Garrosh's End

So there will be no Reader Post this week because Garrosh's end has come out and I have had tons of requests on my take on it. With that in mind this post has an extreme amount of SPOILERS so if you don't want any of those then don't keep reading and then complain about spoilers. So with that in mind here it goes

First off here are the two endings specific to the faction the kill was achieved on

So a few things about this. I am glad with the choice. I think picking a non-orc shows the Horde as accepting of all the races. Also the Horde needs a martial Warchief, and Thrall for all his accomplishments is a diplomat. Vol'jin has been with Thrall the entire time, he rejected an offer by the God King of the Trolls himself to join the Zandalari himself, even when shadows of doubt lingered around him, he stayed loyal to the Horde and what it stood for, even working with the Allliance to preserve what he saw all his Horde, true family.

What is of interest is the random appearance by Gallywix and Sylvanas' rather approach to the whole thing. There is also of not how Jaina is still quite upset and may actually become Sylvanas' mirror on the Alliance. AS Varian and Garrosh used to be.

One of the bug things is Garrosh isn't dead and he is going to have a trial. I assume this will be the lead in to the next expansion as the last time all the leaders got together well Thrall got split into pieces and ended up getting married. So I just have a feeling that something big if not huge is going to happen and that trial, but we will have to wait and see the result.

Overall I think it is a interesting ending. Varian recognizes the Horde is broken, but is not sure if the Alliance is worth the sacrifice in dismantling it, and let's be honest I am pretty sure the Horde leaders would be able to kill the Alliance ones who were there in the room.

So that is it my thoughts, let me know what you think one way or another.

Ask Gauss

Happy Sunday everyone. The day of pancakes and bacon and all that fancy stuff. Any day which starts with bacon is a good day for me. Frankly, any day that has any bacon in general is a good day to me. Now I want some bacon. Anyways, got sidetracked with the thought of bacon. Sunday, what does that mean? Why it means Ask Gauss, of course. You know the post of the week where I answer some questions sent to me throughout the week. So why don't we just get on with it.

Did you see the Siege of Orgrimmar Trailer? What did you think?

First for those who have no seen it.

Now I enjoy these trailers probably more then the next person and I will never forget my disappointment with the 4.4 trailer. There have been some great ones in the past namely the Black Temple, ZA, and Ulduar ones. This though is in my opinion the best they have ever done. It more than any of them gets you pump up to take Garrosh down. Lore wise I am really excited to know what happens at the end of this though. Will he be killed? Will he escape only to become something else? What is the future of The Horde? Who will be Warchief? So many questions and I cannot wait to find out.

Do you plan of playing Saints Row 4?

Honestly I don't know. I may pick it up eventually but overall I have played the series but never been a huge fan. I have heard a lot of great things about it. Although I have seen some claims that it could be up there with The Last of Us for game of the year. That I think may be going too far. Now yes I haven't played the game, but a game like The Last of Us doesn't come around very often at all. So that's not taking anything away from SR4 just that I pretty much know they are not on the same scale.

Game you will never play?

Any game which is an Xbox exclusive.

There you have it this week's questions answered. Hope you all got something out of it. Keep sending in your questions every week I am always happy to answer them here or with the return email.

Garrosh's Death Revisted

So it was some time ago  I did a post around when Garrosh was first announced as going to be the final boss of the expansion. If you never read it the post you can catch up by clicking this. The Seige of Orgrimmar

Anyways, at the time I was slightly pissed off in the way they were killing off Garrosh. How they developed his character so much and liked or hated the guy you had to realize the time and effort, which went into it. Also I just wasn't a fan of him just being corrupted and done with it. It had been done before Deathwing was the prime example of it, and it all just agrivated me even more. So much so WoW Insider featured me with this post Does Garrosh Hellscream Deserve to Die?

Now time has passed and I have had a little time to think about this whole thing and I believe I may have changed my mind after looking deep within everything. I give you my thoughts

When Garrosh Hellscream was first introduced he was an orc without any purpose, plagued by the sins of his father made. Fear, doubt, anger, hatred, violence, and despair were all bottled up into the young Orc's head. This was all he since he was a child. What he lived with every single day. That was until hope came along and liberated Garrosh from all of this negativity. Now filled with pride, he did not just want to make his father proud. No, that would not be good enough. He also wanted to prove to the Horde itself he too could live up to the name "Hellscream".

As we went into Northrend for the campaign against the Lich King, Garrosh achieved skills of leadership along with the ability needed to inspire his troops. Thrall, thinking Garrosh now had enough experience, and the obvious fact he was a Hellscream, gave the Warchief mantel to an Orc who was still compliant.

