Let Them Eat Cake

Let Them Eat Cake

Who can resist a strawberry cake?

A friend of mine gave me some fotos of cakes and
told me to whip her up some birthday cards.
I cut the cakes out and glued them onto
painted, stamped and collaged backgrounds.
More paint was added as well as fibers.

I think these cakes deserve to be placed on their
swirl, punched out pedestals,,,,don´t you?

Now if I could only get a taste.

Wednesday Stamper is showing a sumptuous array of cakes.
The good news is... you won´t gain a pound.

Springtime in January

SPRING
I feel like I am definitely jumping the gun on the seasons here.
I know a lot of our snow melted last weekend but
that doesn´t mean it´s spring.
These two tags came about because a bunch of my painting
friends and I are taking one of our friends out for a
surprise birthday dinner to a restaurant called
The Maganolia. I was in charge of making the card.
The photos came from a friend. I cut out the magnolias
and collaged them onto a handpainted background.
Added a strip of fabric along the top edge and finished
it off with a few stamps, papers and ribbons.

Gabi´s Tag
This is the tag we will give Gabi.
Here I added the knife, spoon and fork because on the back
it says,,,,one free dinner at The Magnolia.
Gabi loves to knit so I added and over abundance of fibers.
She can later use this as a bookmark and have a little
keepsake from all of us for her birthday in 2011.
This dinner came at the right time as these tags
fit right in over at Tag Tuesday with a bit of fabric.
Also at Wednesday Stamper where the theme is music.
Even at Take a Word where everything is beautiful.
And last but not least,,,Theme Thursday featuring spring.

Dream

Dare to Dream
I made three cards using up some leftover
papers from a bookbinding project.

I used a piece of handmade natural fiber paper
as a base and placed embossed wildflower
motifs on top.

The theme this week at Wednesday Stampers
is Dream Big and Gingersnap Creations had a
good idea to use up leftover paper...go have
a look.

Geisha ATC

Geishas ATC

This ATC has a double photo transfer of two different Geisha fotos. I used gel medium on each foto and after both transfers were finished I used gel medium to glue them together. I guess you could say this is the "old fashioned" way of producing layers. The double transfer was then glued onto some of my background paper.

Asia is the theme at Wednesday Stamper this week....go have a look.

Not Just Another Pretty Face

"Beauty is not in the face....beauty is a light in the heart."
K. Gibran

A tag bookmark with one of the pretty faces from the stamp world. She is stamped onto
some of my watercolor paper which I also stamped with leaves, swirls and circles.

My wavy edge cut out again,,,,this is a scrap from one of my book binding projects.

Chase Life

"Chase Life"
A sprig of clover colored with watercolor crayons and sprayed with water.
For the background I used a piece of easy foam which I first pressed into a brick wall
and transferred onto watercolor paper with orchid ink. A few diamond holes were punched and a purple string threaded through two of them. Some copper paint was splattered and then backed onto black card stock and edged with copper and black ink.
Since everyone at Wednesday Stamper is in love with purple this week ,,,,I thought I would
add this to their collection.

Wednesday`s Handbound Book

I never leave home without my sketchbook.
This time it´s a blue one.
The edges of the book block were stippled with light blue ink.
Three ribbons were attached as bookmarks.
The cover paper was stamped with gesso for a resist effect that you see with the large white stars. After that was dry.... I painted the paper with acrylics and stamped some smaller stars. Once the book boards were covered.... I added the small quote made of the same painted paper.

A closer look at the cover paper and my favorite wave cut spine cloth.

"Art is just another way of keeping a diary."

Wednesday Stamper is featuring everything to do with Books this week.....go have a look.
