A Very Jaguar Christmas and What's Coming Up Next!
Demetria is feeling blue, but she and Tammy, Everett’s sister, get together for drinks and movies, but when one of the ladies drops a glass on the floor, Everett comes over to ensure the two of them are okay. So much for the start of his vacation. But he’s fine with it, as long as it affords him the chance to see Demetria again. Little does he know, the next morning when he gets a call from his mother at her jaguar daycare, their whole jaguar shifter world will change forever and he and Demetria will be given the assignment that will challenge them to the end in A Very Jaguar Christmas.
Excerpt from A Very Jaguar Christmas
He checked again on Demetria, but she hadn’t moved, so he went into the kitchen to begin Operation: Cleanup.Even though he would have been at home still playing his game and killing the dragons plaguing their world, he was glad to be here as a brother, a friend, and a Golden Claw agent, whose mission was to take care of jaguars in need. Still, he’d never believed he would be serving as a maid.
He was nearly done mopping the floor when he saw something move out of the corner of his eye and turned to look. Demetria was leaning against the wall next to the china cabinet, looking half asleep, her dark hair in curls about her shoulders.
“Are you okay? Do you need something to help settle a hangover?” he asked, continuing to mop the floor.
She snorted. “What are you doing?” Her words were still fuzzy.
“Cleaning up after the party and ensuring Tammy gets to work tomorrow. You don’t want to see Martin when he gets a call that one of his trainers didn’t show up first thing in the morning. Or hear how upset David would be if he learns he had to be out training all night and his mate doesn’t come into work the next morning to teach. She had just…vanished.”
Demetria sighed. “Got it.”
“Why don’t you get some sleep, if you can? I’ll leave first thing in the morning.”
She nodded and turned, and nearly fell.
He sighed, set the mop against the counter, and stalked toward her. She held up her hand to ward him off. “I can do it.”
“Yeah, and you’ll make it by the time I leave in the morning.” He gently scooped her up in his arms, feeling way too much like he was taking her to his bed, and carried her down the hall to the room she indicated was her bedroom, putting her in her own bed. He covered her up, and, well hell, kissed her cheek. Which is what he had wanted to do before they ended their time together last night. Well, kiss her lips, hug her, more.
Her eyes widened a little, he smiled, and said good night. Then he went back to his maid duties.
When he was done, he removed his clothes except for his boxer briefs and stretched out on the couch, covering himself with the afghan, wrapping himself in Demetria’s scent, and thinking this was as close as he might ever get to heaven.

Killer Perspective
As a writer, I live in the world of "things are not always as they seem." It's standard operating procedure for those who make things up as a living, so there are some conversations that make perfect sense to me that make no sense to others, or, worse, send a different message than intended. However, these can be good for helping people gain a sense of perspective.
For example, I had lunch the other day with a couple of friends, one a writer and one a fairly normal person (ha ha). My writer friend, whose specialty is thrillers, has been married for 25 years this last Saturday. My non-writer friend, whose specialty is stained-glass and swing dancing, has been married for 19 years. Each is happy in her life, but they way she expresses it is completely and utterly different, and, for me, quite entertaining.
Somehow the conversation--perhaps it was the red wine or maybe the trout sandwich--turned to our spouses and how we knew they were the "one," or at least not "one of the 'not the ones'." My non-writer friend wove a lovely tale of a two people caught up in a flurry of passion, separated by jobs in different parts of the US, who found that their long distance romance struggled under the weight of individual responsibilities to their families and to their individual dreams of success. She wanted to be a rock star accountant to prove to her family that their "baby" could make it on her own; he wanted to make it in graphic design because of his passion for art and technology. They dated all through college and decided to let fate guide them as they applied for jobs during that ever so important senior year. Those "dream" jobs took them miles apart.
Fast forward six months and their relationship is feeling the strain, as do most long distance connections. Like many couples, the came to the conclusion that being so far apart had helped them discover that maybe their relationship wasn't meant to endure, and they decided to break it off. After many tears, they both choose to move on with their lives...alone.
Fast forward another six months. All is going well with his job, although something seems to be missing. All is also going well with her job, although something for her is also missing. They dated others, trying to move forward with their lives based on their belief that their love for each other wasn't strong enough to sustain a long distance relationship. They were living the dream, but they were both miserable.
Then along comes election day, which was the day that he first kissed her outside of their polling precinct years before. Apparently, that moment of nostalgia was overwhelming for both of them (there is nothing like a presidential election to get the ol' romantic juices flowing). He called her, just wanting to hear her voice, and she had already texted him but he hadn't seen it before he called. Their conversation went something like this:
HIM: Are you dating anyone?
HER: No, are you?
HIM: No.
BOTH AT THE SAME TIME: I'll move!
So they had both decided that they'd give up their jobs to move to where they other person was, and that was how they knew they wanted to be together. In the end, the both decided to quit their jobs to find one in a completely different city they had both decided on, and it worked out. That's how my friend explained how they got together, and I have to admit, it got me teary-eyed. So then I tell my story, which you've all heard, and then my other friend tells how she knew her husband was the guy she'd spend the rest of her life with. In short...
"I never once tried to come up with a way to kill him."
Now, I realize this might seem odd to you, but to me, it made perfect sense. My writer friend writes thrillers and spends a lot of time plotting out heinous crimes and all kinds of mystery stuff, and she often--because she's sassy--includes people she knows as her characters. To date, in her novels she's killed off several people who, in real life, had offended her. It's cathartic, she says. However, not once did it--or has it--crossed her mind to try to find a way to off her spouse. My non-writer friend sat there staring and then gulped some of her wine. Not quite the response she was expecting, I guess.
In any case, we had a great lunch and I was reminded of how, sometimes, different perspectives can expand your world, or at least remind you to be more cautious around thriller writers. Happy Reading!

