A few days ago I posted that February is very busy for our family with birthdays and an anniversary - well today is my birthday, so I get to share some of the beautiful RAKS that have made their way to my home!! :) The one above is from my wonderful and very talented mother!!!! Didn't she do an amazing job with this card!!!! LOVE YOU MUM!!!!! :)
Next came this gorgeous card from my dear, sweet friend Pam!! I just love the beautiful blues along withe the neutral tones and the over stamped image!! Thank you so much Pam - I love it!!!! :)
And this one comes from my friend and fellow Brisbaneite, Liz Webber! Just look at this beautiful, rich and elegant card (love the pearl flowers!!!). Thank you so much Liz, it's absolutely gorgeous!!!
I've had a fairly relaxed kind of day with a little shopping thrown in! :) The big excitement was finding out that I'm going to see WICKED in a couple of weeks!!! ***SQUEAL*** Even better, we are going the night of our wedding anniversary!! I hear the play is AWESOME!!!!!
Here's a funny story for you - my hubby says to me a few days ago "can you leave some craft stuff out on Wednesday?"........me - "Um, why??"........"the kids and I want to make you a card, so if you can leave some pre-cut bits out that would help". OoooooK. So I basically cut everything out, sentiment panel, spellbinders, punched border, lay out ribbon. Too late Wednesday night he remembers..... "Ooops - forgot to make your card!" GROAN!!!! Needless to say, look out for a birthday card being posted here in the near future!!!!
Well that's all I have for you today, thanks for visiting!! :)

RAKS and News....
I don't have any cards today (although I am working on a lot of stuff that you will see next week!!! ;) ). I do have a few RAK cards that I have been thrilled to receive and I do want to talk about something non-craft related which is exciting for me!!!
Let me start by saying I love to read, and my all time favourite series is The Wilderness Series by Sara Donati. Many years ago I became part of the Wilderness Forum and met many fabulous girls and as part of this group and had the privilege of meeting and chatting to Rosina (aka Sara Donati). One of my other passions is genealogy and since this series has a very detailed genealogy I set to working it all out, mostly for myself and then I shared it with Rosina and anyone else who was interested.
Today I was able to purchase the sixth (and final --- *sob*) book in the series and there in the back under the Author's Note was my name!!!! I am truly humbled by this honour!!!! Many, many thanks to Rosina, not just for the acknowledgment, but also for the wonderful journey this story has taken me on!!! Big hugs to my other friends also credited on the page as well, Judy, Robyn, Pam and Kenzie!!! :)

If you haven't read the series, start with Into The Wilderness and read them in order with Dawn on a Distant Shore, Lake in the Clouds, Fire Along the Sky and Queen of Swords.
Next I have these wonderful cards that have been sent to me!!!! I am so bad, I received this from my wonderful, dear friend Chris (Glowbug) and although I phoned her to say thank-you, I didn't get it up on my blog to show it off sooner!!! Blogger won't allow me to upload any more photos, but I'll be posting the inside at SCS so you can see the awesome detail inside!! This beauty is from the divine Anne Ryan who sent this for my birthday but didn't expect the postal system to be so fast!!! ;) Isn't it just amazing with all that black embossing and white snow - not to mention the black pearls :) !!!!
And last, but definitely not least, this beauty arrived from Vera at SCS who sent me this gorgeous card (and also didn't expect it to get here so quick!!!). Such beautiful colours and I just love those Verve stamps she's used and all those yummy pearls - a girl after my own heart!!! :)I also just want to mention all my fabulous followers and subscribers, you make my day when leaving comments, subscribing or just stopping by, I am humbled by your support of my blog!!! If you've manage to sit through all this to now, thanks so much and hope you've been inspired by the talented ladies who've sent these cards and if you love a good read - go get The Wilderness Series!!!
Hugs
Kathy :)

