Happy Mother's Day

When was there ever a better time to shake up this little piece of unloved blogland than on Mother's Day.

IMG_3494
Of course, Mother's day in England is a little earlier in the year, and as this year I only managed to send a card to both of our Mums I thought I would send their pressies on the Australian date - great excuse to make an extra card .... albeit that I don't think they have actually arrived yet!

I used the All Dressed Up Framelit dies together with the Print Poetry Designer Series paper packs - my favourite pack of paper at the moment (page 16 of the seasonal catalogue).  I love the Flower Trim (page 5 of the seasonal catalogue) - I've cut off individual flowers to use.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums - near and far.  I'm spending the day with my two - visiting the garden centre to buy a new plant for the garden, some home cooked breakfast, a soccer match and a driving lesson .... sounds perfect to me.

Pop back soon, I've lots of cards to show you, together with all the latest news from Stampin' Up!

SAM Challenge # 6 - What Are You Grateful For?

IMG_4678 When I saw the title of this challenge my mind starting buzzing with all the photos that I could - did I use the photos of all the lovely flowers that I am trying very hard to grow, or the beautiful sunsets, or my family or the house ... eventually I decided that I would use this photo of the children sitting on Sapphire Beach, which is near Coffs Harbour.

IMG_4682 I picked the closest colours I had to 'extend' the colours of the water out beyond the photo.  I've torn the edges of the cardstock to create the texture and shades.

IMG_4681 I've stamped the surfboards and sign from the Just Surfing set as a simple embellishment - and included the waves on a layer of Kraft.

IMG_4683 And I've used more torn layers of cardstock to represent the sand, some twine and some Stazon White Refill ink with a sponge to just 'swish' on some colour to make the Night Of Navy cardstock look a little sand washed.

The journalling was printed directly onto the Kraft cardstock ... it reads ...

I am grateful for ....

... a cool down at Sapphire Beach in New South Wales.  Just a simple dip in the ocean (well not too far out in case of sharks!) but far enough to have fun and bask in the beautiful clear ocean waters that surround Australia - if you could see the colour of the sea where I grew up you'd really appreciate the blueness and sparkle - whether it is Safety Beach with the Petries, the Indian Ocean in Perth or the waters off Raymond Island, it glistens with a blueness that needs to be seen to be believed!

I've used the following items:

Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Kraft, Creamy Caramel, Pacific Point, Brilliant Blue, Handsome Hunter and Whisper White
Ink: Stazon white refill, Night of Navy and Creamy Caramel
Stamp Set: Just Surfing
Accessories: Twine
Tools: Sponges, Marker for journalling the date

I hope this inspires you to grab a photo or two of something you are grateful for ... and hop on over the the Stampamemory Site and enter this fortnight's challenge - there are prizes!

Sale-A-Bration Sneek Peek!

Only five days to go and Sale-A-Bration kicks in .... which means FREE stamps!

Now I need to be honest with you, since my holiday I have been finding it very hard to sit down and stamp - wasn't sure if it was that I have so much to create for upcoming commitments or that I had lost my mojo ... but every night last week I just wasn't motivated at all - I was a little worried!

So on Friday night I made myself sit down and concentrate - I picked a colour scheme and one stamp set and five cards later I'm happy again :o)  I'd like to call it the 'Stampin' Up! Effect' - you can't fail to make a great card with so many colour coordinated products ... so once I had started there was no stopping me.  I'm one happy bunny again.

Inspired by Sue Madex's card here .... I used the circle punch to create the circles that I then attached as the background to the card.  I am so pleased that the Scallop Oval punch is still available from the Spring Mini - it fits perfectly with the silver Hodge Podge Hardware - which is still available in the Inventory Sale - priced at just $43.46.

After stamping the little parcels I have added some colour with a Rose Red marker and then added some Crystal Effects for a bit of shine.