I love life and writing is like breathing to me.
You Know Know You Need Rain When...
Everywhere you go–the grocery store, the post office, the
bank–everyone’s talking about it. The woman behind me in line at the
grocery store said she’d just texted her husband: It’s going to rain!
Yep. It wasn’t supposed to until Sat night, so I looked at the forecast and it changed it’s mind and said this morning at 4 am. Well, it rained at 7 am. And you know what? I don’t care! Just as long as we get it. But no flooding. Thank you very much. We have heavy thunderstorms starting in 15 mins, and it was nice out, cool even, so I was out pulling grass in the light rain. Yes!
We’re supposed to have rain for around ten days. Yay! But please don’t flood.
Do you see the airliner next to that cloud? That shows just how big that cloud is.
This is an anvil cloud. I kept trying to get around to get a better angle of the clouds, but the houses were in the way. I considered going around to take a picture around the block, lightning was flashing and it can strike from 10 miles away, so I thought better of it.
So the houses just needed to be moved. But on the other hand, I think it’s kind of interesting. Like the tip of the iceberg. Not knowing what lays beyond. The mystery. And as you can see, the system started out at the last picture shown, and then ended up in the massive one way above the homes.
Today, it’s just gray. But that’s okay. Because rain is coming! And I’m 2,000 ahead on word count again! And I have 2 bears orders to get out. And more critiques to do. And…I need to get to work!
Have a wonderful day! It’s cooler here!!! Woohoo!

One of those Days....
I couldn’t sleep last night. I ended up with Malware on my Facebook
and I can’t access it now. So I got up at 3 am to try and figure it out
again. Changed password, used CCleaner, tried different browser, updated
my Windows, and….had to restart the computer. Then, can’t get my
computer started now.
So it’s been one of those mornings. I’m on my laptop, and I’ve sent an emergency message to my daughter to tell my SIL I need help! It’s Mother’s Day weekend. So it seems appropriate. Doesn’t it?
*sigh* I really have been trying to get my writing done. I hate it when I can’t start my computer, can’t access accounts I need to access and of course the puppies decided they had to go out at 5:30.
So I’m wearing my purple wolf t-shirt while writing this blog, ignoring the puppies that have been telling me for that last hour and a half that is time for their breakfast even though it is not.
And dreaming of the wolf…..
I finally got my butterfly/hummingbird plants in and I can’t wait until they start blooming. But they’re just little itty bitty things, and first I have to make sure my goats don’t eat them.
What? You didn’t know I have goats?
Yep, they might not look like goats, but their looks can be deceptive.
Have a super great day!!
I’m going to write no matter the obstacles in my way!!! Oh, and I have 3 more butterfly plants to put out too. Have a great one!