FS134 - Father's Day and RAKS!!
Well it's that time of year again.......Father's Day is this Sunday and I have to try to think up THREE Man Cards! Bleh!! No pretty pearls or punches to play with and definitely no flowers - how dreary!!! :(
Today's card is inspired by this week's Featured Stamper - akronstamperdpk! I chose her Summer Recipe card - I really liked the layout and thought I could make it work for a FD card.
I started with a white base and layered with some Chocolate Chip and then some Kaisercraft Cafe Culture DSP (LOVE this paper range!) - two pieces that I then sliced on the angle. Of course I don't seem to have a simple Father's Day sentiment - so I created my own using JustRite's Times New Roman Font and Times New Roman Lowercase Font and the Rectangular Stamper. The beauty of the JustRite Font is you can create ANY kind of sentiment you want (with the spelling you want - which is very handy when you're an Aussie and things are spelt differently here!).
The image is from SU's retired For Father set that was stamped in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with markers and a blender pen and then cut using the Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities. While still in the die, I sponged around the image with some Close to Cocoa ink. I then layered it on a piece of Close to Cocoa cut with the same die set and popped it all up on foam tape. I finished off by adding some knotted twine and some Topaz Oregon Raindrops that my wonderful friend Michelle (aka sf9erfan) sent me today!!!! Thanks girlie!!!! :)
The other two pictures are two wonderful RAKS that arrived in my mailbox today!!!! The first is from Michelle - check out all that stuff!!!! K&Co paper, Basic Grey paper, Oregon Raindrops and some Angel Wings Shimmerz!!!!! I was sooooooo excited!!!! :)
I also recieved this lovely card from the devine Anne Ryan on SCS!!!! What a wonderful surprise and I just loved it!!!!
And don't miss the JustRite Blog Hop this month on the 17th/18th September!!! It's so big we had to make it over two days!!!! This month it's all about FONT and as you've seen by today's post, you can never have enough font to create that one of a kind sentiment or personalise a card, gift or project!!!
Well, this turned into quite a long post didn't it? That's all for today and thanks for visiting!!! :)

And last but definitely not least, this stunning card from Cindy (aka Mothermark on SCS) who also made a card for my Featured Stamper week --- highlighting my user name!!!! How wild is this with the fab colours and all the dimension....and of course a few DOTS!!! :)

BRAK and Card Appeal!!
And yet more exciting goodies arrive in my letterbox!!! This time I've been blessed by the truly delightful 'Lovely Linda' from SCS!!! How amazing is all this stuff??!!
I also want to mention that Linda is doing a Card Appeal for anyone wanting to send cards of support to the victims of the Victorian Bushfires. If you want to know more check out this SCS submission for - details . The cards will be forwarded through the Red Cross. You can PM her through SCS or leave a comment here if you wish to be a part of it so I can contact you with details.
These people have lost everything in the worst Natural Disaster in our country's history and I'm sure will appreciate any support they can get. Thanks to those who have already offered to be a part of this appeal!!

Check out this fabulicious card by my bestie Edna!!!!! Isn't it just gorgeous!!! (Can you tell we like pink!! Hee hee!!!) I also received the Brayton Font from Just Rite and the cute letterbox stamp by Sugar Nellie!!! Then she watched my kids while my hubby and I went to the movies and cleaned my kitchen while we were gone (we'd just had a big roast dinner)!!!! Isn't she just THE BEST!!!!!
I'm hoping I might actually get some time to make some more cards now that the week of chaos seems to be settling down.

Birthdays....
I've been telling you that it's birthday month here. This gorgeous card came for me from my Mum (yes, today is my birthday). Isn't it gorgeous!!!! You have to love pink and green, a bit of bling, beautiful colouring and check out that paper!!!! :)
The next card is a BRAK (Birthday Random Act of Kindness from Krafty Kylie at SCS!!!! It is my first ever RAK or BRAK that I've received from anyone --- I can't tell you how excited I was to open it ---- AND there was ribbon inside!!! How cool is that?!!
The next two cards are ones that I've made.
This is the card I made for my son --- I can't believe he's 7!!!!
I wanted to try making a card using my Star Nestabilities, so it' not very big, but it's fun and he liked it!! :)
The orange paper (that you can't really see) is from SU's Bali Breeze DSP, the number is from the retired Headline Alphabet (SU) and the sentiment is from The Cats Pajamas.
That's all the card news today.
I'm finding it hard to celebrate when our country is suffering so badly due to bushfires. So far 173 people are dead, 500 injured, 5000 homeless and it is expected to get worse. Our country has never seen anything like it before and hope they never have to again. Please pray for those affected and if you can donate to the Bushfire Appeal please do - there are many to choose from, from banks to donation tins at your local Woolworths Supermarket.

This one is for an older man in the family who shares my son's birthday. It's fairly basic, VV base, stamped image in Close to Cocoa on VV, mounted on CC and added some copper brads. The paper is by Heidi Grace and the scallops done with the SU scallop punch!
