ODBD 2nd Anniversary Hop!

Today, Kelley is releasing four new and truly wonderful Special Edition sets! Each of us on the Design Team submitted a favourite verse, and those Scripture Verses are two of the sets being released today. If that wasn't exciting enough... she also created two sets of gorgeous borders that fit the Scriptures!  The verse I chose for this set is Psalms 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God."  How often do we find ourselves caught up in this busy world and sometimes we just need to stop and listen to God.  I have this verse stitched on the cover of my bible and I remember singing this as a song with my mother when I was young - so it was the first verse I thought of when we were asked.  I hope it's one of your favourites too!  :)

If you've come from Connie's Blog you are in the right place, if not, start back at the ODBD Blog for all the details!!  :)

Kelley is going to give 3 Prizes of your choice of one of these new Anniversary sets!  Here is what you have to do to qualify for the prizes:
  • Hop from first to last, and collect the secret LETTER each designer will have.
  • Leave a comment for the designer on their blog.
  • Return here to the ODBD blog, leaving a comment to tell us that you visited all the blogs.
  • Email Grace at: gnywening@yahoo.com, giving me the secret message the letters spell.

You have until 8:00 PM EST on Mar 18th (USA time - 10AM Mar 19th Australia EST) to complete the hop and email Grace the message. (Please Note that my blog is set to Australian EST and this will in no way affect when you posted your comment.)

SFYTT For Gerry

Well I survived the end of Kindy yesterday, tomorrow I face my son finishing Grade 2!  I can't believe he's finished Grade 2!!!  Today also marked the day that he had to start wearing glasses.  So much has happened this week that my mojo is suffering and yet I still have had to make oodles of altered notebooks and thank you cards!

I was inspired by this week's SFYTT for the layout and I had to make this one pink since the recipient loves pink.  I started with a base of Pink Pirouette and layered with white and some Kaisercraft Blushed DSP and then tied some white grosgrain ribbon around it.  The main panel is more Pirouette and Blushed cut with the Label 4 Nestabilities.  The Monogram is made using the Special Occasions Font and the 2" Decorative Round Wide Borders stamped in River Rock and Regal Rose and cut with the Large Circle Nestabilities and mounted on Large Scallop Circle Nestabilities.  To finish I added several Kaisercraft Snow Pearls!!  :)

Stamps - Special Occasions Font, 2" Decorative Round Wide Borders (JustRite)
Paper - Pink Pirouette, White, Kaisercraft Blushed DSP
Ink - River Rock, Regal Rose
Accessories - Label 4 Nestabilities, Large Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, Foam Tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!  :)

SFYTT Haiku Birthday

Hi everyone! I'm sorry this week has been so hit and miss everything went a bit crazy on Wednesday. As the Aussies would know, a massive rain storm hit our city on Wednesday (my son's birthday no less), parts of the city have been declared natural disasters!! We got an incredible amount of rain --- a whole year's worth ended up in the dam in 24hrs!!! Some parts received 500mm in 3 days! Our dramas surrounded our roof --- smack in the middle of our lounge room and over our deck. I've spent so much time emptying buckets and drying towels and then drying carpet it's not funny (especially when you are still suffering from a sprained finger!) We've had a roof person out and thankfully it shouldn't take much to fix!!! To top that off my hubby had corrective eye surgery yesterday - both eyes. They are still a bit tender but his eyesight is now better than 20-20 and he's like a kid a Christmas being able to see so clearly!!!

Enough about all the chaos at my house.....on with the card! This card is inspired by this week's SFYTT Challenge . It was such a fun looking sketch that I decided to get out my brand new Haiku DSP and since I went that far - why not make it Tangerine Tango based??!! Orange is NOT my normal colour, but it seems to work!! :) I used a Tangerine base, layered with So Saffron and the Haiku paper. The main panel is more Tangerine, Saffron and the flip side of the Haiku paper. I punched the bottom of the Tangerine with the SU Scallop Edge Punch and then tied some white grosgrain ribbon around it all. Then I grabbed some orange and yellow flowers and in the centre I've used my 1 5/8th circle Just Rite Stamper and the 10 Designer Centers and Borders to stamp the sentiment. The sentiment has been cut out using circle nestabilities. Then I finished off with some gold swirl clips and gold brads for the the other flower centres. I think it looks like a pretty cheerful birthday card - what do you think?

Stamps - Just Rite (10 Designer Centers and Borders)

Paper - Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Old Olive, Haiku DSP

Ink - Orange versacolor

Accessories - Flowers (Bag of Blooms - Papercraft), circle nestabilities, gold swirl clips, gold brads, white grosgrain ribbon.