A Twist of Fate
I know that divorce is probably not the most inviting topic for a romance blog; however, many romances center around characters who have experienced this kind of traumatic life change, so I thought that Amy Koko's There's Been a Change of Plans would be something of interest. She's an author with my current publisher, and when I read her memoir, I couldn't put it down. It made me laugh, and it made me think. It's both funny and poignant, and she doesn't hold back on the topics of divorce, mid-life, and, most importantly, finding new love after finding oneself.
Next week I'll hopefully be able to post an interview with Amy here. Until then, check out the description below of her real-life tale of a woman who discovered no matter how much she tried to control her future, Life had its own plans. Happy Reading!
Blogger Amy Koko bears her soul in her witty, bittersweet memoir, There's Been A Change of Plans: Divorce, Dating & Delinquents in Mid-life. Expecting a trip to Italy, Koko is blind-sided by her husband’s confession that he’s been putting his shoes under a much younger and prettier woman's bed. After twenty-seven years of marriage and four children, she faces the unimaginable: her life as she knows it is unraveling around her and her family’s future is anything but certain.
In the literary tradition of Nora Ephron's Heartburn and Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened, Koko’s memoir details her journey from hearing the news that her husband is in love with a blonde, thirty-something Swiss pastry chef to trying everything from thong underwear to a mini-facelift to save her marriage, only to see it die in the parking lot of gas station.
With incredible honesty and humor, Koko takes the reader on a wild ride through the tough, emotional times of starting over through divorce, mid-life, finding a job, and Internet dating, all the while trying to keep her four teenagers out of jail.
There’s been a change of plans, and that’s just the beginning.

Wanna Get Into Some Double Trouble?
Last week I posted about Cat Cervantes' book, Trouble Magnet, in which Regina "Finn" Finnegan finds herself thrust into the world of being a CIA operative whether she's ready or not. This week Double Trouble, the latest addition to the series, is now available. If you like a little romance, a lot of action, and a heroine whose resourcefulness matches MacGyver's, give it a try. The description is below:
If trouble’s in town, it not only finds Regina “Finn” Finnegan, it’s usually parked on her couch having a beer and pizza.
Despite her most recent success in saving the world, the CIA wants their barely trained agent to sit at a desk with her hands clasped and feet on the floor until they dole out boring training exercises to get her up to speed. However, when her superior sends her on a routine courier assignment, something goes terribly wrong and it becomes a top priority exfiltration mission to escape Russian intelligence, the mafia and the police. Even a vacation in Cancun needs a seat belt when Finn’s abducted by a drug gang and has to race through the jungle with a Senator from Ohio who hasn’t seen a gym since cassette tapes and sweatbands.
With a Mad Hatter taxi driver, Goth anarchists, mom’s fifty-year birthday party, a pack of monkeys and a herd of jumping spiders, Finn reaches her wits end just to survive. Add one hot NSA operative vying for her attention and she’s got more action than a Bruce Willis movie.
Double the adventure. Double the fun.
Double Trouble.
Happy Reading!

Guest: Sarah Hoss and New Release, Highland Savior + Giveaway!
Welcome, Sarah! Congratulations on your new release! Please tell us about your writing.
I write contemporary romance novellas and my novels are historical paranormal romance. Why the two different genres you ask? Well, I hadn’t intended it to be that way. I began writing historical paranormal romance because I love time travel and going into the past. I enjoy the research involved. If you take a person from the future and place them in the past or vice versa, I find it interesting on how they would interact with the people, adapt to their surroundings, and try to make a life for themselves in a place so foreign to them. I like how it brings out their true nature.
My contemporary novellas began with one called Heaven Sent. I began writing it for a contest and from there, it became published. I decided then to continue to write them. One- because it gives my readers another genre to read plus it might bring in new readers who may not like the other genre. Two- I can put out the novellas in between the novels so that everyone has something to read while they are waiting.
You would think contemporary romance would be fairly easy to write considering we live in the here and now, but that’s not always the case. Because we live in this time, it can be harder to impress the reader. No matter the genre, no matter the theme, we authors put our hearts in every book.
I want to thank the ladies here for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to speak and meet new people.
Thank you so much for being our guest today, Sarah!

Highland Savior
Two
Lifetimes – Two Hearts – One future, if they can only survive the past.
Hamish
Macpherson is surrounded by turmoil: an arsonist is on the loose, he’s in the
middle of a feud with a local clansman, and just as he’s trying to save his
sister from a burning cottage, he appears in the middle of a foreign living
room three hundred years past his own time.
Gillian
Meadows thinks she’s self-sufficient and can handle anything until she
witnesses a murder in the alley next to an Olde City tavern. In a desperate run
to escape being the next victim, she stumbles into a wiccan store and accepts
the help of the shop owner. Little does she know that one mis-spoken word of a
simple incantation can change everything.
Neither
world is safe, but Hamish can better protect Gillian if he returns to his own
time. Gillian has no choice but to go with him if she wants to escape the
danger closing in. Little do they know that his past could be the biggest
threat of all to their future.

