One of those Days....

I couldn’t sleep last night. I ended up with Malware on my Facebook and I can’t access it now. So I got up at 3 am to try and figure it out again. Changed password, used CCleaner, tried different browser, updated my Windows, and….had to restart the computer. Then, can’t get my computer started now.

So it’s been one of those mornings. I’m on my laptop, and I’ve sent an emergency message to my daughter to tell my SIL I need help! It’s Mother’s Day weekend. So it seems appropriate. Doesn’t it?
*sigh* I really have been trying to get my writing done. I hate it when I can’t start my computer, can’t access accounts I need to access and of course the puppies decided they had to go out at 5:30.

So I’m wearing my purple wolf t-shirt while writing this blog, ignoring the puppies that have been telling me for that last hour and a half that is time for their breakfast even though it is not.

And dreaming of the wolf…..
001
I finally got my butterfly/hummingbird plants in and I can’t wait until they start blooming. But they’re just little itty bitty things, and first I have to make sure my goats don’t eat them.
What? You didn’t know I have goats?
Max and Tanner tired (640x427)
Yep, they might not look like goats, but their looks can be deceptive.
Have a super great day!!

I’m going to write no matter the obstacles in my way!!! Oh, and I have 3 more butterfly plants to put out too.:) Have a great one!

SEAL Wolf Hunting Release on Tuesday, July 7!!

Love these reviews! They’re starting to come in for SEAL Wolf Hunting!
It’s releasing on July 7, so get ready!

If only you made a different choice, moved faster, slower, something, anything to change the outcome of a past event that haunts you with regret; haven’t we all experienced that? Such is the conflict that plagues the novel’s hero, Paul. Once a SEAL, always a SEAL and failure doesn’t sit well with him. The good thing about this story is that the angst doesn’t bog down the story, it just helps a reader understand what motivates the hero to make the choices he does, and why he says the things he says. In the very first chapter, not only does a reader see that, but they get a good dose of the kind of humor and quirky shenanigans Ms. Spear puts her characters through. Their first ‘rescue’ mission occurs when they come home and I found it hilarious.” Long and Short Reviews

Big Bad (Sexy) Werewolves

Traditionally, werewolves were villains and monsters, but modern romance novels and popular movies, like Twilight, paint them in a different light. Werewolves are still tough, fierce fighters but now they are often seen as loyal protectors, much like tamed wolves probably protected their early human friends.

When I wrote Blade of the Wolf, I played up this guardian and protector role. Ronan Graeme is an immortal werewolf and a Sgian Dubh Guardian. He is a man unlike any the heroine, Syrena, has met. She doesn’t know what to make of him at first. She knows instantly that she’s attracted to him but it takes her a while to trust him. She doesn’t learn what he truly is until after she’s intimate with him. Even when he tells her he’s a Sgian Dubh Guardian, she doesn’t know much about him. He leaves out the part about being immortal and a wolf-shifter. But soon, he can’t hide the truth from her anymore. What can she do? He’s the most fascinating man she’s ever met.

What about you? Do you love hero types who were antagonists and bad guys or monsters in the past? Do you enjoy reading heroes who are demons, vampires and werewolves?

Here is an excerpt that shows why Syrena can’t resist Ronan:

His expression turned serious. “After what happened two nights ago, I’m concerned. I think you have a stalker.”
“A stalker?” She held back an impulsive laugh. “Me? Please,” she said doubtfully.
“Indeed, lass. This is most serious.”
His yummy accent and the endearing way he called her lass almost distracted her from the grave issue at hand. “What should I do? Call the police?”
“Why don’t we go inside, out of this wind?” He gestured again toward the coffee shop entry.
Okay, maybe she would get lucky and he’d seduce her in the restroom. Dream on, Syrena. She proceeded into the almost deserted establishment where she bought coffee every morning. The appetizing mixed aromas of flavored coffees swirled through her senses. They placed their orders and took seats at a back corner table.
“I’m buying,” she said. “After all, I owe you one for the other night when you fought that man following me.”
“Nay. I insist.”
Nay. How charmingly Old World he was.
He fixed his molten gold gaze on her and consuming heat rushed over her skin. Breathe, Syrena, breathe. His appeal was complete. He was both edgy and elegant. Rough and cultured. Far out of her league. How would his deep voice sound whispering wicked, sexy words in her ear late at night? Intoxicating. A frisson of delight skittered through her.
But she couldn’t jump his bones right now. She needed to get to know him better first.
“What kind of work do you do?” she asked, wondering what would require him to be so deliciously athletic.
“Security, which is why the man following you concerned me a great deal.”
“Security? Like a bodyguard?”
“More or less. I work with a large firm and I’m scouting out the area to see if we might expand here.”
“A Scottish security firm?”
“International. We protect people all over the world.”
Should she believe him, or trust him? “What did the guy following me that night look like?” she asked.
“Short, beastly looking bloke with black hair and a beard.”
“Beastly?”
Ronan scowled. “Aye. Ugly.”
She snickered. The whole situation sounded too ridiculous. “Damn, why can’t I be stalked by a hunk?” Like him.
The corners of his mouth crooked up. His smile gentled his face, but at the same time she noticed his eyeteeth were a little longer than the others and slightly pointed. Not like the exaggerated fangs of vampires in movies. Much shorter. In fact, they were barely noticeable, but she found them unusual and a bit dangerous. Exciting. How would those teeth feel if he nibbled on her neck? Her inner thigh?
“Sorry. It isn’t funny, I know,” she said, trying to focus on the gravity of the situation. “I just don’t understand. I mean, I don’t usually capture men’s attention.”
Growing serious again, Ronan gazed deeply into her eyes, delving, disorienting her. “Why not?”
Her face heated. “I don’t know. I’m not exactly a vamp.”
“Nay, you are no vampire, thank the saints.”
Oh god, he was priceless. She held back a grin. “I meant I’m not, you know…sexy.”
He frowned. “Says who?”
“No one has to say. It’s simply a fact.”
“It is not a fact. You’re a great beauty, Syrena, incredibly sexy, and don’t let anyone be telling you any different.”
Giddiness tapped on her chest and she could hardly draw breath. Her whole body tingled with the need for him to touch her. Who was this man? And where had he come from? Scotland, sure, but what had caused their paths to cross?
“Thank you,” she mumbled, almost speechless at such a compliment from him. Their coffees were served, but she was too dazed to appreciate the fragrance of her mocha cappuccino.
Ronan—she liked thinking of him as Ronan. The name was more personal and intimate than Graeme. Ronan sipped his black Arabica.
She tried not to stare at his mouth, but couldn’t help herself. His lips were neither thin nor full, a man’s mouth, nothing feminine about it. The trace of dark beard stubble only enhanced his masculinity. How would his lips feel against hers? Smooth, hot, firm? He was probably a masterful kisser, seducing a woman in five seconds flat.
“Have you sensed someone following you?” he asked.
She forced herself to focus on his words, not the way his lips moved. “Sometimes.” Because I’m psychic. No, she couldn’t reveal that. Her weirdness was one reason guys steered clear of her. She didn’t want Ronan to think she was weird.
“Have you seen anyone?”
“No, I just have a vague feeling of being watched.” And not only by the earthbound spirits of Asheville’s former residents.
“I have an eighth-degree black belt in aikido. Perhaps I could teach you some self-defense moves.”
“Eighth degree? My lord, I didn’t know there were eight degrees. I’m sure I can’t afford your fees. You probably guard movie stars and Fortune 500 CEOs.”
He shook his head. “I’m thinking you can afford free. And I have never guarded a movie star.”
“But you seem so capable. Surely you could make a lot of money guarding rich and famous people.”
“The money’s not important. When would you like to practice self-defense?”
“You’re serious about that?”
“Aye.”
Why was he so insistent? Though his emotions were a blank wall to her, for the most part, and she was still unsure whether to fully trust him, she again sensed a protective quality deep within him, as if it were the most basic and innate component of his personality.
“If someone attacks you, you need to protect yourself.” He studied her, his gaze probing and prying into the core of her psyche. “You’re afraid, Syrena. Why do you fear me?”
“I don’t know you. I can’t…”
A new sensation poured through her—comfort, trust, friendship.
What’s going on? Her insights never came to her with this clarity and sudden rush of emotion. Her pulse roared in her ears. “Are you psychic?”
“Nay, why?”
She shook her head, unable to explain. “It isn’t important.” Her psychic abilities were wonky around him, as if she didn’t have complete control of her own thoughts. Maybe her reawakened libido was wreaking havoc on the rest of her mind.
“Please believe me when I say I only want to help you.”
His expression was so sincere, how could she not trust him? But the friendship angle of the sensation that flowed through her was wrong. The lucid dream she’d had would never allow him to be only a friend. Nope, she had a crush on him, dammit.
She craved touching him so badly, her fingers shook. Instead, she picked up her cup and guzzled a long swallow of the sweet, lukewarm brew.
What would he think if he knew about the dream? Or her attraction? She’d never experienced or even imagined such an intense level of eroticism. Granted, she wasn’t very worldly when it came to sex. She’d certainly never had a torrid affair, like she was craving with him.
“How about right now at a place of your choosing?” he asked.
“Right now?” Sex invaded her brain, sex right now. But that wasn’t what he’d meant. Mind out of the gutter, Syrena.

