Busker on Hyde Civic Square
Near the bus stop by the flower planter and between the phone box and a bench a busker is playing on the Civic Square. He has come fully equipped with music stand microphone and speakers. In the background the Town Hall on the right is covered with scaffold. On the left is the RBS bank.

L is for ladder
A fortnight ago I showed you a view of the roofspace of St George's looking through the walls of the tower from the ringing room. The ringing room is where bell-ringers pull the ropes which hang down from the belfry through the clock room into the ringing room.
A ladder on the wall of the ringing room leads up into the clock room. Getting up there was a movement too far for me I'm afraid.
For a full history of St George's bells, see Old Hyde.

Inside Gee Cross Methodists
Gee Cross Methodists Church stands on land which was once part of Ralph Fold. Originally, Stockport Road Wesleyan Methodist Church and founded in 1882, when the Primitive Methodist Chapel on Joel Lane closed in 1969 the two congregations merged as Gee Cross Methodists Church.
The memorial tablets in the right hand corner came from the Joel Lane chapel which was demolished in the 1970s.
These and other memorials in the church can be seen in detail on Old Hyde.
The organ on the left was originally built by Wadsworth & Co in 1910. A video of Christopher Lawton playing on the organ in 2011 can be viewed on YouTube.
Photographs of the outside of the church can be seen on Hyde DP Xtra.

Above Caesars
In my recent post Barclays Reflections you saw, reflected in the bank's window, the windows above the colonnade across the street.
Under the colonnade is Caesars Bar & Café. It used to be Caesars Hair Team but the hairdresser relocated to Romiley last year. I suspect the café bar has kept the name to save on the costs of new signage.
On the left is a late night opening pharmacy.
The premises above Caesars, accessed via the blue door in between, are now the home of "Freedom Dancers" who according to their website "have been in the dance industry for a few years now and come to realize dance companies can offer so much more than just a dance school. We cater for all occasions as well as providing the dance school experience."

Weekend Reflections: Gee Cross Well Dressing
Last Sunday was Gee Cross Well Dressing. The procession around the seven wells was led by the Adamson Band. The crowds gathered by the Grapes Hotel and across the road are all reflected in the bandsman's instrument.