Excerpt!
Loud
shouts grabbed her attention. She stared forward, trying to ignore the
fighting. A woman’s scream echoed from the alleyway, sending a shiver up her
back, making the hair at the nape of her neck stand up.
The
man yelled on the top of his lungs, something about her never doing it again.
How he trusted her and he was a fool, that all women were the same. The crying
woman pleaded.
Gillian
stopped and searched the streets in both directions, praying the cab would come
soon. She heard a slap, then another. She would have to cross the alley to get
back to the bar and she stopped, not sure what to do. She had no desire to be
stuck outside, listening to a man beat his girlfriend. Once inside the bar, she
could tell someone and they could come and help her. Rat bastard deserved a little taste of what he was dishing out.
Her
lips puckered and she blew out a long silent breath, trying desperately to
steady her nerves. She walked on her tip toes, slowly approaching the alley.
Her heart raced. Silently, she said a prayer asking to not be seen. Panic
coursed through her veins like ice and she shivered.
She
stood immobile with her toes touching the edge of the alley as she listened to
the man’s degrading words. The woman’s sobbing gripped her heart and squeezed.
She should do something, but what? She was no match against the brute. She had
to get into the bar. The safest route
was to cross the street, walk down a block, then cross back over to the bar.
The fastest, was to cross the alley.
Staring
straight ahead, she made it halfway across when a gunshot pierced the night air
and broke her resolve. She stopped, covered her ears and bowed her head.
Instinct told her to run but she couldn’t help but peek down the alley. The
woman slid to the ground and fell hard on the cement. She didn’t move. Gillian willed
her feet to go, but they had a mind of their own. The man stood still as he
watched the woman collapse, the gun held tight in his hand at his side.
Gillian’s entire body shook and she dropped her purse.
She
screamed, then bit down on her fist to stifle the sound. The man turned toward
her. Time seemed to slow down.
The
lighting wasn’t the best and she couldn’t make out a lot of details, but he was
tall.
He
stepped toward her as she unconsciously took a step back, kicking her purse,
and she bent over to pick it up. She turned to run, then her heel caught in the
sewer grate, causing her to fall and lose her shoe. She was vaguely aware of a
plastic bag as it blew down the street like tumbleweed. A street lamp flashed
on and off at the corner. Faint music played from within the tavern. She was
aware of the searing pain that shot through her knee and elbow and the
overwhelming desire to get up and run into the bar. She scrambled to her feet,
stumbling awkwardly with only one heel.
Before
she’d taken two steps, he reached her and grabbed her arm. “Come here, bitch.”
His words came out in a tone just above a whisper. It was creepy and grated
against her nerves. He pulled her back into the edge of the alley.
Gillian
was frozen in place. All of his attention stayed focused on her. The gun was
still in his hand. She willed her mind to work and tried to slow her breathing
before she hyperventilated. She needed to come up with a plan for escape. She
turned quickly to look out into the street. People came in and out of the bar
all the time, why didn’t someone come now? There were no cars, no nothing. Was
the night conspiring against her?
He
grabbed her by the arms, forcefully pulling her against his chest. She
struggled but he was too strong.
“Let
me go!” she screamed.
“You
saw, didn’t you, blackbird?” His hot breath stung her ear. It reeked of whisky.
Bile rose in her throat as he fisted his hand into her hair and forced her to
stare at him.
She
swallowed. “No, sir. I swear I didn’t.” Tears danced in her lashes, then fell
down her cheeks at the pain of her hair being pulled.
“Bullshit.”
Spittle
flew against her face as he spat his angry words. A car roared around the
corner and she stole a glance. Her taxi. Here was her chance to get away before
this turned uglier than it already was.
After
sucking in a breath of courage, she yelled, “Go to hell!” then brought her knee
up hard against his crotch, dropping him to the ground. His ring caught in her
hair as he grabbed his injured manhood, causing her to jerk backward for a
second. She spun on her feet, tearing her panty hose and ran for the taxi.
A
gunshot echoed in the night for a second time. The bullet hit the decorative
street lamp above her head, making a funny tinging noise. She reached the car
just as another shot rang through the air, striking the back window of the car.
Glass shattered and she ducked down into the seat.
“Drive
me to Bradford Place Apartments,” she hollered as the driver was already
putting the car into gear. As he dialed 911, she clutched her purse to her
chest and cried. All she wanted to do was lock herself away in her apartment
forever.
The
cab sped away as the words of the man trailed her. “I will find you!”