5 Hoots... "refreshingly new perspective"

Hi, everyone, I had an awesome review from Nocturne Romance Reads that I wanted to share with you.

Blade of the Wolf – Nicole North
Ellora’s Cave
Paranormal
5 Hoots

Review: Blade of the Wolf is a sizzling adventure and sated even my infinite fantasy for hot Scottish werewolves. This is not your run of the mill romantic urban fantasy, which I greatly appreciated. I was mesmerized by this refreshingly new perspective on the normally redundant paranormal romance/shapeshifter genre.

The development of all the character’s individually, as well as, cumulatively is exquisitely in-depth. Who could resist the yummy immortal Scottish Sgian Dubh Guardian, Ronan Graeme. He is the bad boy with the heart of gold. Syrena Ellis, a voluptuous psychic, is the forbidden fruit Ronan never knew he craved. She is the perfect counterpart to his serious nature. The sexual tension and erotic fantasies is orgasmic. The ardent attraction between Ronan and Syrena is instantaneous. What made it believable is the gradual building of the bond, despite their burning desires and intense emotions. This made the erotic scenes that much hotter. As I progressed through the book, I could feel my temperature rising to match Syrena and Ronan’s blazing passion.

Even with a heat index of scorching hot; the story wasn’t just about the carnal delights. I was surprised it had such a multifaceted, suspenseful plot. The villain is the most intriguing character. This is my first encounter with a hybrid vampire incubus. At least for me; this is uncharted or rarely explored territory. It definitely gave Blade of the Wolf a unique and exciting twist. All and all; this is a positively arousing and climactic story that I will read again.

Hats off to Nicole North for a superb job creating an edgy and erotic paranormal romance!

Blade of the Wolf review

I wanted to share this fantabulous review from Tanya at Among the Muses for my erotic paranormal romance Blade of the Wolf. (Thank you, Tanya!)

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
Heat Rating: 5/5

Holy HOT! Nicole North delivers one scorchin' romance between two forbidden people: an immortal Scottish werewolf protector who is sworn to protect one powerful clairvoyant woman living in a small, southern US town, unknown to herself that she was held in highest regard by the Sgian Dubh Guardians as a Protected One.

The blurb does a great job at giving the overall idea of the story, so instead I'm going to just focus on the literary aspects of Blade of the Wolf.

Blade of the Wolf is a darker, edgier paranormal romance, making it different than what Nicole has previously written. And she did a great job at creating it. Right from the beginning, there's intrigue, mystery, and action. With each passing page I was left in suspense and seriously hating the villain even more than I did in the beginning. With that being said, I have to additionally comment on the depth of the characters that Nicole creates.

Heroine, Syrena, is unique in her own right. She's not the "typical" size 2 heroine that we often see, but a size 12, which I found refreshing. And I loved the fact that Ronan, a sexy alpha, found her to be the most beautiful thing he'd seen in centuries. The chemistry between the two was obvious and heart-felt at times. Even though their coming together was against the rules of the Sgian Dubh Guardians, and carried heavy -- and sometimes deadly -- consequences, their love was worth the risk for each of them.

The heat is scorching hot in Blade of the Wolf! You can only imagine that denying attraction between two people can be a firework just waiting to go off, and in this story that's exactly what happens. And then again and again. *g* Be prepared for lots of explicitly graphic lovin', especially since it's needed to help lure in the utterly evil, villainous incubus hell bent on stealing the powerful psychic energies hidden deep within Syrena.

The paranormal and magical elements of Blade of the Wolf were almost complex in nature, which always kept me on my toes and completely engaged in the differing dynamics. The hero was a member of the Sgian Dubh Guardians, their immortal Were lives dedicated to protecting psychics against ancient evil. The inclusion of a very villainous incubus added a different paranormal twist as well. But what really stuck out to me was the fact that Nicole also takes her magical elements to a whole 'nother plane of existence-- literally! The ability for both good and evil to have the ability to exist and travel between planes for their own personal use added an air of chilliness and unusual twist.

