Wedding Dress Runner Ups

I confirmed my first wedding dress fitting for a Saturday in September yesterday and I got to thinking about all those dresses I tried on. It is killing me that I won’t see the thing for another month or two. However, my dress is in Cincinnati, Ohio and I don’t plan on driving up there before then… unless my bridesmaid dresses come in sooner than expected. Girlfran is super busy these days with wedding planning, a career, trying to run a house, make time for friends, and be a good wifey to be.

While I won't share my actual wedding dress, I did want to share the dresses that were a close 2nd.

After being very open to trying on any style and material, I immediately knew I wanted a lace dress and in ivory. The ivory looks so much better with my olive skin tones. I think the lace look is so romantic and is perfect for our country/rustic barn wedding.

These next two dresses are the two I immediately feel in love with and actually went back several times to try them on. I thought it would be one of them.

And then there was the trip to Cincinnati with my mom that sealed the deal. I found three dresses there that blew the other two away.

In third place we have the gorgeous gown.
The neckline looked amazing on me since i have such a long torso. I am almost 5'10"...ain't nothing about me short.
However, I wasn't crazy about the beading under the bust; it almost looked cheap on me.

In 2nd place...this beauty. This pic does not do it justice. It was soooo pretty on me. However, ultimately I decided it looked a lil more formal with the satin detail around the waist. It was gorgeous though.

And then there was the moment where the bridal associate asked me if i brought my wedding shoes. I of course wore my cowboy boots that day and when i put them on under my actual dress....LOVE at first sight.
It's perfect

But y'all will have to wait till after the wedding to see the real thing.
EEEK 114 days to go.
Holy Crap!

Wedding Wednesday: Invitation Preview

Our wedding invitations came in the mail yesterday and I was ECSTATIC!
This was round 2 of ordering my invitations. The first round resulted in me needing 3 d glasses to read the invites. Not really, but they were so blurry that it is how is appeared.
To say I had a bridezilla moment would be an understatement. I let the customer service lady have it. Not that it was her fault, but all they wanted to give me was store credit and I demanded a refund. And that is just what this gal got. They asked me to mail the effed up invites backt o them to "help them correct future issues." I told them they could walk their hineeeys to 1234 Sunshine Ave in Lexington, KY and the darn things would be on my doorstep.
Crickets
True Story.
And no that is not my real address.

I got my refund and re-ordered my invites and they were so worth the wait.

The Fed Ex man made me so happy this afternoon.

I feel like they match our lil barn/country wedding to a tee.
In person they look just like they are on burlap.
Me loves.

Less than 4 months.
Who's excited? This gal is.
Can't wait to marry this man

Pause for the old school photo circa summer 2009.

Yep, KR rocked a mowhawk when i first met him.
I always thought it was so sexy.
Mowhawk, tattoos and harley....with a heart the size of the moon.
What wasn't to love about him?

Happy hump day friends

Better Late the Never

I have been so crazy busy this summer with weddings, my own wedding planning and work that my lil bloggy has took a back seat. I have so many fun things to share from mine and kev's summer, but they haven't made it on the world wide web yet.

One of my favorite memories of the summer was our trip to Lake Cumberland for Memorial Weekend. It was the perfect 4 day weekend/getaway.
Kevin Rex's buddies Gene and Cliff do an annual trip to the lake ever memorial weekend and we were so tickeled to be invited to tag along.

We set sail on our vessel out of Conely Bottom dock.

KR and our close friend Ron. Ron is always guaranteed entertainment and fun.

Half of the group ready to set sail waiting on our safety lesson.

Our Captain Geno

I seriously LOVE the lake more than I probably love the ocean. I grew up on a lake and always vacationed there with friends during high school and college summers.
There is just something about floating on the water, laying out on a boat, a cool drink, sunglasses and country music that makes my heart smile.

Me, Tara and LJ. I had never met lil LJ till this trip and she was such a doll! I am so upset she is moving out of KY to the big apple (NYC) with her beau.

Love my Ronnie

Geno in his place of peace...away from all us yappie girls.