Book Four: "Tempted by a Highland Moon"
I'd like to tell you a bit about the fourth book in my Highland Moon Series,"Tempted by a Highland Moon." Those of you who have already read the first three books have more than likely guessed that this one is Duncan's story. Since the book is a work in progress, I don't yet have a cover, but I can certainly tell you a few things about him.
Duncan MacDonell is quite a handsome Highlander, with dark brown hair, and compelling brown eyes. He is taller than most men, and he loves to eat, but carries nothing on his muscular frame but solid muscle. And as his best friends, Kade, Galen, and Cin will tell you, they can always count on Duncan in a fight.
Kalie, the beautiful dark-haired heroine, and Duncan, meet when he saves her from being trampled by a horse and rider. Later he is asked by the earl, his sister's husband, to escort her into the Highlands to the castle of her betrothed. Along the way, an intense attraction developes between the two that neither of them can deny.
Here is an excerpt from "Tempted by a Highland Moon:"

Kalie
smiled. "Once again you have come to my aid. Much thanks."
Duncan's
heart danced in his chest, as he busied himself with the saddle. "You are
most welcome, my lady. Come, we must go." He lifted her onto the horse,
the heat of her skin burning his hands through the thin smock. He blew out a
breath, then swung up behind her, wrapping his plaid about them both.
After
a few minutes, her shivering ceased, and she settled back against his chest,
deep in slumber. Her womanly hips pressed between his thighs were causing
Duncan a great deal of discomfort. He groaned, then shifted her in his arms. No
use. He would just have to bear it.
Kalie
opened her eyes and blinked. Duncan's
arm was wrapped about her waist, and the appealing warmth of his muscular body
clung to her like a thick blanket. She should let him ken she was awake, but
then he would release her, and she didnae wish him to. Not yet. She breathed in
his male scent, listened to the beat of his heart, the song he was softly
humming, realizing she would never want any man but him. But that
could never be, for she was already betrothed. She
swallowed back her emotion, and blinked away her tears
I hope you enjoyed hearing about Duncan's and Kalie's story!

