Primrose Petals for Christmas Anyone?

I am traditionally a green and red girl when it comes to Christmas cards - but I have been stepping out of my comfort zone a little this year.

This was a class card from last month - Primrose Petal and Very Vanilla.  I love the Fancy Fan Folder.  I stamped the ornament in the middle of the Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out using the matching framelit.  I then embossed the rest of the cardstock with the Fancy Fan Folder and placed it all back together again - adding some height using dimensionals.

Think I will be rustling some more of these up in different colours as they are so quick to make.

Happy Christmas Bigz Bird Die

I love this die - I didn't think I did until I went to Convention and Elizabeth Stewart showed us some lovely lovely creations.

This was a card from last month's Christmas Stamp a Stack - isn't she lovely. I've used the soon to be retiring Letters to Santa designer series papers but you could use anything really.  

The Greeting is from Many Merry Messages - another retiree, and the little punch is also retiring too.  Thankfully the antique brads stay - yay cos they are my favourite.

There are a couple of places in the class this week and next - we will be exploring the Spotlighting Technique.

Still Time For More Winter Post

Another Christmas In July class card - this time using Winter Post and the Well Worn designer series papers - both items retiring at the end of this month.

I was inspired by something in blogland with this card and you could use this layout for any papers and colours - great for using up scraps.

Elegant Eggplant Christmas

A lovely simply Christmas card from one of the recent Christmas in July classes - I was stretching myself to make cards using non-traditional colours - wasn't easy but I do like this one.

I also then changed the sentiment and made this into a lovely teenage girl's birthday card - which should be with its recipient by now :)

Simply Soft With Bleach

During the Technique classes we make two different cards.  This one pushed some of the ladies out of their comfort zone a little - I think you either love or hate yellow!

Using bleach on Poppy Parade gives a lovely So Saffron or Daffodil Delight effect.  The tips of the flowers were highlighted with the white gel pen.  

The frames are cut with the new Framelits from the Autumn Winter Mini, with the white layer being embossed with the Lattice folder.  As the Whisper White was too bright I sponged So Saffron over the whole piece and then daubed the edges with Poppy Parade.

Bleaching Class

The first of this month's Technique classes happened Thursday of last week and this is one of the cards we made.

Baby Wipe Technique Take 2

Here's the second card we made during the Baby Wipe technique classes last month, Ornate Blossoms is such a lovely stamp, and I haven't used it nearly enough.

We are learning the Crayon Resist Technique this month - there are still a couple of places left for Thursday 3 May at 7.30pm if you want to come along.

New Class Update

Last month's technique class was all about Babywipes.  We made two cards using two different techniques and a sample for our technique books.

Sorry this photo is so dark - in Melbourne we have lost daylight savings so I am going to have to get better at planning my photography sessions arent I.

Bookings for the classes has been so good that I've added an extra night every month - it works out to be about the first Thursday every month - so now you have two opportunities to come along and learn something new.

Both classes will be the same technique - this month its Crayon Resist - and I'm keeping the classes small - so lots of attention and lots of time to have a play.

So if you are interested I still have three seats left in the new class - starting on Thursday 3 May at 7.30pm.

Sale-A-Bration Class

I had a great night helping some lovely ladies to create some cards using the Sale-a-Bration goodies - it was great fun and I think everyone had a great time.

This card was inspired by one I found on the net (if you know where let me know so I can leave the appropriate acknowledgement please) - I loved that it included all the ribbons, brads, papers and the lovely Outlined Ocassions set.

Sale-A-Bration Class this Thursday

Classes start this week, on Thursday.  Couple of seats still available. This is a great class if you haven't stamped before as the cards are designed to showcase the lovely Everyday Enchantment designer series papers.

We will be building up a Techniques Journal over the coming months (journals will be available to purchase at the next class) so you won't forget how to recreate all the ideas at home with supplies you already have.

Class costs $20 and the journal is $13.50.

Christmas In July

I've made a start on my Christmas cards.  How is that for organised?  I have started a monthly Christmas card class (waving hi to the ladies from Friday night) - here is the first of the three that we made.

Poppy Parade, Early Espresso and Whisper White .... lovely combination.  If you are wondering about that die cut - its the Top Note die cut once as usual and then you pop it back in the other way round to create a more square shape.

There are still a couple of places left in the August class - its on the 26th - and we are going to be getting glittery.  If you want to book a seat call or SMS 0428 254 952.

More Watercolouring with Fast and Fabulous

Now that I've done my very own blog hop I'm not sure what I have posted and what I haven't - so if you've seen this already ... sorry!

Regal Rose, Rose Red and Early Espresso are a really good combination.  I just stamped onto watercolour paper with Stazon and coloured in the flowers.  Its really easy and the Fast and Fabulous set is a two step stamp set (try saying that four times over really fast LOL).  This makes colouring in the flowers even easier.

We have a team challenge this month for faux tiling .... so I just divided the finished watercolour up into nine pieces - it looks very effective doesn't it.  Do you like the latest border punch - its lovely ... Scallop Trim Border, page 148 of the catalogue.

JAI 51 - A Colour Challenge

The lovely ladies at Just Add Ink have a colour challenge this week.  Such lovely colours - perfect for my new favourite stamp set Fast and Fabulous - a Hostess Level 2 set.

This style of watercolouring is so easy ... do you want to learn how to do it?

I'm running a class to show you how in the next couple of weeks.  You will make three different cards using the same stamp set and you can personalise them to suit different occasions.

Making Merry Monday Strikes Again

I was so excited when I saw that Dasher was in the new catalogue - I had been eyeing him up in the US catalogue and keeping my fingers crossed that he'd make an appearance in sunny Australia.  Dasher is one of the 'a la carte' range of single stamps .... you'll find them on the inside of the back cover of the new catalogue - he's $14.95.

This is the card we will be making during the classes in November - the one on 5 November is full but there is still places left on Friday 19 November if you are interested in coming along and having a play.  Check out the CLASSES page for more information - there's a tab at the top of this page at the very top - click on it to find out more.

The cardstock is Riding Hood Red from the Regals range, teamed up with Certainly Celery and the spotty paper from the Love Letter Designer Series paper pack. The sentiment is from the Perfect Punches stamp set ... I've used a marker pen to highlight just the wording.  Lots of sparkles too - Stampin' Up! have just this year included self adhesive Jewels (page 140) .... they are faceted and very sparkly :)

Oh and did I mention it is now 9 weeks until Christmas ..... aren't I naughty to you!  If you know me well I am only bragging cos I am ahead ... that's unusual for me (isn't it mum) ... if you need help making your cards let me know .... NewsPrint Designer Series Paper

Rose Red, the new Newsprint Designer Series Paper and a new stamp set called Perfect Punches and the trusty Big Shot helped to create this lovely card.  I don't know what I did before Bertie The Big Shot arrived .... I've used the Polka Dot folder and Top Note die cut for this card. 

It's really easy to create the patchwork effect ...  here's a sample of one I made for another project. 

I use the larger 1 3/8" square punch but any size will do.  Run some lines of snail or double sided tape over a piece of cardstock that is just larger than the Top Note Die, then just randomly stick the little squares down to create a pattern.  Run the piece through the Big Shot and hey presto .... a patchwork Top Note die cut.

If you came to my class on 1 October - you'll all know how to do this - its easy isn't it.  Hope this inspires you to have a go for yourself.
