Stuck

Today, we went on a long drive. Then we went for a walk with a little red dog, Willow and Coach.

The little red dog was not very good at having her photo taken.

Then we went back to Willow's house and I watched guinea pigs for half an hour.

The humans were busy talking and they thought I was in the shade.

Really, I had managed to get behind the shed but then I had managed to not be able to get back out again. No one noticed and I started to panic and that wobbled the shed.

Coach saw the windows of the shed rattling and wondered if a cat had got locked in. Then Coach looked closer and saw me. I was so freaked out I gave a little whine. I couldn't get my dodgy hip past the fence post. I sat down and gave up.

Coach was about to call the fire brigade. It was a boiling hot day and I was getting panicky. So was TJam. She suggested putting Willow's son, the Katate Kid, down the side of the summer house to help me out, but he couldn't fit.

The humans managed to lift the summer house up a bit at one end to slide it over and create a gap just big enough for TJam to squeeze into so she could guide my back end out.

This is the scene of the crime and I had got right down to that bottom fence panel.

Willow couldn't believe her luck that she had actually seen one of my adventures in the flesh.
TJam was mortified. As usual.

Then we came home. I had actual ice blocks on me in the car. TJam really needs to get air con.
We also had the little red dog with us.

Kindle Orphans

Us animals are becoming Kindle orphans: Bready, Bamgee and Unliz are all hooked!
(note to Brazil - a Kindle is like a computer that holds all your books, just in case you were wondering)

but it's ok because I chewed up Bready's adapter plug.
Dogs 1 : Humans 1
That'll teach TJam not to ponder the fact that I haven't chewed anything for a while.

Welcome home from wherever you went.
I will only half hide my handy work with this enormous squeaky toy.
And do not leave us alone again...

Beach Trip

We have had to battle TJam to get access to the computer so we are going to try and catch up slowly with all our thrilling adventures. (I can get away with saying that because of poetic license).

Our first adventure was going to the beach. Beanz got the feel of sand under her toes and thought she had turned into a greyhound or something. She ran rings round Bamgee. She was like the wind!

Next, the humans tried to get all artistic and represent themselves in sand art.
I enhanced TJam's picture by scratching her eye out.
Nice touch.

Bet you couldn't even tell which was the sand art and which was the real picture.

At the end of the day, I posed for the camera and TJam went on that big roller coaster in the background. She loved it although she might have a mild case of whiplash. She says it was worth it.

Finally, we had a bag of chips (with a small c, we did not eat me) and drove through the illuminations. TJam and Bamgee did not take photos- they were too busy listening to their Christmas CD and going "ooooooooooooo" at the lights. Beanz and I snored our way through it. It was very boring for dogs.

September in a Nutshell

Somehow, September has sped by and we have hardly blogged. Blame the humans. So, my take on September is this:

1. Bamgee has swung by for a while and while she has been here, she created a rainbow:
2. I snapped my dew claw and the vet clipped it off. Now it is bothering me and I am not supposed to lick it.

3. TJam made a blackberry and apple crumble with blackberries from the fields and apple from her nan's garden. Yum. None for dogs I'm afraid though.

We have generally been hanging around and walking and stuff like that that. The humans have partied, and we have guarded the house.

My Weekend

I have mostly been laying around on this lovely weekend. Although I did spend Friday night in the porch. Curiosity got the better of me as the dogs came in from their last walk of the evening, I popped into the porch but TJam didn't see me. She thought it was quiet during the night but only came looking for me on Saturday morning. I made her feel suitably guilty and she still owes me one.

I made up for it by sunning myself all weekend.

The humans deserted me on Saturday night to go out for dinner with Unliz, Bready and Coach. They had a lovely curry.

TJam is buzzing now because out on her walk today, she saw none other than David Bellamy. He was doing a tour and talk about local woodland. The dogs went and only slightly disgraced her by eating something unmentionable and then half a cheesecake that someone had dropped. A minor blip really. Look, here is DAVID BELLAMY talking to the people.

Beach

This weekend, we went to the beach. I took advantage of the litter situation to bag myself a nice little plastic bottle to play with and chase and chew up...

TJam tried to get Beanz to pose for the camera, but Beanz was in snogging mood. Look at that tongue (and try not to imagine where it has been...)

We found a cool park to go in to have our lunch.

Then we walked back along the beach, where Bamgee admired this kind of kite surfing craze thing that my humans are too old and uncool to know anything about...

here is a close up in case you can help us out on the name...

and here are some British donkeys for our American and overseas friends who may not have seen such a thing:

We didn't chase the donkeys. They have enough stress with carrying children up and down the beach all day, without me and Beanz making things worse for them.

Skype

This evening I have mostly been talking to Bamgee on Skype.

Beach Babes

Last week we all went for a little trip to the beach. It didn't start all that well for TJam as she is captured here tripping down a little hole. Great timing with the camera Bamgee!

When we got onto the beach, TJam tried to engage me in sand digging games...

... but I had a hankering for a little more canine activity...

I begged and goaded Chips to play with me, but she was only interested in that old toy...

... so in the end I had to charge up and down the beach like a nutter on my own. It was glorious and their loss that they didn't share in the joy.

When we got back onto real land, Chips and TJam sat on a bridge and had a little heart to heart.

Then there was just time for us dogs to pose with Bamgee on a log that was artistically languishing on the sand...