Chasing a Highland Moon: Book 3 of The Highland Moon Series
Scotland's history, foods, customs, dress, etc, are woven
throughout my Highland Moon Series, and I hope I've succeeded in showing my readers a wee bit of Scotland's past.
My new release, "Chasing a Highland Moon"
book 3, is the story of the handsome Laird of Dunvegan Castle, Cinead MacLeod, or "Cin" for short, and Lady Claire Cameron. Claire is posing as a servant called Jenny, at Dunvegan and the attraction between the two is undeniable. Here is an excerpt from
"Chasing a Highland Moon":
The
following morning, balancing a stack of platters from the morning meal, Claire left
the great hall and headed for the stairs leading down to the kitchen. On the
landing, a movement outside the window caught her eye and she stopped to look.
Cin
led his horse out of the stables, and swung onto his back, then rode out across
the frosty moor. The wind whipped the horse's mane and Cin's long hair about,
he and the animal seemingly one, as Cin urged him faster and faster. The sight near
stole her breath away. How could she bear to never see him again? Tears welled
up in her eyes, and she quickly wiped them away.
"He's
a bonny lad, to be sure," Mistress Murray said from behind Claire,
startling her.
She
turned around to find an odd smile on the woman's face as she looked out the
window past Claire.
"Aye,"
she whispered, heat rising in her face at being caught spying on the laird. She
hurried down the stairs with the platters.
A
short while later, Claire was on her way back from taking two buckets of
leavings to the midden pile near the stables, when Cin returned from his ride. He
saw her, and a grin spread across his face, lifting her spirits as always.
He
drew his horse up a few feet away. "Morn, Jenny."
His
handsome smile was contagious. "Morn, laird," Claire said, with a
smile of her own. Her gaze traveled over the horse. "He's beautiful."
She took a couple of steps toward the stallion, but stopped when he whinnied
and tossed his massive head.
"Gabh socair. Calm yourself." He
patted the horse's thick neck. "The wee lass means you no
harm," he said,
his eyes never leaving her face. "You may touch him, if you wish."
Claire
stepped closer and gently stroked the horse's velvety nose. "Ye're a
handsome lad, Shadowmere."
"You
ken his name." The fact that she did both surprised and pleased him.
"When
I first arrived here, I was near the stables when ye rode out. I asked Jamie,
the stable lad, what the horse was called."
"I
see," he said, watching her delicate fingers stroke the horse, aching for
her touch upon his own skin. "Do you wish a ride?"
She
shook her head. "Oh, I cannae, m'laird." Her eyes were bright with
excitement.
"Of
course you can."
"What
about Mistress Murray? She will skin me alive for neglecting my duties."
"Let
me handle Mistress Murray." He leaned over and held out his arms. "Grab
hold of my wrists."
She
did as he asked and he pulled her into the saddle. She settled her hips between
his thighs, igniting a flame of desire. He slipped an arm around her small waist,
and pointed the horse once again in the direction of the moor.
Jenny
held onto the saddle with both hands, as they raced across the frozen ground,
her laughter filling his heart to near bursting with joy.
He
swallowed hard and drew her back against his chest, savoring the intoxicating
feel of her in his arms. "I want to show you something." He turned
the horse and they raced along the cliffs high above the sea. Cin brought
Shadowmere to a stop a few feet from the edge. This was the place where he had sought
solstice as a child, and still did at times. He did not know why he wanted
Jenny to see it, but he did.
"Oh,
Cin." His name fell from her lips in a breathless whisper, and his heart
skipped a beat.
"'Tis so
beautiful," she said, her gaze on the scene before her. "I could stay
here for the remainder of my days and never tire of looking at the mountains
and sea before me."
Her
words pleased him, filled an empty place in his soul. He slipped his finger
beneath her chin and tilted her face toward his, then he kissed her, kissed her
in a way he had never kissed a woman—with love. Cin had finally admitted it to
himself. He was in love with Jenny.
Her
lips parted and he growled against her mouth. Cin tasted her, feeding a hunger
that, until Jenny came along, he had not even known existed. He lifted his head
and looked into her dark eyes, surprised by the play of emotion he saw there. "I
care for you, Jenny, and want you more than I have ever wanted anything."
He
swallowed hard, and she realized how difficult it had been for him to expose himself
to her in such an open manner. Before, when he had kissed her, she had fled.
This time, she would not. "Then ye shall have me," she whispered.
He
kissed her again, then turned the horse toward Dunvegan. "Tonight, I will
come for you." He kissed the top of her head.
I hope you've enjoyed reading about my new release!

Need vs Want
Have you ever been pulled and tugged and pushed to fill a want when
you know you have other needs you need to fulfill first?
Like…obligations?
I am behind on word count. It’s a need. I need to get 5700 words done today on She-Wolf. I need to work on a bear and get it finished this weekend so I can ship it on Monday. Those are deadline needs.
But I also needed to vacuum and mop the floors. And dust. I did the floors, and some of the dusting. I also washed all the puppies’ bedding, towels I used on them, etc. I have too many needs.
Then there are the darn wants. I’m usually good about fulfilling needs first, then wants as a treat, just like if the puppies do what they’re supposed to, they get their treats. :)
So, I started watching Outlander. I bought the tape. Can’t get it on my limited channels and I’ve done the free premium channels for 3 mos and rarely ever watch them. But while working on the bears, I’ll watch a movie. And I’m hooked. And I want to watch more. Love anything that’s historical, love time travel. Love the Highlands. So enjoying so far. And I want to watch more of it. I could fulfill a need while I do so–make up the remaining bear for the order.
But, I have to get my word count. And that’s nagging at me. So first the writing, and then the bear. But I also want to play Dragonage Inquisition. RPGs are really addictive. I’m goal oriented. I want to solve quests, fulfill missions, take down the bad guys, rescue the good guys. I work long hours on writing and promoting. I enjoy it, but I also need a break from it–I tell myself, just to go and fight monsters, etc. :)
Again, I tell myself–yes, you can. You can play all day long! IF you get your word count. *sigh*
So I have to post another blog [need] and then after that? I’ll play my game for a while, then stop and watch the movie and work on the bear some more.
But what I really want to do is skip writing and play the game.
Writing prevails. I write 2500 words a day, but as you can see with needing 5700 today, I’m behind.
Off to write another blog and see what wins out. Writing? Or…..Gaming.
I have to say that some of the reason I’m not getting tons of word count is that I’m getting closer to the end. I have to wrap up loose ends and figure out how I’m going to end it, how I’m going to get the hero and heroine to say I do without it sounding like any of the other books. So that means lots of thinking…
Have a super great day!

