Happy Birthday Liz

A lovely lady told me this week that no matter what age you are, no matter what else you have on at that particular moment, the time is always right to welcome new friendships into your life.

IMG_9735
Well, for me, that sums up the lady I made this card for.  Introduced through another lovely friend; Liz and I met whilst sharing a love for stamps and papercrafting.

IMG_9738
As I was making this card I was thinking of all the other lovely friends I have met in the past two years;  ladies who understand how I can get so excited about a new roll of ribbon, a new set of stamps, a new technique that I just have to share, share a passion for 'daubing' or have got (or have survived!!) teenage kids ... or who just enjoy a cuppa and a chat, or a quick catch up by SMS.  I think I am so very lucky to have these girlfriends in my life.

So Happy Birthday Liz, hope you have a super day and thank you for our friendship.

Love Nikki

PS - why have I waited so long to start using Cajun Craze?  Love the French Foliage set - it so suits this colour, and the Baja Breeze and Old Olive combination is a suggestion from my trusty Colour Coach.

Sale-A-Bration is the time to become a Demo!

Last year I wrote a post similar to this one .... cos yes ... Sale-a-bration is STILL the time to become a demo!

WHY?

Because not only do you receive a fantastic value for money, huge basket full of Stampin' Up! goodies for just $289 (for more information click here) - but if you join up during Sale-a-bration you also receive a FREE stamp set of your choice - to the value of $79.95.

So what can I add to all the information you have seen or read before?  Well Stampin' Up! provide all demos with lots and lots of extra resources to help with workshops or just to whet your appetite to create beautiful projects.

IMG_8218

Here's a card I found on the Demonstrator website when I was looking for inspiration.  Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso .... isn't it a great combination.  There are many more ideas like this to help you to create.

So whether you are thinking of joining for the discount (and lots and lots of us do join for just that reason) or you are thinking now is the time to create a business just for you then contact me to find out more.

Keep cool if you are a Melbourne-ite - and come back in a day or two for a very special blog hop.

Making Merry Monday Strikes Again

IMG_7011_2
I was so excited when I saw that Dasher was in the new catalogue - I had been eyeing him up in the US catalogue and keeping my fingers crossed that he'd make an appearance in sunny Australia.  Dasher is one of the 'a la carte' range of single stamps .... you'll find them on the inside of the back cover of the new catalogue - he's $14.95.

This is the card we will be making during the classes in November - the one on 5 November is full but there is still places left on Friday 19 November if you are interested in coming along and having a play.  Check out the CLASSES page for more information - there's a tab at the top of this page at the very top - click on it to find out more.

The cardstock is Riding Hood Red from the Regals range, teamed up with Certainly Celery and the spotty paper from the Love Letter Designer Series paper pack. The sentiment is from the Perfect Punches stamp set ... I've used a marker pen to highlight just the wording.  Lots of sparkles too - Stampin' Up! have just this year included self adhesive Jewels (page 140) .... they are faceted and very sparkly :)

Oh and did I mention it is now 9 weeks until Christmas ..... aren't I naughty to you!  If you know me well I am only bragging cos I am ahead ... that's unusual for me (isn't it mum) ... if you need help making your cards let me know .... I'm here to help :)  And don't forget if you want a seat at the next class get in touch.

FREE to a good home!

IMG_7125
YES ... that's right .... he's FREE to a good home!  Look what he has done ...

IMG_7131
How could he?  Shoes I can just about live with ... my boots ... well okay it's spring time and I won't need them for a while but .... a STAMP .... that's a crime ... and I needed it for Thursday night!

IMG_7102
Here's the card we will be making .... although now the sentiment will be .... well .... different!

This is the my second entry for the JAI challenge this week to 'Just Add Blue' - the Just Add Ink team are raising awareness for the charity Beyond Blue who work  depression and anxiety .... the second part of the challenge was to send the creation as a Random Act of Kindness (RAK).  Now I really love RAK's ... because whenever I receive them I really appreciate the sentiment behind them .... to receive a note from someone out the blue makes you feel loved, cherished and remembered.

So whilst Spencer may have tried to eat a whole stamp ... and isn't yet forgiven .... this card is winging its way to someone who is very much loved, very much cherished and very much remembered ... very often :)

And if there is anyone out there that wants a free six month old schnoodle be sure to leave a comment and I'll post him to you ...... LOL

Making Merry Monday

IMG_6066I got a bit inky making this one!  In fact I made 11 of them for a team swap so I was very inky indeed!

Using the Tiny Tags and Tiny Tag punch these cards were quick to make.  Colours are Baja Breeze and Confetti White card stock with Basic Grey.  The little snowflake is from the Winter Post set.

Back this week with news of a special offer.