Additionally, I enjoyed that Nicole brought the immortal highlander to a small town in the southern US. Although, being the Scotland highlander kind of girl that I am, I hope we get to learn more about the secret Guardian stronghold in the highlands in future reads. And speaking of future reads, I really can't wait to get fellow hotty Guardian Caerk's story in the future. This immortal highlander is sure to have a hot and edgy book, primarily for the fact that he is the only Guardian that is both were and vampire! Did I also mention that he was yummy? :)

Overall, I really enjoyed this story!! Nicole has a way with building suspense, unraveling plot lines and creating characters. The paranormal and magical kind of elements created for an engaging read where I was always wondering what Nicole would give me next. With Blade of the Wolf I appreciated the dark, edginess that she brought to the story, but also added a fabulous dose of very sexy romance and sexin'. Did I mention there's sex on the ceiling in this story? :) Yep, be prepared to be all sorts of warm while reading!!

What is a Werewolf?

To some, a werewolf is a giant hairy monster, a cross between a wolf and a T-Rex. Even one of my good friends thought this was the type of werewolf I was creating when I wrote my book. These monsters may come from legend, but that's not the type of werewolves I write about. My werewolves shape-shift from (yummy, sexy) men to normal-sized wolves. They are immortal Sgian Dubh Guardians from Scotland who have vowed to protect humanity from evil. Not an easy job. In fact, they risk their lives everyday in defense of Protected Ones--humans with special powers and great destinies who are often the target of evil entities. Protected Ones usually help many people or do a lot of good in the world.

Ronan Graeme is a warrior and a Sgian Dubh Guardian who takes his job very seriously, especially this time. Not for 600 years has so much been at stake. Because he's part wolf, his senses are much sharper than a normal human's, especially his sense of smell and hearing. Plus he can see well in near darkness. Since they have to battle evil entities so often, it's a good thing Sgian Dubh Guardians heal ten times faster than humans. Another ability in their arsenal is anti-gravity. They can crawl up walls or walk on the ceiling. This also helps slow their descent if they want to jump off something extremely high. (I must add here that this book contains a love scene which happens on the ceiling. :) )

One of the Guardians' most interesting skills is controlling the minds of the humans around them. Ronan only does this when absolutely necessary, usually in life or death situations, or to prevent mass hysteria.

Sgian Dubh Guardians, being part human and part wild animal, have a stronger than normal sex drive, but they control their urges well. The full moon increases their need to find a willing lass for a tumble between the sheets. But they're not allowed to touch Protected Ones. Too bad Syrena, the heroine, is a Protected One.

I have some wonderful new reviews for this book that I'd like to share.

Blade of the Wolf by Nicole North is hot! The novel starts out explaining how Syrena has psychic powers that an incubus wants to obtain, which ultimately puts her at risk and even at death. So Ronan, a werewolf, is assigned to keep Syrena safe by watching over her constantly. Syrena has no idea what Ronan is, but she has an undeniable attraction to the Scottish beauty. Ronan is not supposed to engage in pleasure with Syrena, but pretty soon the attraction is too much to handle for both of them.

I really enjoyed this novel. The story is well written and the plot kept me turning pages. Ronan is a great character, and not because he has a sexy Scottish accent (which didn’t hurt). He is so kind and protective over Syrena which will make any reader fall in love with him. Syrena is more self conscious of her body, but she’s kind and tries to do whats best. But her sister is annoying, at best, offering a blow job to Ronan, when she knows Syrena likes him. Other than the self absorbed sister, I loved this book. I recommend it to werewolf fans and fans of paranormal romance. Nicole North has created a wonderful story and I’ll be purchasing her other novels very soon. Romancing the Book

****
Rating: 5 Cups

Ronan is on a mission for which he takes an oath to protect the innocent even from himself. The temptation of one mere human woman could be his very downfall.

Syrena is a psychic with the eerie ability to see the dead. Capable of so much more, she has always denied her powers and turned her back on them long ago. Every encounter with Ronan brings her powers screaming back and makes her even stronger.

Their love is forbidden but impossible to ignore. The past and present, full of regrets for both lovers, meet in an epic battle between good and evil where the victor is never guaranteed.