Do You Multi-Task???
I am. Okay, today, I’ve got to start proofing the final copy of SEAL Wolf Hunting. Don’t you love this cover? Besides the guy, I LOVE the wolf. Since I write about wolves, as in werewolves, but they’re so human and so wolf-like that it seems sacrilegious to call them werewolves–as in a horror version of them, I love to see a beautiful wolf on the cover taking up center stage too. Why? Because the man is not just a man, but a wolf. I love this time with the book–it’s nearly done–just checking to make sure there are no other mistakes, but there are so few, that it’s a time for me to have that one last read that’s more for pleasure than anything, before you get it!
So that’s one of my number one priorities. I also want to continue to work on bears. I finished two last night. I finished making a 3rd, but still need to embroider the paws. :)
And I want to get my word count in on She-Wolf. 2500 words a day. I need to be at 8500 today. I’m at 7200 right now. So moving right along. Usually when I get in edits, I have to quit everything and concentrate on only the edits. Then I’m playing a horrible game of catch up. So I’m trying to work on my blogs, word count, then proofing, then bears so I don’t get behind on anything. :)
It’s kind of like playing an RPG, role-playing game. I’m playing Dragon Age: Inquisition for my break time at night once I have all my other stuff done. Yesterday, besides word count, I was critiquing 10 chapters of a critique partner’s book, and while I was playing the game, I was finishing up the bears. Now, I also have to constantly stop to take puppies out, to play with them, cuddle with them, train them, feed them. So I do have other stuff going on. But in the RPG–there’s always a decision to make. Do I concentrate on the Big Boss, the guy with all the strength that is really, really hard to kill, and then work on his minions after he’s dead? Or do I tackle everyone at once? Then once the little guys are dead, I can use all my strength against the big guy?
Well, oftentimes I’ll go after the big guy while the little guys are beating at me too. And when I’m working on my projects, often I’ll tackle the one that needs to be done first–just all day long for every day that it takes to get it done. Then my stack of things to do goes down a little before it goes up a lot again.
So this is kind of a new experiment for me. Working on all things–having a goal for each, and getting each of them done, and not just working on one big project. I think it’s working, so far, because I think when I do just one major thing, I tend to take breaks anyway, and I don’t get as much done. Time will tell.
I want to get half of the proof book done today, and the other half tomorrow. That’s my goal. I need to start sewing up the other bears–4 of them, so another goal. And word count on She-Wolf.
Other than that, that’s it! :)
When you have jobs to tackle, do you go after the tough ones first, or the little ones until you’re ready to tackle the big one? I do that with first line edits. The simple stuff first. Then I tackle the bigger issues. :) When I see a page of issues, I want to reduce the number quickly. Then it doesn’t seem like so much.
Have a terrific Saturday and hope all your issues are little ones. The Big Bosses can be a real chore to deal with.

She-Wolf–Next….
Okay, so I sell on a plot synopsis. A short synopsis. A couple of
paragraph synopsis. And since I’m nearly finished with A SEAL Wolf
Diving for Trouble–one of my beta readers suggested moving a couple of
things around, to which I said I had NO TIME. Because I’m due at my
daughter’s house soon and then won’t have time to write. I’m afraid I
might be keeping dogs from fighting the whole time I’m there, *sigh*,
but hope they’ll get along. BUT, I made the time because I want the best
book out there, and so she and I were going back and forth on how to
fix the issues last night, and I’ve been rewriting this morning. :)
And now that it is really nearly done, I’m opening up a file on the next book. I’ve made a start. I opened up a file for the next book. Yes. That’s it. The first step. Without it, no file, no book. And I opened one on the next one because here I thought I had already for this one and hadn’t. So I’m a step ahead. One thing was finding my blurb to remember what I said I was going to write about. That was like two books ago. And I have 3 more I’m writing.
Then, I typed in the title, which will probably change. And my name. Which most likely won’t. And….yes, Chapter 1. That’s it. The book is started. and I have 80,000 words to go. Well, 79,995 technically. Hey, every word counts. I need to add my bio and that will add a few more words.
But on SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble, it ended up at 90,000 words and I haven’t even added my bio, acknowledgements or dedication. So I know I can do it.
I just have to take baby steps. I have to get to work on the dreaded taxes, and I still need to put Phantom Fae in print form, and I need to send off SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble after any other changes are made on Monday. And then it’s nose to the grindstone on working on She-Wolf.
First, since it’s a romance, I have to think of how they’ll meet–hero and heroine. Since it’s a werewolf story, I have to have the wolfishness show early too…one running as a wolf, or some such thing. And I’ll have to show the conflict early on.
That’s my Mission Impossible, and I’m stepping up to the challenge, as soon as I can. This book is due Jun 1, so no time to lose. :)
Hope you are having a glorious day! It’s FREEZING here, literally, with more snow showers on the way.
I look outside at them today, and they look just as pretty as they did before they got frostbite.
Have a happy Saturday!

