SAM Challenge - Celebrations

Its the first Monday of the month - must be time for a new SAM Challenge. Stampamemory is celebrating it's second birthday this month - so the Design Team decided it would be appropriate to scrap a celebration.  Our most recent Sadler Celebration was Kieran's 13th birthday (blacked out faces of his friends for blogland (their faces are usually that mucky in real life honest)).

I just had to use the Celebrations DSP.  This is the month for retiring items .... and yes all the Designer Series Papers will be retiring - I wasn't sure about this one when I first saw it but I am pleased to say, I've almost finished the whole pack.  Its bright colours have worked well with my photos this year.

IMG_9790
I love the Stars wheel too (rumoured to be retiring but I will update this when I know for sure) - I love that it matches the star punch.

IMG_9792
I've used the paper crimper to add texture to all of the pieces and the Bigshot Timeless Type alphabet for the numbers, Kieran is now officially a teenager! Olivia and I made the cupcakes - and we found some cute icing 'toppers' in the shape of balls together with some grey striped cupcake wrappers to make them 'teenage boy' proof.

IMG_9791 Bunting is so now - I love it .... wonder if Stampin' Up! will bring the bunting punch to us in the new catalogue this time?

Kieran always has so much fun with this group of boys - and they are all so lovely ... its great to be able to scrap these photos and the event.

So if you fancy putting a page together to celebrate an event please do join in .... post your link here and check out what all the other designers have come up with.

Back again very soon with more news of retired items, how to get your hands on the new catalogue, a launch party date and a OLW update.

Signing off ... a very busy crafting stampin bee

Happy Birthday Chris and Susannah

Two birthdays on the same day .... first my brother celebrates his 40th today - yep he finally enters the over 40's club - welcome Chris!

IMG_8008Isn't the little penquin cute - he's the two step owl punch with a slight adjustment to his ears - I chopped them off ... brutal I know - hence his startled look I think :)

The little balloons are from the Party This Way set and the numbers were cut using the Sizzix Timeless Type alphabet.  I really love the Celebrations Designer Series papers - they are just so bright.

And my second card is for my lovely friend Susannah who lives in Scotland.  We met at a painting class many years ago and have remained friends ever since.

IMG_8016Another Fifth Avenue rose, this time in Rose Red - watercoloured and then cut out - I sponged the edges a little.  I used the Friendly Words roller and Versamark to create the background and layered up pieces of embossed card, leaves from the Two Step Bird punch and offcuts from the beautiful new Vintages trims to create this card.  The lace at the bottom is called Chantilly and I've added a few of the little self adhesive pearls - I think you can just about see them the photo - they are very tiny - and a quick spritz of shimmer mist.

Happy birthday to both of you.

Love from Nikki

xx

NOTE:  The latest Stampamemory challenge started today - if you missed this morning's post scroll down :)

Happy Birthday Christian

My nephew celebrates his birthday today ... how I wish I owned the new range of teenage style stamps but not yet ... so I got creative with the lovely Deisgner Series papers, Celebrations.

IMG_7741Because the design was so simple I thought I'd alter the card base, so I folded the card to open in the centre - there's probably a special name for it .... but it escapes me right now LOL

IMG_7742and because I had lots of scraps left over it was so quick to make up another card at the same time - its great paper - really bright and the Perfect Punches stamp set is fast being my favourite sentiment set - so quick to stamp and punch.  What did I ever do without my Top Note die?  I have a new one the Scallop Square from the new Summer Mini - can't wait to give that one a try out soon too.

So Christian, we hope you have a fab day.

Love from Auntie Nikki, Uncle Paul, Olivia, Kieran and the dogs xxxx

I've had this idea in my head for a little while now - perhaps I have seen something similar, I often spy things like colours on billboards and display layouts in brochures and think that would make a good scrapbooking page.

Once I had decided on the colours (I was a little 'hung up' on the coral colour of Olivia's top) .... it came together so quickly.

IMG_5809
I've used the Large and Small star punches to create heaps of different stars from the Bella Bleu designer series paper and the Kraft and Night of Navy cardstock.  I also used the Classic Stars roller, some twine and a couple of pieces of taffeta ribbon.  I sponged everything ... including my fingers - Night of Navy ink everywhere!  The stars have been punched with the Crop-o-Dile and threaded onto the twine - I've then positioned them where I wanted them to be - adding a bit of snail adhesive here and there to keep them in place.

IMG_5810
and the journalling reads ...

Sweet Fourteen!

What does a 14 year old want for her birthday?

A GHD hair straightener of course!

oh and a couple of beads for her

Pandora bracelet.

And I surprised you with your card ....

There isn't a 14 year old in the land that doesn't love

Twilight

It took a lot of research for an 'uncool' mum to find

out that this is Bella's truck, thanks to a Stampin' Up!

friend for stamping the images for me ...

and a cool website that gave me the quote ...

Gee it's hard keeping up with a 14 year old :o)

IMG_5808I hope this inspires you to create a Celebrations scrapbooking page - get out those punches - they really do make a page very easy to create.

Well, that’s all from me. Now you’re off to enjoy the beautiful creations of Alisha Watson, a very special lady who is very creative.

And don't forget to enter the draw for some candy.