That's all for today, here's hoping the drama settles down and I get the chance to play more often!! Thanks for visiting!! :)

SFYTT Butterfly 40th

I am so, so late doing this week's SFYTT challenge - so late the next one is almost due to be posted. I really wanted to do this a bit earlier but with school holidays and Easter, time really got away from me this week. This one is for a good friend of mine having her 40th Birthday this week! :)
I started this card with a Very Vanilla base, layered with some teal cardstock I found somewhere (world win papers) that was pierced and layered again with this pretty paper by DCWV (Nana's Nursery - Boy). The rectangle layer is from the same paper pack, matted with more teal and punched the edge using the Fiskars 'Lace' Border Punch and tied with some ivory satin ribbon around it. The small squares are VV, matted with more teal and stamped using SU's 'Pocket Silhouettes' in Versacolor - Celadon. The butterflies have been punched using Martha Stewart's Royal Butterfly punch (you still can't buy MS anywhere in Australia :( ) and embellished with some Kaisercraft 'Blush' pearls. Finally the main panel has been cut using the new Label 3 dies by Spellbinders - I pierced the curves and put some pearls in the corners and popped it up. Then I used the Circle Nestabilities to cut the floral circle. The sentiment has been made using the Just Rite Stampers - Small Letter Set and Special Occasions Font. I love that the Just Rite Stampers co-ordinate perfectly with the circle Nestabilities!!! I did punch out the '40' using a 1 1/4in punch so that it didn't obscure part of the sentiment and popped it up.
For the Aussies - the Spellbinders, Just Rite and Fiskars products are all available through my friends at ABSA , if you can't see what you are looking for contact them and they'll be more than willing to help!!
I guess that's all for me today. I wish you all a very blessed and happy Easter!!! Thanks for stopping by!! :)

SFYTT Happiness

I finally got around to making a card for this week's Sketch For You To Try . I went with a very neutral colour palette for a soft, elegant look, so I hope you can see it OK from the picture!
I started with a base of Very Vanilla, layered with White (edge pierced) and topped with some new Kimberly Polson Paper (Fiskars). The long rectangle at the top is the flipside of the same paper, matted in white and then again on Very Vanilla and scalloped the bottom edge (SU punch) and added some white Kaiser pearls to the corner. The main image is from SU's 'Always' set, stamped in Versamark and embossed in white EP on VV card, matted on white and pierced the edges. The flower is made up of three white Kaiser flowers, layered and a pearl brad from Little Yellow Bicycle was added to the centre. Finally I added the sentiment, which is actually a sticker from the co-ordinating Kimberly Polson range. I don't normally 'do' stickers, but I liked these. :)
That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

SFYTT Butterfly For You

Today's card is for this week's Sketch For You To Try on Jen's blog!
I started with a white card base, layered with Purely Pomegranate and Pretty in Pink. The larger panel is a piece of white, punched down the sides with the Lacy Days of Summer punch by Fiskars (I just LOVE this punch!!), and topped with some butterfly paper (Patchwork Quilt) from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie range. The horizontal panel uses some 'Petticoat' paper from the same range and has been matted with some light teal card. The next panel is made of some white that has been embossed with 'Stylized Flower' EF and matted on some Pretty in Pink. I've stamped the butterfly from SU's 'Touch of Nature' set in Rose Red (because I don't have Pomegranate), cut it out and popped it on some foam tape. The sentiment panel has been cut using the Ribbon Tag Trio die set, sponging the centre, adding ribbons on the sides and stamped the sentiment in black from SU's 'Occasional Greetings' (or All Holidays if you are in the US) and finished off by adding some silver brads to the corners.
That's all for now, thanks for visiting!!! :)

SFYTT Happy Mail

This is for Jen's Sketch For You To Try challenge which is offering Blog Candy for participating this week!! Now I have to say my mojo went on strike this week and it was probably not the best idea to try something fairly new. I scored this super cute stamp from my BFF Edna for my birthday but haven't inked it up until today. I haven't done a lot of watercolouring before, so don't look too close!!!
I started with a base of white card, layered with some unknown teal card and layered again with some yellow check paper from DCWV. I added a strip of white card punched with the Lazy Days of Summer punch by Fiskars and tied some white grosgrain around it to cover the join. Then I attached the watercoloured "Post Box" image by Sugar Nellie Stamps and sentiment from Artful Elegance by Verve .
I think I'm going to have to practice my colouring and have another try with this stamp because it's just so cute!! That's all for today, thanks for visiting!! :)

Daisy Wishes

This card is for this week's SFYTT (Sketch For You To Try) from Jen's Blog .
I started with some dark blue bazzill and then layered with some green and then some lighter blue and topped with some pretty Basic Grey paper from the Lily Kate range. The middle panel I've cut into a ribbon shape (which wasn't real smart because I covered most of it) and then embossed with the Floral Screen embossing folder. The main image is from SU's Upsy Daisy set (N/A in Aust yet) and stamped in Versacolor (sky blue) and cut out with oval nestabilities and added a dark blue butterfly punch (Martha Stewart) and added some pearls to the body.
The tag has been die cut with Spellbinders 'Ribbon Tag Trio', stamped with SU's 'Warmest Regards' (retired) in Versacolor (atlantic) and added some American Crafts ribbon to each side and popped it up on foam tape. I finished off with some pearls in the bottom corners.
The great thing about this, is that I can also use it for this week's Our Creative Corner Tag Challenge !! :)
Well, that's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)