Just Riding

Just a quick one from me today ... work is a little hectic shall we say ... but nothing new there really - just ten and eleven hour days are eating into my crafting time which isn't good at all .... in fact it's eating into my whole life but there is light at the end of the tunnel and so I know it won't last long.

IMG_6071
Here's a card I made last weekend for one of Kieran's best friends.  using the Just Riding set and some torn paper and sponges this was very quick to make.  I have seen this image somewhere about a year ago (if you know where I saw it let me know so that I can give credit where credit is due please)  ... and I would have liked to use the brayer but I have misplaced it .... I have put it somewhere safe and now I can't find it!  But anyway, the sponge did the trick.

The little sentiment 'way 2 go' is from the new Level 1 hostess set that is only available until the end of August ... if you want to know how you can get your own set just give me a call or email.

Have a lovely day .... back on Monday with Making Merry Monday and I am going to set some time aside this weekend to rustle up a few more things to share with you.

Happy Birthday Steven

Its not my brother-in-law's birthday yet - it's next week (OMG I am early for a change), but I am pretty certain that he doesn't visit my blog and so I am safe to show you my challenge entry to the Just Add Ink Challenge - just add stitching.

Inspired by Sue Madex's card for the Art With Heart team blog hop, I made this card using my favourite star punches - yes I know it looks nothing like Sue's card - but isn't that always the way - you sit down to make one thing and end up making something else - at least there are stars on it!

IMG_5909
As I sat putting little cross stitches into the middle of the big stars .... and running a line of stitching along the bottom of the card it struck me that this is how my crafting passion began, that was nearly 20 years ago.  I used the mat pack to create a row of neat little holes - which I then ran a piece of Linen thread through.

IMG_5910And here is a close up of the stitching - just in case my Mum pops in to have a little look - she knows how good ..... hummm okay ... how bad I am with a needle and thread.

So Happy Birthday to Steven, brother of Paul, and Uncle to Olivia and Kieran .... lets hope he is celebrating this time next week.

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #26

Makeesha-colour-challenge-26-1
As luck would have it I needed to make a card or two this weekend for a few birthdays that are coming up so I had a look at Makeesha Byl's challenge and fell in love with these lovely colours.

IMG_5815
Using the Upsy Daisy set and a card inspired from a lovely friend Christine Blain - I created this lovely sparkly masterpiece.  I love the Real Red and Basic Grey together ... they are a lovely combination aren't they.

Come back on the 13th for another example - as once I started with this colour combo I couldn't stop :o)

Making Merry Monday 2010 # 3

Morning, and welcome to another Making Merry Monday .... today's offering is a little gift ... everyone needs a gift tag or two at Christmas time so why not make a couple of these packs to give away as pressies.

IMG_5612Four handmade tags would make an idea gift for a teacher (along with choccies of course), or to send in the post with a card - everyone needs gift tags!

The bag topper is a top note die cut which I have ran through the Polka Dot Impressions folder and then folded in half - such a cute touch.

I'll be using one of the tags to create a matching card .... so quick and easy.

Convention Swap 2010

As promised, here is my swap ... I had such a good response to the bookmarks I made for the last blog hop I thought I would make a few as my swap.  Didn't manage to make the 100 I was aiming for ... but that's okay - Olivia helped me to make 30 or so ... for which I am very grateful - thanks Livvy xxx

IMG_5722I've used the Vintage Vogue stamp set and the Very Vintage wheel together with a technique called Masking.  You simply stamp the image twice ... cut one out and use the cut out to cover the other image - then you roller (or stamp) over the top ... remove the little cut image and hey presto .... Masking!

If you'd like a template so that you can make these too leave me a comment and I will email one to you.  If you left a comment last time check your mailbox because you should have received one last night!

Book a class or workshop and I'll show you how easy it is to make these - new monthly stamping class starts on Friday 2 July at 7.30pm - call or email to book your seat - 0428 254 952.

Thanks again Olivia for your help - hope you enjoyed your extra lollies from the English Lolly Shop in Darling Harbour.

Happy Birthday Yvonne

May is our birthday month - do you have one of those?  Lots of friends and relatives have birthdays in May.  I do have a sense of achievement when I get all the cards made for this month ... I even had most of them in the post super early too.

This is the card I have made for my sister-in-law Yvonne.

IMG_5637I am in love with the Big Shot - and especially the embossing folders - you can make cards so quickly and easily - and the new Tiny Tags set and matching Medium Jewelry Tag - so cute and so quick.

IMG_5638
I've punched out several of the punches and then tied them all together with a piece of hemp twine ... just a cute little embellishment.

And here is another version, yes another birthday ... this time for Aris, a good friend of mine who celebrates her birthday at the end of April (yes this one was late!).

IMG_5586
These cards are so easy to make and very effective ... expect to see lots more of these :o)

Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Matt

IMG_5577
It's been a while since I have had a birthday to make a card for ... and then this week I have several to make.  This one is for Matt, a very lovely family friend who we adore.

