Wow this is astonishing! A true rarity it seemed and yet the quality now is astounding*. That and some folks doing the research on who exactly played on these sets makes this an essential listen and peruse for all the Jack Bruce fans out there. Thanks so much.
ReplyDelete*I know I am like a stuck record but how do these folks find such clean recordings of this stuff from the sixties to rare as rocking horse poo sessions like this are now breathtaking in their quality. This is frankly just staggering . . . . . I'll shut up now!
@swappers...Not sure where or when I found this. I didn't trust the notes and spent at least a half hour looking for info on the band "Head". Found looks of porn and that's about it. : ))
DeleteThere is a YouTube 'soundie' of the 3rd (self-released, 1977) Head album, "Blackpool Cool" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n43RpLg6N2Q
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, info is included in the obituaries of Bill Kyle - latterly impresario of Edinburgh's Jazz Bar - (eg) https://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/14843002.obituary-bill-kyle-musician-promoter-and-one-of-the-leading-figures-in-scottish-jazz/
Gordon Cruickshank may already have been BBC R Scotland's jazz presenter by the time of this gig.
@Anon...Thanks for the info!
