Sawoong Creative

I attended a small discussion event that brought topic about Exploring Creativity in Surabaya last week. Surabaya is the city where I live right now and it was such a great event as in the end of the session, Kuncarsono Prasetyo who is the owner of Sawoong Creative merchandise shop has made excellent presentation of how he begun his business with creative positioning brand strategy.

Kuncar was interviewed by Wufi, he said:
"The noble goal indeed is to participate in the movement named Save the National Heritages".

You can read the rest of the interview here: Appreciate Heritages in Everyday Goods with Sawoong.

Exclusively designed, Sawoong products are mostly T-shirts. They are easily recognized, especially with the dominant use of Art Nouveau or sometimes Art Deco design style side by side with old iconic Surabaya building pictures or heritage themed graphics. Other than T-shirts, there are also merchandise such as mugs, postcards, bags, key rings, pins, etc.

Find out more by visiting Sawoong Creative online catalog, or if you get a chance visiting Surabaya city, you can drop by Sawoong Outlet Stores to look for your favorite Sawoong T-shirts or other interesting merchandise.

There are many more to fav, but the Flickr gallery can only shows 18 pictures. For that, I shared some other featured sketches on my personal Tumblr blog: AudeeMirza's Playground under sketch tag.

Enjoy, favorite or comment the Urban Sketchers AUGUST Faves and see you next month ;)

Rui Vieira Photography & Design

Dynamic flow in Simplicity is what his design is. You'll see many of his poster designs are actually amazing composition between highly photography effect and modern typography layering. Nevertheless, he always passionate to snap urban spots and even the multicultural urbanity in it.

A conceptual photograph of his, titled "Communication" is one of my favorite. Smartly taken as a simple daily portrait of how the urbanists are moving time and moving life with a communication tool.

Sometimes, his inspiration comes from cityscape corner or high rise architecture building. The "Linha Tejo" poster design series are displaying architectural element that collaborates carefully-picked typography.

Cultural Touch Inside the Graffiti Walls

More than a week ago, I wrote a guest blog post at InspirationBit.com. That was my very first guest blog post, and I was so happy that Vivien (the author of Inspiration Bit) gave me such a wonderful opportunity to contribute something on her blog.

I've included some photos of Graffiti Walls at my neighborhood, and I think it was a fun small research that I'd like to share with you since generally I believe there are some connections between those graffiti art and the local social culture.

Have a comment on the guest blog post to discuss or just to tell a story about graffiti around your neighborhood if you like :D

Featured Blogspot Graphic Design: THE PUNGEONING

THE PUNGEONING is about Art, Graphic Design, Cultural Criticism, and Psy-Ops.

Designers are seeking inspiration in different kind of ways. Does it always have to be visual experiencing? When you see something unique or when you find an unusual creation then you react to see what you can do about it? What if the inspiration comes from what I call: “Cultural Criticism”.

Lordsomber is the author of THE PUNGEONING . It is a blog, a story telling of your surroundings, a beautifully poetic depiction of cultural criticism into graphic and a journey of moving souls.

Well this designer artist has all the answers in an interesting interview.

Lordsomber, could you first introduce yourself?

Salutations. I am Lordsomber, silent fly on the wall, amnesiac from the future, the sizzle in the brain pan.

Featured Blogspot Graphic Design: THE PUNGEONING

Cultural criticism is your interest for most of the time. Why?

It is a way to observe today’s thought patterns and behaviours in the context of underlying psychohistorical memes, attitudes and actions. The blinders people wear are more often put on by themselves. Pungeoning is about holding up the Mirror of Reality to Man’s Folly.

Collin James De Ruyck's Abstract Paintings

I always fascinate to abstract paintings. I found sort of well mixed medium of abstract paintings collection of Collin James De Ruyck , and I'm also amazed how he lined up the geometric shape and colors to create 3D texture effect. I should call it: "Decorative Abstract Paintings"

Somehow each of them can be part as an interior decoration. His abstract art works are able to bring a boring plan room to a very exciting room filed with great colors and style.

Here a short conversation about his artworks that might give you a clue about his paintings ;).

Collin James De Ruyck's Abstract Paintings

When did you first start painting?

I first started painting in 2003. It was after my x wife moved out and took all the furniture and I had nothing to look at buy bare walls. I was talking with a friend of mine who pushed my to start painting as he told me what I was looking for from art did not really exist, which is the style I currently use.

Who and what were some early influences?

Like I said in the last question, it was a good friend of mine named Rohn who helped me get started at a very tough time in my life.