Blade of the Wolf is the epitome of romance novels. Nicole North gives the reader passion, sacrifice, love and strength in both the hero and the heroine. The evil is the unimaginable kind and strikes fear in the hearts of the reader. I absolutely loved the story, which flowed smoothly from one chapter in the lives of two characters whose love progresses at warp speed. An absolutely outstanding fast-paced novel meant to sweep the reader along on the tide of love and lust and succeeds in providing all the pleasures of reading a truly outstanding story.

If you are looking for some amazing paranormal erotic romance then look no further, Blade of the Wolf by Nicole North is the book you want to read. With a delicious hero, immortal werewolf and Scottish Sgian Dubh Guardian, who cannot read this story? North takes us on a magical journey where love can appear when you least expect it and boy does it when Ronan meets the woman he is sworn to protect. But our hero has a dark past that may interfere with the psychic Syrena. Readers will love the dynamic between Ronan and Syrena, the hot romance between the two is enough to scorch the reader you’re reading it on. Who can resist a magical journey, lovable characters, witty dialogue and of course an evil incubus. I hope to see a series come out of this because I can see it turning into one. North’s romance stories are always ones to enjoy so if you like this one, be sure to look up her others.

Gorgeous new cover for Blade of the Wolf!!

Recently I sold an erotic romance novel to Ellora's Cave entitled Blade of the Wolf! And I've already received the cover! I'm soooo excited and thrilled with this cover!!! It's Sam Bond! Sigh. I love everything about it. It's perfect! What do you think?

Sinfully Sexy Saturday Ahead of Incoming Ike

I just finished Deadly Liaisons edits for the new vampire romantic suspense and am in the middle of finishing up The Accidental Highland Hero in a couple of weeks. This guy could be James when he's out of his kilt and taking a dip in the loch. And then it's off to another werewolf adventure.

Hoping Ike won't hit us too bad. The winds have already picked up considerably this morning. Torrential downpours are expected. And I expect that we'll lose our satellite, maybe our electricity as any little storm can do it.

I'm off to work in a little bit. Hope that won't be a disaster. Grocery stores were crowded and the gas pump lines were insane last night. People were stocking up on bottled water--we've made additional ice to help keep our food referigerated. Hopefully, it won't be anything like what Houston has experienced.

Hope everyone has a Sexy Saturday and stays safe in the path of the storm!

What to Do When...???

You ever feel that you are torn everywhich way but loose? Have conflicting goals? Not sure what to do first???

With the 107 degree heat here, I have to do yardwork early, but I need to hide in a cave and finish Allure of the Wolf, but I need to clean out my outer building and keep moving stuff in case I've sold the house, but I have to work on online classes, and write up two new ones.

I pretty much have my days planned first thing in the morning. But what do you do when nothing works like it's supposed to? Yesterday I hung screens in the windows for the supposed buyers of my house, but I found that the other owners left me 5 short. My mower is still in the repair shop---over a week, and so I weedeated, but the weedeater kept hanging up and I didn't have time to mess with it before the potential buyers came to look at the house again.

Then I had to run to town to make a counter offer, but I had to stay home because my internet wouldn't work--phone line staticky...but the phone man said it was fine.... Line busy, usually means my line is full of static. Good news, my line is clear, I didn't get charged, and he bought a copy of Heart of the Wolf. Bad news, my internet wasn't working still and I had to get to town before things closed to take care of other crucial business. So I called my internet provider, got a nice foreign person, and guess what? My wonderful internet provider changed the access number. Why not forewarn us??? I asked. I wouldn't have had to wait 3 days to get a phone repairman out here, spend 9 hours catching up on online class lessons with my students at my son's apt--he had that fast internet stuff--wish we could get it out here--and miss calls for items I had for sale in the paper so I can move!!!

*Sigh* Now I'm back online. It's almost like having a car that doesn't run. It's essential to have working!

The good news is--I sold The Accidental Highland Hero, sequel to Winning the Highlander's Heart. The bad news--I have to finish writing it! :)

So what do you do when you need to be outside doing stuff, inside doing stuff, in town doing stuff, all at once???

I need five of me. :)

What is Urban Fantasy?

Urban Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy that takes place in contemporary times. Which means, gargoyles, and demons, and yes, werewolves, oh my, live in our times. Just think, you could be conversing with a werewolf or a vampire even on the Internet and never realize it. You thought some of the people out there were scary? Well, in an urban fantasies, you don't know the half of it.

