Materials that I used:
1 old wool sweater, washed and dried to felt or shrink
1 old plastic pumpkin, purchased at a thrift store
2 wool flowers, premade and purchased at JoAnn's, Optional
Jute
Burlap for leaves
1 dowel rod
Let's get started...
1) Pumpkin
Purchased at a thrift store |
2) Sweater
Also purchased at a thrift store |
3) Cut Sweater
Measure around pumpkin and cut wool sweater so that it will fit |
4) Sew Sweater
Sew the only one side seam together and gather stitch top and bottom |
5) Place Pumpkin Inside
Place pumpkin inside sewn sweather piece |
6) Sew Sweater Closed
Gather and stitch closed at top and bottom, stem will be exposed |
7) Jute Wrap Pumpkin Stem
Using hot glue, jute wrap stem of pumpkin and overlap onto sweater. Don't be perfect on this, because you will be doing a second layer of jute wrapping later |
8) Make Jute Curls
Using a wooden dowel, wrap wet jute over dowel and blow dry with a blowdryer. This will make the curls and they will hold their shape |
9) Sew on Flower Embellishments
If you are going to add embillishments, this is the time to stitch them on |
10) Cut out Leaf shapes out of Burlap
I cut random leaf shapes out of burlap then used a bead of hot glue to keep them from fraying. Just let the bead of hot glue dry. I made three of these |
11) Hot Glue leaves and curls into place...And Done!
