The inevitable...

It was going to happen sooner or later. Jake ate my Blackberry. It is somewhat mangled--missing keys, others jammed and about 40 percent of the screen is AWOL.

Jake is a lovable monster--an ankle-biter, a chewer, a destroyer--a 41-pound puppy bounding through the house like a bull in a china shop (a bull on crack). If we survive puppyhood, he is going to be one heckuva great dog.

good things...

Well, if you have been following this almost-never-updated-anymore blog, you'll know I've had my share of bad luck and disasters over that past year or so.

So, in March, a few things went right. I got a job with the Alzheimer's Association and got a fabulous new puppy who is a mix of shepherd and
St. Bernard (we think). We named him Jake, after my husband's grandfather. He is a handful at 31 pounds at 14 weeks of age. He's doubled in size in the one month we've had him! He's a really happy-go-lucky little guy whose temperament fits in great with the other dogs.

Here's some pics of him:

Hello! Got nuts?

These squirrels who frequent the bird feeder right outside our living room window drive the dogs and cats bonkers-or nuts rather.

Saturday's Shepherd

Here is my passenger from yesterday. He is a 5 year-old shepherd being transported all the way to Wisconsin so he can have a second chance. He was the most frightened passenger I've ever transported. He had a precious heart though. With a little love and patience he'll be a wonderful best friend. He didn't know how to walk on a leash and I had to carry him to the grass to let him pee (which he was too nervous to even do that). His heart was pounding when I lifted him into my arms. He never whined or complained and you could tell he wanted to be friends but was just to scared. He laid down in the back with his head between the seats so he could be close and so he could see where he was going. Poor guy...I don't think he even had a name yet. He just broke my heart, but I have high hopes for him.

from Noah's Ark Rescue...
GREENVILLE, SC.....Let's find this wandering pair a wonderful home for CHRISTMAS....PLEASE, HELP.
HOLLY and NOEL

This traveling pair have been seen wandering all over Winder, Georgia hoping someone would adopt them for the past two months. How anyone could look out their front door, see these two and not let them in to stay is amazing to me. Just one look and they win me over.  They originally were seen separately and then they teamed up with the dog always following the cat. Never the other way around. When we found out Animal Control was going to be called, we decided we just couldn't risk them being PTS. We sent a wonderful volunteer to pick them up and transport them to our vet in Greenville, SC. We have had them both fully vetted. Holly, the dog, had to be spayed. Noel had already been neutered, which we are very thankful for, since I bet he just loves to have a good time. They are both as friendly as can be and would make the perfect ready made family. It's Christmas time. Let's give them a present of a new life together with a wonderful family that will love on them as much as we do.

I (Noah's Ark Rescue) have personally picked up all of their expenses since they are not an abuse case. They were abandoned but not abused. Please, send this e-mail far and wide so we can get them home by Christmas.

These kittens need good homes...

A very sweet good samaritan is desperately trying to find these kittens a home before they are taken to the shelter. She is trying to get them a home even though she is severely allergic to them. If you are in the market for a super-cute kitten, these darling little guys are available. Please share with everyone you know. After losing Grayson last week, we're not ready for a new kitty baby just yet.

say a little kitty prayer...

Poor Grayson is at the vet.
He has been getting more and more disoriented over the past couple of days and I asked the vet to squeeze him in today. They are keeping him overnight for fluids and checking bloodwork. Not really sure what is going on with my little old man. He's 15 and the last of the original crew of kitties we adopted. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow.

cat nightmares...

(obviously I am bored and still not sleepy)...

...but I had to write this down. Peanut is asleep behind my head on the couch and he is having a kitty nightmare of sorts. He is growling and hissing in his sleep. Now, I have seen plenty of dogs dream, woof, and growl while dreaming, but I don't think I have ever seen a cat be than demonstrative while dreaming. I've seen paws twitch and such, but well, that was just funny. I moved and he startled awake, his big green eyes a little glazed from being ripped from his nocturnal adventures. He was fighting with someone - probably beating up Yuki - that's usually who is pouncing on his during the day.

I'm still hungry.