In Cataclysm Garrosh truly started to achieve the characteristics of a true leader. I went into these in detail in my previous post but as a quick summary. In Stonetalon Mountains he learned the lesson of mercy, and in the Twilight Highlands he learnt how to properly negotiate.

Within the books after the Cataclysm, Garrosh was being barraged with idea after idea after idea. Not just that, but ever since he was first introduced it's been fairly obvious that doubt has been his largest issue. Even at his highest moment when Thrall was giving him the mantel of Warchief this came through.

Garrosh always has doubts he will ever live up to the name Hellscream name and because of that his Pride shadows over it. Going into Mists, Garrosh has literally been thrown into the maw of madness. His own negative emotions are the very thing which drove him down the path he is on.

I think Blizzard cleverly had the Sha's embodiment be Doubt, Fear, etc. because these are all the exact emotions which have been in Garrosh ever since we first met him when we stepped into Nagrand. So I have now changed my mind since looking back the seeds for his descent were planted when he was first introduced.

The Siege Of Orgrimmar

So I have read the information, and I have sat and thought about it and my first thoughts are the same as they are now. This is wrong. I know why they are doing it, but in the terms of what they were doing with Garrosh and what he represents I cannot believe they are going in this direction.

"Beat them back! Remind these vermin what it means to assault the Horde! Lok'tar ogar!"

Garrosh is supposed to be hot headed and he is supposed to be militaristic. Does that mean that he needs to be killed and removed? The reason which has been given is he has become corrupted, which to me is the absolute worst thing possible lore wise. Garrosh is supposed to be everything his Father was, but the difference is he knows what happened to his father. Garrosh the knows the highs and the lows of his Father. Garrosh is the representation of everything, which existed in the Old Horde except for the demon corruption. He is essential Orgim Doomhammer incarnate. He knows respect, he knows honor.

"Have you given any thought to what this means, Sylvanas? What difference is there between you and the Lich King now?"

Does everyone forget what happened when he found out the truth about Cairne? Yes, he killed him, but not in a malicious way, he did so to protect his honor and prove he was capable of leading the Horde, as Thrall wished. He won unfairly, but again nothing of his doing, and he corrected that wrong. Even with Baine. We saw during Cataclysm that Garrosh was growing as a leader. He was adamant about the use of demon powers, he was wise when he spoke to Sylvanas in Silverpine, he was critical in Stonetalon, and most importantly he learned much along the way.

"It has come to my attention that you have deprived me of a rightful kill. Cairne Bloodhoof was a hero to the Horde and an honorable member of a usually honorable race. It is with disgust and anger that I discover you have caused me to bring about his death through accidental treachery. Such tactics may work well for your renegade, honorless tribe and Alliance scum, but I despise them. It was my wish to fight Cairne fairly, and win or lose by my own skill or lack of it. Now I shall never know, and the cry of traitor will dog my steps until such time as I can sport your head on a pike and point to you as the real traitor. You are on your own, Magatha, as friendless and disliked as you have ever been. Perhaps more. Enjoy your loneliness."

Garrosh may not be the perfect Warchief, but he is the one who has learned from the good and the bad. They would ruin this character by corrupting him? That is beyond the worst story arc in the history of Warcraft. Why put in all the effort? Show us he is growing, show us he is becoming the leader Thrall knew he could be only to destroy everything you created? It's dumb, it's stupid, it's completely retarded. If this is all an elaborate plan to get Thrall back as Warchief I really don't know what to say. The way in which Garrosh's character has developed I wouldn't be surprised if he stepped down and graciously gave it to Thrall. Out of respect. This was the way it was supposed to be in the first place when Thrall went away, why change it now?

"I will not fail you, Warchief. I will lead as well as I can, and I will consult with the advisors you suggest. I know what a tremendous honor you do me, and I will strive to be worthy of it."

If this is all some sort of plan to blame someone for Warmongering then congrats for ruining one of the greatest current Lore Characters in Warcraft in the process. Why don't we just bring Arthas back to life and have him marry Jaina and Varian will be the best man all taking place in the middle of Undercity. Does that sound dumb? Well in my opinion that makes more sense they assaulting Orgrimmar to remove a corrupted Garrosh from power. I know it is probably over and done with, and know it cannot change, but I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with it entirely.

"I learned much about the Horde in that time. While there, a wise old war hero told me something that I would carry with me forever... Honor," Krom'gar, No matter how dire the battle... never forsake it."
