Old Settee Breathes New Life!

You probably didn't even miss me, but we have been gone to Vegas Baby!

If you are ever going and can catch a show, you should see Terry Fator! He won America's Got Talent in 2008 and puts on a really well done and funny show.

On with the Settee project...

My Favorite Projects of 2011

I really can't believe how many projects that I completed in 2011, mostly because of this blog. I feel the need to continually show you something new and different that I have made or transformed. Later, you can check out my Before & Afters tab at the top of my blog page.

I decided to look back at what I have done, and pick my 12 favorite ones and tell you why...in no particular order.

Here we go...
1. This vintage dress form is a favorite because I have wanted one for so long. I found it unexpectedly for $2.50 at a garage sale. I then couldn't leave well enough alone and decoupaged it in book pages. It's a joy for me to look at and lives in my master bedroom.

A Clients Before and Afters

I just couldn't wait to share with you a couple of projects that I did today. I am working with a client on their new home. I am shopping for furniture, art, lamps and decor. It is all consuming and I can't believe the amount of time it takes to find things for their home. I guess if there were more than just me doing it, it wouldn't take as much time. I then am doing all the sewing, painting and decorating. I guess you can call me a one stop gal.

White Bookcase Breathes New Life!

I found a Diamond In The Rough!

It was a vintage bookcase with bad bleed-through! It cost $35 and included the wood shelves, door and some new, unused glass shelves. It needed a lot of love. The lady had misplaced the original hardware, so I will have to find some replacements.

What do you do when you have bleed-through of the stained wood or knot holes through the paint? You seal the whole piece with two coats of Minwax Polycrylic. This will stop any bleed-through to the surface of the new paint.  Whoever owned this before didn't know this. I continued on and painted the bookcase white with two more coats of latex.