I've used the Just Surfing set and a Top Note Die for the Big Shot to create this card ... Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Kraft - great combination.

Happy Birthday Matt - we hope you have a fantastic day.

Love from the Sadlers

Mini Creations

IMG_5566
I've used the new Pendant Notes in the Autumn Winter Mini to create a little card - it's only 10.8 cm square but it is so cute.  They cost $17.50 and the pack contains 15 of these little cards and 15 matching envelopes - brilliant value.

You slip the little die cut pieces out to reveal the pattern and then the rest is up to you.  I've used the Melon Mambo cardstock and the Vintage Vogue stamp set to create a really quick and easy card.  The centre of the flower is a little white brad and the centre of the bow is a half pearl from the Pretties Kit.

Talking of bows have you noticed how good this one is .... I don't 'do' bows but anyone can do this one ... leave me a comment and I'll send you the link to a great little video I found!

Back soon with another little Pendant Note creation.

Team New Mini Card Swap

IMG_4752
With the start of a new Mini comes in inevitable card swap amongst team members.  Its a great way to have a heaps of cards to show at workshops - we all have different styles and tastes - I love hosting the swaps as this means I get lots and lots of parcels to open :o)

So this is mine ... a simple design I cased from Sue Madex (who recently qualified for the Stampin' Up! Incentive trip - we are all so proud of her).

My card used the new Cottage Garden set and the matching Cottage Wall Designer Series paper.  I've used the 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" circle punches - it was a very quick and easy card to make - just as well as I had to make 16 of them :o)

Hope that you are having a great day ... we are off to Raymond Island for the Easter long weekend ... don't worry I have my crafty box all packed and ready to go ... now I wonder if hubby will notice it stacked in the boot of the car ;o)

Art with Heart Team Blog Hop - Autumn Winter Mini Delights :o)

Has another month gone by already ... I am getting older faster than I want too :o)  Well its time again for another Art with Heart team blog hop - Autumn Winter Mini inspiration is our theme this month. Our team, lead by Claire Daly, has over 90 members; we enjoy the added benefit of an extremely active forum - here is just the work of a few of us.

You may have just come from the very talented Kimmy Meiklejohn, but if you are starting here, don’t worry … you can make the complete journey just by following the links at the end of each post. There are 14 stops along the way and we hope you will visit each one to see the wonderful creations we have to show you!

When I first saw the new mini I fell in love with this set ... Cottage Garden - there is even some new Designer Series Paper to match - called Cottage Wall.

IMG_4750I've used the new Rich Razzleberry cardstock (a new In Colour) and a Versamark pad to create the background print, then added Orchard Opulence and Old Olive to complete the colour combination.

IMG_4751
I love the spiral punch from the Ideas Book and Catalogue and have used it here to create a little extra detail - and backed it with some Old Olive ribbon ...

IMG_4748
And of course once I got started ... I couldn't stop at one so here is another using the other side of that yummy stripy Cottage Wall paper ... isn't it brilliant that the flowers match the stamp set. And just how cute is that new butterfly?

Now as usual, if you visit and comment on each blog in the hop and then email ME, you'll be in the draw for some blog candy - this monthly kindly donated by Kathryn Mangelsdorf.  Now unlike me, Kathryn is one organised chickerdee and has posted a picture of the candy for us to drool over, no I mean show ... to you all ..

Candy photo It's very  cute .... yes there are die cuts there .... so yes this does mean that the Big Shot has arrived - whooo hooo!  There is a deadline of 72 hours to leave your comments (that's 6.00am AEST 3 April) and only non SU demos are eligible to win - although we'd love all visitors to leave some comments please - thanks girls.

Right onward and upward you go ... blog hop and comment and then email me to let me know ... hope you have fun.  Off you go to our lovely and very creative team leader Claire Daly who has a lovely creation to share.

Olivia's Easter Baskets

IMG_4699
Olivia has been making Easter baskets ... aren't they cute!  The little bunny is made from punches and the boxes are an origami masterpiece - goodness knows how she makes them but if you want to know leave me a comment and I'll get a template sorted out :o)

IMG_4701
Here's a close up of the handle - the eyelet was set using the Crop-o-Dile.  Now you may be wondering who these are for ... well they are a surprise for two lovely people who help us as a family, but .... I have a confession to make ... well I don't cos I didn't commit the crime ... but the three chocolate lovers in our house have eaten the contents already ... so I'm off to refill them before the weekend ... shush no one will ever know :o)

Back tomorrow with a scrapbooking layout over at the Stampamemory site.

Don't forget the Summer Mini and Sale-a-Bration end this Wednesday ... call me if you need anything or if you want to take up the newsletter offer :o)