We drove to our lil cove and tied up (quite the fiasco)  for the weekend.
Geno gave us orders

While Ronnie decided to play bartender

and i broke out the skinnygirl

and immediately got those bikinis on and jumped into the water with beverages and floats.

Later that night miss Brooke and Monica finally made it to the boat.
Not all of us had friday off :-)
I so enjoyed getting to know both of them better. They are absolute sweethearts!

The gals.
I had only met 3 of the gals once or twice before the trip. Sometimes it is intimidating to go on a weekend trip with a bunch of gals who have a long history together. These gals have been bffs since college and some even before that. I must say they were all the sweetest, nicest and most welcoming group of gals I have ever met. I had such a good time with them and felt like I made real friendships that trip and now see them out in Lexington on occasion. They were so much fun! The lake crew has rendezvoused a time or two in lex since the lake trip. Makes me happy.

Dwayne and Kaitlyn were our official boat drives most of the weekend.
We cruised, tubed and maybe even had a lil dance party to Call Me Maybe

ahh....perfect type of summer weekend

And sometimes we needed naps...right ronnie?

Group Shot of the entire gang after a rousing game of cranium where we learned that some people are really competitive or sore losers....haha. some of us laughed so hard we almost peed our pants ...others just wanted to strangle each other. we also witnessed some mad humming skills by ron, crazy break dancing and puppet moves by LJ and Cliff.... It was priceless

Things we discovered on our trip:

We ate like pigs the entire weekend.
Learned Kaitlyn had impeccable whistling skills
Realized Geno still asks permission from his mother and is a nut about his vitamins
Watched Ron demonstrate has amazing yoga skills on the tube
Got a lesson in jean/gene jamming
chess pie, taco dip, vanilla oreos, and my mom's pickle relish were the bomb dot com
sang some Randy Travis
may or may not have to take out toilet paper out in plastic bags to a dumpster on the back of the boat after every bathroom trip (yeah we got up close and persona)
and the list could go on and on.

Outside of all the hilarious inside jokes we now have from the trip, we also had such a fun time with new and old friends.
I think I could live on a houseboat...well maybe just in the summer months.
Can't wait for next year!!!

Wedding Wednesday: my etsy obsession

Seriously...how did anyone plan a wedding before etsy?
Etsy has been my one stop shopping for so many of the little details.
Lately the mail man has brought me a lil package almost every day and it makes me smile ear to ear.
Here are some of my favorite things I have ordered to add to our special day this fall.
There are sooo many other things I want to share, but they are surprises so you all will just have to wait and see :-)

My dress hanger

These lil chalkboard that the doggies wore for our engagement photos.
I plan to use them for the guest book and have "please" and "sign" written on them.
They are too stinkin cute not to use.

Straws for the mason jars...in neutral colors of course.
There are flags to go with them that have yet to be assembled.

A lil burlap action that will hang in the entry way of the barn

Signs for the back of mine and Kev's chairs at the reception

Signs on sticks for wedding props.

4 more months...i may or may not have had a lil anxiety/excitement attack today...woopsie. It's all cause I am so dang excited!!!

Engagement Session (extended version) part III

Here is the last round of photos from our engagement session by the fabulous Amy of Angela Anderson Photography.
This post has most of the 3rd and final look that was more formal and shot downtown on the streets of Lexington
I LOVE these.
Some of them are so classic.

They were quite funny to shoot.
We would literally time the stoplights and walk out in the middle of the street during a red light.
Please keep in mind that these were taken on a Friday night people.
There were folks everywhere.
We got horns honked at us, cat calls, and whistles all while our photographer was screaming
"be sexy"
"Kiss her"
"look at him...look away...hug each other"
Hahaha....it was comical and such a fun memory for us to make.
KR was a trooper and played along so well. Love his heart.

I am beyond thrilled with out photographer and the outcome of all the pics.
I seriously die.
I can not imagine how gorgeous the wedding day pics will be.
Enjoy!

Hope you all  have a great week!!!
