we had taken Charlie and Britty to experience all of it's magic.

We also had a little rendezvous with my pals from work. Soooo great to see them outside of the four walls of the hospital.

I can't even begin to explain how fun this summer has been having these two in NKY/Cincywith us. We have enjoyed every second of it. Looking forward to creating so many more memories with them in our new city as Brittany and Charlie have both officially started their new careers in Cincinnati. A very exciting time for both of them!

Summer Outtakes

A few pieces of Summer that have yet to make it on the blog

A trip to Lexington on July 4th for a college friend's wedding.

We took my family to the Hofbrauhaus House in Newport for the first time.

A lot of our weekends were spent with out families visiting in our home. We wouldn't have it any other way

Baby Brother moved in with us for two months. We enjoyed seeing him and Britty regularly so much. We also said farewell to Brittany for two long months as she traveled her way through Europe on the trip of a lifetime.

Hubs and I enjoyed date nights, double dates with our family and getting healthy again. We enjoyed working out together in the back yard this summer.

I attended the Trace Adkins concert with my friend Jeni in Cincy.
Momma and I did a lot of antique shopping- this photo was taken the day we ran out of gas on a back country road. Whoops!
Traveled home to Eastern Kentucky to spend time with my fragile Mammy and Granny
We celebrated Uggie's 7th birthday with cake

Summer 2014 was a great one indeed!

my 30th birthday part 2

My actual 30th birthday fell on Father's Day weekend, so of course Kev and I had my parents up for the weekend to do some more celebrating. Just riding the birthday train out as long as I possibly can....please don't judge me ;-)

Britty, my momma and I started off the day with some shopping and hit up our local faves.
Car selfie anyone?

We hit up Dewey's for some pizza and beer in Newport. Dewey's has quickly became one of my parents' favorite local restaurants. They crave it and Kev and I are not complaining. We love us some pizza!
We then took my parents to their first 3D-IMAX experience at Newport on the Levee.

Saturday morning we sipped coffee on the back porch and took it easy most of the afternoon.
That evening we headed up to my dad's version of Disneyland....the Casino. I swear the man barely spends any money and just plays the slot machines and ALWAYS wins. It's ridiculous! No wonder he enjoys it so much.

Us gals posted up at Margaritaville, while the boys enjoyed the slots, black jack and roulette.

Sunday morning was Father's day and my actual birthday. We headed to church followed by delicious barbecue for lunch.

Happy Father's Day Daddo!!
My family and Kev clearly spoiled me rotten this year for my birthday. You will hear no complaints from me. Love my new Tory, Michael, Lulu, Frye and monogrammed goodies. Should I just turn 30 every year, haha!

The next morning we headed to Florida with Dana and Chris.............and the birthday train continues :-)

Baby Brother Graduation Weekend

My baby brother graduated college a few weekends ago and my family was in full force celebration mood. Kev and I traveled to Lexington early that friday to meet up with baby brother and some friends at Country Boy Brewery. We started the weekend celebration off right with some of our favorite beverages at what used to be one of our favorite local spots (when we lived in Lex).

My parents met up with us at our hotel in Hamburg and headed to celebratory graduation dinner at Nick Ryan's downtown Lexington. We were so excited to finally take my parents there.

We attended Eastern Kentucky University's graduation ceremony on Saturday. We were so so excited for baby brother and to share the weekend with his girlfriend, Brittany, and her family who had made the trip in from California.

Kev looked so handsome in his bow tie and I was so excited to finally wear my lace skirt that had been collecting dust in my closet.

Saturday was so special. My parents were just beaming with joy the entire day...so proud of their baby boy.

Charlie and one of his best friends from home were in the same ceremony and were actually seated next to each other. It was very special as we are are very close to him and his family.

Charlie's gorgeous girlfriend, Brittany.

The graduate! So so proud of hm.

Brittany and her family. We adore every.single.one.of them. It was so much fun having them all in Kentucky together.

After graduation, we headed back to baby brother's apartment to freshen up. Momma and Daddy surprised Charlie with a brand new Martin guitar for his graduation present. He was over the moon.

Brittany's mom had lead the charge on planning the post graduation celebration. We celebrated the special occasion with  Brittany's family and 2 other families of graduates that Charlie and Britty are very close to. We had BBQ catered in, drinks flowing, a candy bar and an amazing cake all along with good company to share the evening with. Brittany's mom had went above and beyond. It was perfect!

We loved that our family was able to spend time with Brittany's family. We had each met them several times prior, but this was the first time we had all been together at the same time. We sure do enjoy them and think Charlie has definitely found a keeper!

Graduation weekend was so much fun for my family and I. Y'all know we love every opportunity we all get to be together. I even insisted my parents stay with Kevin and I in a two bedroom suite at our hotel because we just can't get enough of them. There is no greater gift than family, and this weekend was such a strong testament to that.

Charlie - I am so so proud of you and that man you are becoming, I know you don't have every single detail figured out, but you are destined for great things and I can't wait to watch your path unfold. I am blessed to be your sister and share so much of my life with you. I love you so much!