How can us poor humans face a world like that? In the past, these fantastical creatures were often evil. Now? Lovers. Werewolf lovers. Vampire lovers. Gargoyle lovers? Even half human/half demon lovers. Yep, it takes all kinds to make the world go around.

And that's what's fun with having an imagination and sharing it with the world. No longer are the princes just plain cursed...the prince who is a bear by day, the prince who is a frog...nope...now the princes are vampires, and princely ghosts, stone princes, and well, yes, even frog princes of a much sexier nature.

What are your favorite kinds of urban fantasies and why?

The End

Why finish writing a project?

I find that every project is different for me. Some I whip through, though most I get stuck on at some point, since I'm a pantser--writing by the seat of my pants. I couldn't plan out a story if I tried. I have lots and lots of story beginnings and some I've finished that need major revisions for one reason or another.

So why finish the story? Why finish more in the same vein? Because you might sell every one of them!!! I sold Heart of the Wolf, but had started Don't Cry Wolf before I sold, but quit, worrying that if I didn't sell Heart of the Wolf, why write another? Even though it was also a stand alone title. When I sold Heart of the Wolf, my editor wanted to see Don't Cry Wolf. It wasn't done! So I finished it and she wanted to see more...and bought Betrayal of the Wolf and Allure of the Wolf. So why finish the story?

Even if you don't sell, you still have them available to sell. And to me, that's the main goal. With every book you write, you hone your skills more. Some get really good at writing the first 3 chapters for contests, but what about avoiding the sagging middle? What about learning to give a compelling end that will encourage readers to pick up the next book and the next one? By writing the whole tamale, we gain more experience. :)

And the best part? We have books to sell. :)

Terry, who is off to work some more on Allure of the Wolf--54K done, 46K to go. Downhill slide!

Sexy Settings

There's something about water and bare-chested men that is just darned sexy. Bare-backed can work too. I never was much interested in fishing, but this guy would definitely change my mind! Don't you love his...uhm, waders?

I find adding water to a scene can really make it sexy! In Heart of the Wolf--it's the rain. In Don't Cry Wolf, it's the shower. In Betrayal of the Wolf, it's the beach. And in Allure of the Wolf, haven't come to that part yet. :) It's awfully cold in the Canadian Arctic! :)

What do you think? Fishing look any better from this viewpoint?

Sinful Saturday & a Contest

Hmm, in Heart of the Wolf, one of the villains is a wild game hunter and his house was full of animal skins. But the hero was searching his place for clues as to whether the guy is a cold-blooded killer or not. So here Devlyn is, reading through emails on the guy's computer to see if he was connected to the murders or not.

It's fun taking a picture and describing a scene that was in your book, or using a picture to help describe a scene. I did that with a palatial farm in Heart of the Wolf that was for sale in Oregon so I'd get it right as far as the number of barns a big farm might have, cattle, etc. :)

I wanted to share a pictue that my Rebel Romance Critique partners have stashed away in the photo album--hunky Car Wash Guys. They know how to do it right. Keep the clothes from getting dirty--wash without. Hmm-hmm. :) So here's the version instead of Car Wash guy after he finished washing the car, minus the rest of the hunky picture. And I'm not talking about the souped up red sports car either!!

Have a super Saturday and check out my contest at Deadly Vixens!

The Thrill of the Paranormal

I've always been fascinated in the paranormal from the time when I was a teen and watched the local community college put on the play Dracula and Hansel and Gretal, to ghost stories at the school library and tons of mythology, and fantasies too, like Beauty and the Beast (not the Disney Version) and all the other childhood fantasies, where the man and woman loved each other, but were destined to be star crossed lovers if they couldn't break a spell, or kill off the evil witch. So yeah, I've been in love with the paranormal forever.

It's only been really recently that I discovered the paranormal world of romances with a happily ever after for some of the most unlikely types of stories, from goddesses and demons to ghostly hunks, and, yep, werewolves.
I'd have to say for me, Dracula was the closest thing to a sexy romance, but it was never a happily ever after for the poor vampire. The same with the other stories, the witches and ghosts were not the main characters, but the villains or secondaries. Not as far as romances go at least.

And then there are the tons of psychic detective shows and ghost hunter shows, and fantasies like Narnia and Star Dust, and lots more great stories with paranormal elements.