By the time she reads this, Bamgee will be somewhere very hot and maybe sandy. We hope it is fabulous Bamgee! We will keep raiding bins for your delight and amusement!!

Quiet weekend

- by Beanz

This weekend we went to the park with Bamgee. I found a lovely blue plastic bottle for a game.
We ignored the extreme frisbee players in the background and I managed to stay away from the picnickers. Bamgee plays a mean game of blue plastic bottle tug.

Bank Holiday Gales

Well, we went camping this Bank Holiday.
It didn't start off that well, if I'm honest. TJam overslept and then when she was doing a final clean of cat litter tray, the bag burst on the only square metre of carpet in the house. We got caught in a diversion and Beanz was sick in the van.
By the time we arrived though, we were feeling fine and ready to go.
Beanz and I are getting much better at camping and by the first evening, I was so settled I was falling asleep while on guard. I decided to let a few people (and dogs) walk past without barking. They're just not worth it.
On Sunday, we went for a treck. We came around this bit of mountain (with a lot of rock clambering and neck-risking) and had a quick photoshoot on the Billy Goats Gruff bridge (the trolls were on holiday, thank goodness).

Then, as the heavens opened, we found a cafe and decided to spend the afternoon there!

As you may or may not know, I have the fastest tongue in the Northern Hemisphere. I have to practise on a regular basis to maintain my world class prowess. A wet afternoon seemed the perfect opportunity to get in a couple of rounds. First I enlisted the help of my able assistant Bamgee (she got away just in time!)

And then, able assistant number 2, TJam. I had got into my stride by that time, and was quite the speedy one.

I was under strict instruction to keep my tongue firmly in my mouth while the humans ate...
It's cruelty I tells ya. Cruelty! I decided to develop my powers of telekinesis but I just wasn't strong enough.

The Gales and rain really came into force by the time we walked back to the campsite. Over half the campers upped and left. The ones who were out for a long day's treck, only to crawl home looking forward to hopping into their dry sleeping bag in their lovely warm tent were going to be in for a bit of a shock.

The campsite had to erect a tent graveyard (/recycling area).

We tucked ourselves up in our (still standing) tent and the humans cheered themselves by creating a dining room in the porch with red wine and chocolate. The plastic tea set only added to the atmosphere.

Our own tent survived the night with only a split pole.

By the next day, the sun had come out again, although the winds were still... well.... "severe" probably covers it. 3 humans managed to pack the tent away and we went for a lovely walk.

Bready had a sit by the stream...

... and we had a little paddle...

...before we braved the Bank Holiday traffic to come home.

Carlsberg has forgiven TJam for forgetting to press "start" on her 2nd feeder so she only had dried food for a whole day. Diddums. She should try being a dog.

Thinking....

- by Beanz

I am going to accept this award on behalf of Chips and Carlsberg because I am the one who likes to think. It is a great honour to be given this award by Graham, Prince and Tilly Too especially because I have only just met them (virtually of course. You should never meet internet people in real life if you haven't even met them on the internet yet).

It is the thinking blogger award.

Here is some evidence, should you need it, that we are very thoughtful. Here I am, doing my most thinking face, pondering by the light of a pumpkin's grin...

Here are the rules attached to the Thinking Blogger Award:

1. You must write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think. (No squirrel or cat blogs, they'll just make you hungry.)

2. Acknowledge and link to this post.

3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.

4. Tell your humans to fork over the treats!

Now, passing it on is a hard one because I know that Marvin has already had a thinking award, and I just gave a best friend one to Mack and the SUMDs, so I will choose the following:

Randi: because I like his blog and I think about him and his brother.

Finding Beau: we have discussed this a lot in our house. It is such a long time ago and yet we still want Beau to come home... we think a lot about this and lost dogs in general.

Alan Martin: This is his personal blog, and I hope the link to his video (below) works. Not only does he challenge TJam to think about her attitude to so many things, situations and people, but he is also has an amazing talent of putting everybody (and we mean EVERYBODY, even TEENAGERS) at their ease nd joining in in no time at all. Not bad for anyone, before mentioning that Alan couldn't say a word until he was 31 and his friends clubbed together to get him his first communication aid. Now he is a self employed dancer, actor and activist, volunteer, role model and working full out to help others fulfil their potential. He makes us think what communication is about in its fullest form. Respect.

Steve Don't Eat It! This page pleases the dogs and humans in this household. Chips and I are in awe. TJam laughs a lot and gags a lot. Wholesome fun for the whole family. Well, for those who enjoy the odd swear word anyway.

Badger That! We liked this blog because everyone had spy names (although they weren't called spy names, just not real names) and because it was the blog that inspired us to put more photos on our own pages. Read Badgers award winning post of the week.

Ok, so that is 5 links and now for a photo that should make YOU think. How comes I am so much bigger that Bamgee? I could EAT her! hahahaha.

TJam - hand over the treats. We're award winners now you know. I'll have a tripe stick to start, and Chips will take a Kong stuffed with cat food. In fact, make that two....

Dreaming...

- by Chips
It has been so rainy and horrible that I am cheering myself up with a little remembering of last year's camping trip, when I got time to read my magazine with Bamgee (that's her spy name) out in the sun. Sun. If I think really hard about it I can just about remember what it is like. In this picture, Bamgee is helping me with some of the longer words.
