I also want to give a big welcome to three new members of the team - Linda, Claudia and Naomi!!!  These girls have incredible talent and I just *know* you are going to love their creations!!!  Sadly we also have to say farewell to Heather and Beate, but they aren't going too far - you'll still see their amazing work on the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges each week.
I've made this a shaped card for something a little different and used orange for my colour palette.  Orange, I admit, is not in my comfort zone, but I was thinking of my friend and she loves orange, so I thought....why not???  The base has been made of pumpkin pie and cut with Mega Curved Rectangles and then I've added a layer of vanilla.  The next panel is the smaller die from the same set used for more pumpkin and a piece of Howdy Doody DP.  Next I've cut some vanilla with Labels 14 and topped with another piece of vanilla cut with Twisted Metal Tags and Accents.  Across this is a piece of ivory satin ribbon.  The sentiment is from Gerber Daisy and has been stamped and cut out with Ribbon Tags Trio and attached with some spotty orange grosgrain ribbon.  The daisies (also from Gerber Daisy) have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (YR00, YR12, YR16, YR18, E31, E33, YR24, G20, G21, G24, G28 - Burnt Orange Collection, Leaf Green Collection, Beehive CollectionFlesh Tones 1 Collection) and then fussy cut and popped up on foam tape.  To finish I've added some Latte Pearls to the corners.

So this month we are asking you to create a project based on either Spring or Autumn.

Here in Australia it is the beginning of Autumn - however Australia is a very large country and I live in a tropical climate where the seasons don't really change much.  The trees are green all year round, it doesn't snow and in the Summer it can be incredibly hot when we aren't having downpours of rain from the monsoon!!  I am not a gardener, so thanks to my Mum's gardening friend, Sue, I found out that these are some the flowers that bloom in our Autumn - Roses, Calla Lilies, Chrysanthemums, Morning Glories, Daisies, Nasturtiums, Irises, Zinnias, Hollyhocks.  With this insight, I decided to use Zinnias for my card today!!  :)

I've used a base of Aqua bazzill and layered with white (pierced), yellow bazzill and some Sidewalks DP.  The vertical panel is white punched with the Deco Fan punch and topped with more Sidewalks DP.  The Zinnias have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, YG11, YG13, YG17, B21, B23, B26, C1, C3, 0).  It's been cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and matted with the coordinating Lacey Circles.  The sentiment is also from Zinnias and has been cut out with Ribbon Tags Trio and attached with some aqua looped ribbon.  To finish I've added a few yellow pearls to the top corner.

Stamps - Zinnias (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Aqua and Yellow Bazzill, White, October Afternoon Sidewalks DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Large Circle and Lacey Circle Nestabilities, Ribbon Tag Trio Shapeabilities, Aqua Looped Ribbon, Martha Stewart Deco Fan Punch, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Kaisercraft Yellow Pearls.

I've made a Christmas card using Flourishes' Christmas Classics set for this month's challenge.  I've made it a Wintery Shaker card (even though here in Australia it's always scorching hot at Christmas time) to get everyone into the festive spirit!  I've used a base of Riding Hood Red and layered with white (pierced) and some Bo Bunny DP.  The side panel is the reverse side of the DP and matted with Chocolate Chip punched with MS Woodland Branch punch.  Over this I've added some ruffled cream ribbon and then a piece of red gingham ribbon.  I've stamped the cardinal in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (R32, R25, R37, R39, Y23, BG0000, E21, E25, E27).
The shaker is made of Riding Hood Red cut with two of the Labels 16 dies and then glued a piece of acetate to the back. I then sprinkled some Polar White Flowersoft onto the back and adhered the coloured cardinal panel to the frame using X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  I've stamped the sentiment from the same set, cut with Small Circle Nestabilities and matted with more red cut with Lacey Circle Nestabilities.  To finish I've added a double gingham bow, topped with a button and silver twine and a few more buttons to the top corner.

