Nestle Hot Choco in Korea

Another thing that I like the most in fall or in cold weather is the hot choco. My hubby doesn't like coffee much so I bought hot choco not only for him but also for me. I went to e-mart and went to coffee section to buy this Nestle Hot Choco. I tried other hot choco brands but this Nestle Hot Choco Original is the best so far among the others that I've tasted. It's more chocolatey.

Here's how I make delicious hot choco. Instead of water, I boil milk in the pot. I measure the milk with cup depends on how much I want to drink. I always have a half of mug and I put two spoons of choco powder. I don't put any sugar but my hubby who likes sweets wants his mug of hot choco with a spoon of sugar.

My Home made Starbucks Coffee

There are lots of franchise coffee shop in Korea and most of them like starbucks are expensive. Coffee is more delicious in winter and I can't spend around $5 for coffee everyday. I can't start work without a cup of coffee everyday so I drink coffee at work but I think having coffee with my husband at home is the most relaxing time on weekends so I thought of making delicious coffee at home. Of course, it's not as yummy and healthy like starbucks, holly, cafe bene, etc. but at least it's also tasty and much cheaper.

Here's how I make my semi-starbucks coffee. All I need is cappuccino mix and whipping cream. You can get them at e-mart or home plus if you wanna try it for yourself.

Put the cappuccino mix in a cup.

Pour some boiled water.

Put some whipping cream on top.

Enjoy the delicious and special home-made coffee.

Hallasan Soju

My hubby and I don't drink but when my hubby bought raw fish and oysters, they give him soju or korean alcohol for free. They gave him Hallasan Soju, the famous alcohol in Jeju Island. It came from the famous mountain in Jeju Island called Mt. Halla or Hallasan in Korean. "San" means mountain in english.

Don't forget to try Hallasan Soju if you visit Jeju Island. It tastes milder than other soju. The taste wasn't strong enough so I tried 3 shots in a soju cup but then I felt so dizzy. The mild taste doesn't mean that it's not strong enough to make you feel dipsy.

Oh, that's my cup and I just drank less than half of the bottle but I felt dizzy so I threw away the rest of the alcohol. Nobody will drink anyway.

Makgoli

Makgoli is korean traditional drink which is favorite by old generations specially those who are living in the countryside. Sometimes you'll people under the trees drinking this alcohol which is made of rice. I don't drink but I like the taste of this alcohol specially when it's cold.

I first tasted it when me and my co-workers visited a temple and the restaurant was selling this kind of alcohol. We ordered it and each of us had a bowl of makgoli. I felt dizzy after drinking mine. One of my co-workers said that the drink is very strong and he warned the ladies not to drink it when with another man. hehehe...

Anyway, my hubby and I went to the market and we saw this makgoli. My hubby who doesn't drink any alcohol has never tasted it. I said it was delicious and it's because it's too cheap, just only a dollar a bottle we decided to buy and had it at home.

My hubby had tasted a little and he gave his to me. I drank 3 bowls and I drank the rest on the next few days. I had a bowl before I go to bed and when I feel thirsty. It's really cool and it obeys my thirst. I don't wanna buy anymore because I'm worried that I will be addicted to it.

Coffee cup for free

Everything is expensive here in Korea but what I like the most is the freebies. I was shopping around in the supermarket when I saw this Maxim Arabica 100 Coffee where you can get 2 sets of a cup and a saucer for coffee. Oh yeah! Coffee cups for free? I love it!

My hubby and I are not coffee drinker. We don't drink coffee much. For me, a cup of coffee a day is enough. My hubby rarely drinks coffee. But I always buy a lot of coffee to bring in the office.

By the way, don't you like the cup? I have lots of cup at home but I always use this two when I drink coffee with my hubby. I think they are cute, aren't they? Anyway, they are just free. hehe..

Black Raspberry Vinegar Juice

Whenever my mother in law visits us, she doesn't come with empty hands. She always brings something for us. The last time that she came here, she brought this Bogbunja (Black Raspberry) vinegar juice.

We have to mix the juice with water 5-6 times the amount of juice. It is sour like vinegar but it is made of black raspberry so it's much more delicious than just a vinegar. My mother in law said it's good for our health. Whatever my mother in law thinks or heard that something is good for the health, then she buys and gives us. That's mother's love, I think.

