Marty Minto was fired from his job at WORD 101.5 in Pittsburgh as radio show host for saying that, now that he's shuffled off his mortal coil, it's possible that the Pope isn't headed for Heaven because he wasn't born again. I wonder how Marty thought he'd get away with his job intact, in this American culture, after saying something so inflammatory.

He's still free to speak. He'll have to go back to his street corner or Fundie pulpit now. Who knows? Maybe FOX News will hire him.

As a lone voice, Marty Minto isn't such a dangerous fellow. Here is what is truly scary: There are millions of Evangelical fundamentalists who still think like that. Another lesson about American insanity.

When I think about all the crap Rush Limbaugh has gotten away with, I see Marty Minto's firing as hypocritical.