Beauty of a Fold

Hello Everyone!!!  With so many different folds out there try to use something other than an original card fold. You may find some examples online at the Splitcoaststampers Library.  Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creations HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB16. Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

I followed the Center Step Card tutorial on SCS for my card although I made it a little skinnier (5" x 11") so that I could use the MS punch around the page set for my feature panel!  The base is pink bazzill, then punched a piece of Very Vanilla with the Deco Fan punch around the page set.  For the other three panels I've used Vanilla and topped with pieces of MME Lost and Found DP.  I've stamped the roses from Flourishes' A Year in Flowers 2 set in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-press IT Blending Card and coloured with Copics (RV000, RV32, RV34, G20, G21, G24, G28) and then cut out with scissors.  I've popped this up on foam tape over a panel of more DP cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and matted with pink bazzill cut with Labels 18 Nestabilities.  The sentiment is from Flourishes' Zinnias set and has been stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and cut out with Fancy Tags Shapeabilities and trimmed with scissors and matted with pink also cut with the same die.  Finally I finished with pink butterflies punched with MS butterfly punch and added several pearls.
Stamps - A Year In Flowers 2, Zinnias (Flourishes)

BBB15 Beauty of a Technique!

Hello Everyone!!!  There are so many on-line resources sharing tips and techniques with stampers. One surefire favourite is the Resource Library over at SCS! So, this month’s Bring Back Beautiful Challenge is to be inspired by a technique you love, or maybe one you've never tried! Link up your Bring Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB15. You have until October 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

Well I had a lovely stroll through the Resource Library at SCS and found a technique that I hadn't tried before --- FAUX TILE!!  I thought I'd try something new!!  :)

I began with a base of yellow bazzill, layered with Chocolate Chip and some Authentique Blissful DP.  Down one side I've added more yellow bazzill punched with the Iron Gate Punch and topped with some May Arts Satin Ribbon.  I've stamped the beehive from Flourishes' Bee My Honey set in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copic Markers (RV55, RV63, RV66, Y11, Y15, Y17, BG0000, B32, B34, BV11, BV13, YG91, YG93, YG13, G21, G24, G28, E31, E33, E35, YR20, YR23, YR24, N0).  I cut the image out with Large Square Nestabilities (the one that's a 3 inch square) and cut it in 1 inch squares.  Then I added Dimensional Magic to each of the squares and left it to dry.  The Dimensional Magic is water based, so as you can see, it doesn't affect the Copic colouring in anyway!  :)  I found the next morning that my squares were a little curved from the DM and when I tried to flatten them a bit they cracked, so some of my 'tiles' are cracked!

Next I glued them to a 3 3/8in piece of Chocolate Chip and put something heavy on it while it dried to keep it flat.  Finally I adhered it to a piece of yellow cut with Lacey Square Nestabilities and added a bow to the ribbon.
I've decided to add some basic decoration on the inside by stamping the beehive in the bottom corner and the sentiment in the top corner in Memento Rich Cocoa.

I'll be the first to admit that the CAS style does not come easily to me, I love layers and bows and lots of pretties, so I nearly died when I saw this month's challenge!  I just left it pretty basic and let the colours do the talking.  My base is white and then I popped a layer of Rich Razzleberry and White (scored on my scor-pal) up on foam tape.  Around this I knotted (see, NO BOW!) some white organdy ribbon that was coloured with a RV63 Copic Marker.  In the corners I've added a couple of clear rhinestones - also coloured with the RV63 Copic.  Finally I stamped the Zinnias and sentiment from the Zinnias stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (RV63, RV66, G40, G82, G85, Y21, Y35).  It was cut out with Labels 18 Nestabilities, sponged with a little Dandelion Memento ink and also popped up on foam tape.

Stamps - Zinnias (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, White, Rich Razzleberry
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and Dandelion
Accessories - Copics, Labels 18 Nestabilities, White Organdy Ribbon, Clear Rhinestones, Foam Tape.