The juice is good when we have a sore throat and it is drunk with either hot or cold water so it is good in all seasons. I drink it with hot water but my hubby prefer to drink it cold.

Drinking Vinegar

Can you guess what they are?

Oh well, they are drinking vinegar that I got as a present like Chuseok. If you go to the market, you'll see this drink that the saleslady always endorse and asks the customers to have a taste of this healthy drink.

The taste is not bad but a little bit sour. And that's the vinegar in Pomegranate, blackberry and blueberry flavor. Want some?

Puchinggae and makgeoli

We went to Baegyangsa with my in laws. Because we didn't go inside to see the temple so we just went to the restaurant where there are some chairs and tables outside. My BIL ordered this makgeoli and puchinggae. I tried makgeolli before when i went on a picnic with my co-workers and my boss offered me some. He is my boss so i couldn't refuse it. After drinking a bowl of it, i was suddenly felt dizzy. Since then, i never tried to drink it anymore. hehehehe.. By the way, makgeolli is drunk using bowls.

Me and Hubby doesn't drink so my BIL and his wife drank all the makgeolli. The good thing is, my BIL didn't bring his car so it was okay even when he drank much. And hubby doesn't drink at least he can drive us home. hehehe...

I think i'm lucky to have a guy like my hubby who doesn't like drinking alcohol. At least i have less worries when he drives.

drinks and salad

Sorry guys for not posting here for a long time. I've just got back from my vacation and i couldn't visit this blog of mine during my stay in Thailand. So i'm leaving this pictures of salad and drinks for you which i made before we left. The salad is same as what i make here. I used yoghurt dressing in this salad.

The juice was made up of this healthy drink. I use mineral water when i make this drink and put some milk. Without water and milk, this drink tastes like vinegar.

By the way, i don't know what happened on this food blog of mine, i can't open it. The window just suddenly disappears whenever i try to open it. What's wrong? Any help out there?

strawberry juice

Me and hubby are night owls so it's hard for us to get up early in the morning. Everyday we are always running out of time. If hubby has a little time to have breakfast then i prepare cornflakes and milk but he usually doesn't have time so i prepare fruit juice. It depends on what fruits are available in the season. Now a days, strawberries are cheap so i always have them at home. I always buy a box of strawberries. In this picture, the strawberries are small. It doesn't matter coz i only make them for juice.

I just put 2 bottles of yoghurt (angpang) and blend. No need to put sugar because strawberries are sweet.

tomato juice

Tomatoes are cheap now a days so it's time for hubby to have tomato juice for breakfast. I bought these tomatoes for only $2. These tomatoes are good for making juice because they are sweeter and have less seeds.

I put 2 bottles of angpang (yoghurt) and a little sugar to make juice. Angpang makes the juice more delicious than any other yoghurt brand. And it gives more nutrition than any other yoghurt brand. Well, it's much expensive, of course. 5 bottles for $1. Other yoghurt cost $1 for every 25 or 20 bottles.

yujacha (citron tea)

Yujacha (citron tea) is one of my favorite drinks in winter. Just put 2-3 spoons of yujacha in a cup and pour boiled water. No need to put sugar because it's sweet. I buy mine with honey flavor not sugar. I heard that it's good for colds so i always have this yujacha at home in winter. I saw this in the refrigerator and because it's now summer, i don't think we'll crave for this drink so i use it when i cook meat specially steak.

cornflakes and milk

Hubby and I are night owls. He's always running out of time in the morning so he doesn't have time to eat breakfast. I just give him cornflakes and milk or sometimes fresh fruit juice. We love this almond flavor and because hubby doesn't drink milk so i buy this black soybeans milk.

green tea

Koreans never drink tap water. We have to boil some water and put something on it. I sometimes put dried corn and jujubes but usually, i put green tea. My mother in law sometimes put wheat or tree barks which sometimes she gives us some. She always says that it's good for our health.

My hubby's aunt gave this green tea when we visited her on her birthday. She said it's real and pure green tea from her farm. She sells them but gave us for free of course. You don't believe me if I say that I just sprinkle a little amount of it when i boil water in a big kettle but the water looks dark and tastes green tea.

Just imagine how much i spend for buying green tea, jujubes or dried corn if aunt didn't give us this tea. We drink much water a day. It's true that i boil water everyday in a big kettle.

Well, thanks to aunt.