From werewolves like Heart of the Wolf and Don't Cry Wolf, to vampires and witches in The Vampire...In My Dreams and psychics in Deidre's Secret, I love to explore the paranormal or urban fantasy realm.
So if you could have any paranormal ability, whether it was some kind of psychic ability, or shapeshifting power, what would you want to have and why?

Cynthia Eden makes it Hotter After Midnight

Hi, we'll continue paranormal week here at Fierce Romance by talking to Cynthia Eden about her latest story.

Cynthia Eden writes paranormal romances with a sensual edge. Her publishers include: Kensington Brava, Avon Red, Red Sage, and ImaJinn Books. She lives in the South and loves long, lazy summer days (and books--plenty of books!).

Vonda: Welcome, Cynthia! Please tell us about Hotter After Midnight.

Cynthia: Thank you! I’m very excited to be here today. :-) Hotter After Midnight is my first paranormal release from Kensington Brava—it’s the start of my “Midnight” series. My heroine, Dr. Emily Drake, is a psychologist—and she only treats paranormal patients. When a supernatural killer begins stalking the streets, she is pulled into the investigation as a profiler. Emily gets teamed up with the lead detective on the case, Colin Gyth—a guy who happens to be a wolf-shifter. The attraction between the two is immediate. If they can just catch the killer, they might have a chance at love.

Vonda: I love wolf-shifters! What inspired you to write this story?

Cynthia: I started writing this story right after I returned from the RWA Convention in Atlanta. I was energized by the conference and really wanted to write without fear. So, I just sat down, stopped worrying about the market and what was selling well and what wasn’t—and I just wrote. Emily’s character came to me immediately, and she led the way for everything else.

Vonda: That's inspiring! Is this your first full-length novel release from Kensington Brava? How did this sale come about?

Cynthia: Yes, this is my first full-length novel with Kensington Brava. My agent, Laura Bradford (of the Bradford Literary Agency), pitched the story to Kensington for me. I love Laura—and if anyone is interested in learning more about her, you should check out her website at http://www.bradfordlit.com/. (Hey—I plug her because I do think she’s a terrific agent.)

Vonda: Wonderful! You have several releases this year. Please tell us about them.

Cynthia: I am absolutely thrilled to say that I have four Kensington Brava releases and one Red Sage release. All of my releases will be paranormals. I love paranormal stories like I love my chocolate.

After Hotter After Midnight, I will be in two anthologies from Kensington, When He Was Bad (June 08) and Everlasting Bad Boys (September 08). In December, my second full-length novel from Kensington Brava, Midnight Sins, will be available. I like to think of Midnight Sins as Basic Instinct meets The X-Files.

My last release of the year will be Secrets, Volume 25: Wicked Delights. I’ll have a novella in the anthology. Blood Hunt is my tale of a vampiress who has a real taste for bad boys.

Vonda: Wow that's a lot of hot sounding stories! What is your favorite part of story creation?

Cynthia: This actually varies for me depending on the story. Sometimes, I absolutely love the beginning. The excitement of starting a new story can be wonderful for me—so many possibilities. Other times, I love the ending. The mad race to the finish usually keeps me up nights as I try to pound out the end of the book.

Vonda: What can we look forward to from you next?

Cynthia: More paranormals! LOL. Seriously, I can’t help it. I think I have a paranormal addiction. I’m working on my last “Midnight” book now, and then I’ve got plots in my mind for a few paranormal bounty hunter books (don’t have a series name for those yet).

Vonda: I love bounty hunters. I know this series will be great. Would you like to ask blog readers a question?

Cynthia: Yes, thank you! I’d like to know…what is your favorite paranormal character? And why is that one your fav?

Vonda: I'll give you my answer now. Who can pick just one? LOL Okay if you're forcing me to pick one I'd have to say a shifter of any type. Thanks again Cynthia for visiting with us today!

New Review for Heart of the Wolf!

Long and Short Reviews
4 1/2 Books!

This action-packed, fast-paced adventure was a page turner that moves from moment to moment with an interesting subplot involving a murdering red werewolf, which is resolved in an unexpected way. As we move from the wilds of Oregon to the city of Portland to the zoo (yes, the zoo… and a funny story that is!) we are given a glimpse into a love that is amazing in it’s intensity as Bella and Devlyn fight for the right to be together. Terry Spear is a fabulous voice in the supernatural genre, and I look forward to more from this author. A fun, rather intense read that will keep your interest till the last page.