Neutral Beauty

Have you ever used neutral colors to bring out the depth in one of your coloring projects? Well, let's kick it up a notch and show you just how beautiful your stamped creations can be without any color at all! That's right, this challenge is to color up your card with neutrals - shades of grey, sepia tones or even black and white! Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge card HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB08. You have until March 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

For today's card I decided to use Flourishes' Waterlilies Stamp Set and stamped the waterlily three times in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured them with Copics (E50, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59) and then cut two of the images to create layers for a three dimensional effect.

I cut the sentiment panel using the Label 5 Nestabilities, sponged a little Antique Linen around the edge and stamped the sentiment from Cherry Blossoms in Memento Rich Cocoa.  The base of the card is created using Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip along with some some Basic Grey Capella DP.  The vertical panel is more chocolate, punched on one side with the single embossed curve punch and topped with cream crochet lace and some ivory satin ribbon.  To finish I added a few Kaisercraft Latte pearls to the corner.

Stamps - Waterlilies, Cherry Blossoms (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey Capella DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rich Cocoa, Antique Linen Distress Ink
Accessories - Copics, Labels 5 Nestabilities, Single Embossed Curve Punch, Cream Crochet Lace, Ivory Satin Ribbon, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Foam Tape, Kaisercraft Latte Pearls.

February is a very busy month for my family - 4 Birthdays, Valentines' Day and it's also our Wedding Anniversary!  With love as our theme this month, I thought what is more iconic than red roses!!  This beautiful Rose Heart is from the recent release called Hearts & Flowers.  I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured it with Copics (R32, R35, R37, R39) and then added subtle sparkle with a Clear Spica.  I then cut it out and attached it to a fan fold flower (white spritzed with Wheat Fields Glimmer Mist).  The base is made up of red, white (pierced) and River Rock card and topped with some MME Lush DP.  I then embossed another piece of River Rock with the Floral and Stone Impressabilities (the embossing comes out AMAZING on my new Grand Calibur!!!!).  The sentiment is also from Hearts & Flowers (and says I Love You!) and I've made it into a notched tag and slipped it under the Heart panel.  Finally I added some red ZVA roses in the corner and accented with some ZVA pearl flourishes and also added some Kaisercraft Snow Pearls to the corners.

Stamps - Hearts and Flowers (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Riding Hood Red, White, River Rock, MME Lush DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Scor Pal, Wheat Fields Glimmer Mist, Floral and Stone Impressabilities, ZVA Pearls and Flowers, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Scissors.

Today I was inspired by this beautiful hat image from Flourishes' Friendly Reminders stamp set!  Doesn't it give you a feeling of Yesteryear?  Maybe I was having an Anne of Green Gables flashback! :)

I decided to use a base of Very Vanilla (I really like vanilla for vintage giving that soft and aged feel) and layered with some pink bazzill I found in my stash.  I punched the pink with the Martha Stewart Deco Fan border punch and then layered with some Kasiercraft English Rose DP.  I punched the paper with the SU scallop punch and then sewed some wavy lines around the edges.  Across the bottom I added some more vanilla that I paper pleated and topped with some of this divine pink ribbon that my sweet friend Angie sent me!  I stamped and coloured the hat image twice, one I cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and my Grand Calibur, the other I cut out only the hat with a pair of scissors and popped it on foam tape.

I stamped on X-press It Blending Card and coloured the image with Copics - E31, E33, E35, R81, R83, R85, G20, G21.  I used E51 to airbrush the white card and white paper doily to give it a more vintage feel.  I then framed my image with more pink cut with Lacey Circle Nestabilities, attached it to the doily and popped it up on foam tape.  Next I stamped the sentiment, also from Friendly Reminders, framed it with more pink (using Small Circle Nestabilities) and popped it up on foam tape.  Finally I added a few Kaisercraft Blush Pearls to the top corners!

Wait until you see what beautiful projects the Beauty Girls have for you today!!!!