New Releases! New Bears! Time Has Run Out…
Kiss of the Vampire is now available with its new cover. The print version looks like it’s still not available with the new cover. They said 3-5 days and it was uploaded yesterday. It is also available in audiobook and still waiting for the cover to change on that.
Kiss of the Vampire
(Blood Moon Series, Book 1)
Category: Fiction » Young adult or teen » Romance » Fantasy
The motto of the vampires is that humans have to deal with problems
on their own. But when Levka and his friends risk all to save human
girls, he is injured and so the adventure begins. A cruise. A human girl
who is terrified of water. And a vampire who has targeted her for his
mate. But she has some secrets of her own.
Forced to take a cruise ship to babysit her foster sister, Caitlin
has to face her own demons. But add to that her foster sister’s and her
friend’s antics and Caitlin’s inability to use her witch’s magic over
water and she has little hope to enjoy this trip. Until she meets a
wheelchair-bound teen and wants to make friends with him in the worst
way.
Levka and his friends make a hasty retreat from Dallas before the vampire elders stake them for getting involved in human affairs–again. But when he meets Caitlin on the cruise ship, hating that he’s so weak after being injured so severely that he has to use a wheelchair, he finds their troubles have just begun.

The Vampire…In My Dreams is available in ebook. I’m still proofing the print version. And I just signed up the narrator for the audiobook version.
Proving a guy is a vampire for the glory it will bring seemed like a good idea. At the time. Until he needs Marissa Lakeland’s help to fight the vampire who made him the way he is. No problem. She’s a witch. Witches can handle it. But vampires don’t exist, and there’s nothing in a witch’s training that deals with a creature that doesn’t exist. So using her wits, she’ll manage, right? If the creature of the night doesn’t get her first. As a centuries-old vamp, Lynetta doesn’t lose ever, and she doesn’t intend to now.

Call of the Cougar is now available in ebook. I’m still proofing the print version. And I just signed up the narrator for the audiobook version.
Call of the Cougar: Looking for love can be dangerous…
Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Services, Tracey Whittington, takes down wildlife traffickers and more, but what she doesn’t expect is to be in a shootout, multiple times, when the business turns deadly. Nor does she suspect she’ll be working with Hal Haverton, who serves as a part-time deputy for Yuma Town, Colorado, and runs his own horse ranch. As long as he doesn’t stop her investigative work—she has been placed on administrative leave due to the last shootout—she’ll be just fine.
Hal Haverton has every intention of keeping the wild cat safe, even if it means helping her to solve the case when every time he turns around, she’s involved in another shootout. When her boss asks their good friend, the sheriff, to have one of his deputies serve as a bodyguard for the cougar shifter, Hal’s all for it. So is the other deputy, but Hal’s got this covered. Even if getting somewhere with the lady means having his gun ready at all times. There are definite perks to getting to know the Special Agent better—if they live long enough to do something about it.

Still getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, since I have to have them early for my son and DIL and a birthday for my daughter. :) Some of them should be coming in today, I think. :) But at least the house is decorated, clean and it’s time to visit. :)
Oh, and a couple of new bears!
Have a lovely Saturday!!
I’m off to proof the rest of The Vampire…In My Dreams’s print version, then need to get to work on Call of the Cougar’s print proofing. I’m afraid with the kids’ impending visit, time has just about run out. LOL
Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Getting started on Christmas?
