Skating Snowman

Hello EO fans! It's suddenly very cold here and it made me think of snow and one of the things I have fun doing with my family - ice skating! In the Carolinas, there's only a few places to do that in the winter but I think a visit is due.

To make this card, I used a snowman die from Spellbinders and then decorated with many brads and some bling from the EO store. The background was embossed and the blue doily is from another die set in my stash. I had a lot of fun deciding what to put in this snowman's hands but settled on the wreath and ornament brads. I put a jaunty santa hat brad on his head to give him a little more personality. To bling it up a bit, I added two strips of clear jewel bling to the hat trim and pompom. His buttons are black pearl bling. The Snowman, Prancing Deer and Gift Brads were the final touches for this simple and fun card.

Reindeer Food!

When my children were younger, they enjoyed spreading "reindeer food" in our yard on Christmas Eve night! I have made little reindeer food bags to give to children for the last couple years! It is fun!

Measure your clear resealable bags and create a bag topper to go over the top edge. I decorated my fun bag topper with a cute stamped reindeer that I colored in and added some bling to his bow for sparkle! I cut and pasted the poem and embellished with brads and washi tape! Lastly, fill your bag with bird seed and a little glitter! I hope you enjoy! It is a fun treat for children of all ages!

Santa Claus is coming to town!

I am working on my Christmas cards and thought I would try creating a Christmas winter globe scene!

For my globe, I cut a circle base and created a winter scene by stamping trees and using distress inks to create the background. I added prisma glitter for some sparkly snow! Next, I embellished by adding the adorable Santa sleigh brad and reindeer brads. For the base, I used the wood grain washi tape and attached my Merry Christmas sentiment. Lastly, I added my globe to white cardstock trimmed with the red and white stripe washi! I hope you try creating a wintery globe scene! So fun and festive!

Wildlife Winterscapes

Maybe the most fun you can have with our Eyelet Outlet Wildlife Brads is to build little scenes for them to inhabit. This trio of A1 cards all have stamped trees and sponged skies, with Sun and Cloud Brads to light the way and a flurry of Snowflake Sequins to set the season. Pine Tree Brads and Snowy Pines add to the foliage, then the critters arrive: a Prancing Deer, a handsome Moose, plus mama and baby Bear Brads. Two washi tape mats, of Glitter Blue Tape and Wide Wood Washi frame the designs.

There are Eyelet Outlet Animals for every taste, including Dinosaurs, Farm Animals, Reptiles, Cats and Dogs, Fish and Crustaceans, Jungle Animals, Birds, Bugs and Critters of all kinds!

Gingerbread House Gift Box

The weather has started turning cooler here in Central Texas, so it's easier to turn my attention to Christmas crafts than it was when we were still in the 90's.  Today I've got a great little gift box to show you that is loaded with awesome Eyelet Outlet embellishments!

This gable box is from the Cricut Sweet Tooth Boxes image set. The roof has a slit in the center that slips over the handle of the box and lifts off to open which I thought was so clever.  Placing the brads on the box is super simple if done before actually assembling the box.

I thought the holiday red and green enamel dots were a great way to embellish the scallops on the roof, but any of our stick on gems would also be cool.

For snow around the base of the box I used a strip of silver glitter washi tape. I added a wreath brad to the door and some holly brads to the windows.  The star of the show though has to be Eyelet Outlet's brand new Gingerbread brads!  The set includes a little boy and a little girl gingerbread person!  I also added some more sweet touches - the peppermint candy brads, candy cane brad, and lollipop brad.  The roof seemed like a great opportunity for one of our prancing deer brads pulling Santa's sleigh brad!

See these and more holiday brads from Eyelet Outlet here!  Thanks for being with us today!

Christmas ATCs with a sparkle

Hello, Eyelet Outlet fans! I hope you've had a great week! Leslie here sharing a set of three sparkly Christmas ATCs. I'm a confirmed ATC addict and I love creating both cards and coins!

I created one coin and two cards. An artist trading coin is a 2-1/2" circle (I use a punch) and an artist trading card is 3-1/2" x 2-1/2". My standard practice is to always punch two circles or cut two rectangles so that I can decorate one and adhere another one behind it for stability.

To create the 'Joy' coin, I placed a strip of Glitter Tall Tree Washi Tape horizontally across the coin base and added three Penguin Brads and the sentiment die cut from silver foil cardstock. Then I adhered a second punched circle behind it.

To create the 'peace' card, I covered the card base with Wood Washi Tape and then die cut the sentiment into the covered card base, saving the negative space pieces to add back in later. I added three Prancing Deer Brads and just prior to adhering the second rectangle behind it, I added two small strips of Glitter Brown Washi Tape to the extra card so the sparkle would show through the die cut sentiment. Once I adhered the second rectangle, I glued in the negative space pieces to the p, e, a and the second e.

To create the 'merry' card, I covered the card base with Glitter Gold Dots Washi Tape and added the sentiment die cut from red cardstock along with a thin red cardstock strip across the bottom. I adhered the stamped word Christmas and then added one Cardinal Brad and two Cardinal Profile Brads. Then I adhered a second rectangle behind it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time!

Making a Scene

All you need to make the *GOOD* kind of scene, in a cardmaking sense, is a judicious combination of Eyelet Outlet Brads and Glitter Tape... and ok... maybe a little bit of Bling, as well. Which is what I (Lauren) have used to make these two winter wonderland cards:

This Glitter Tall Tree Tape has the perfect colors, the perfect (wide) width and the perfect amount of glitter, of the variety which absolutely DOES NOT leave a sparkly trail wherever it goes. This I needed no more than a few torn paper mats and some Pine TreePrancing Deer and Snowflake Brads to make a perfectly peaceful winter scene.

I've used a second variety of Glitter Tree Tape on my second card, which I framed with Blue Marble Tape and some Fancy Pearl and Jewel Bling before attaching my Moose and Pine Tree Brads. I've bordered the vertical sheet music panel with some Glitter Star Tape and allowed my Snowflake Brads and a few of the tiny gems from the Pearl Bling to cascade down the front of the card.

I expect there are nearly endless combinations of Glitter Tape and Brads that would look beautiful on holiday --or even just winter-themed-- cards. I hope you'll be inspired to try your own variations!

It's a Wrap!

This is my last post before Christmas.  Decorations are up, gifts have been bought, Christmas cards have been mailed and it's all coming together for our Christmas celebration with family next week!  The excitement is building as I'm doing my favorite part - gift wrapping!

This year I made initials for each family member's main gift and after spray painting them, I embellished them with Eyelet Outlet brads that coordinated with the wrapping paper.

I loved the way the poinsettia brads paired with this pretty wrapping paper I found at Kohls!

I found this wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby a few years ago and I LOVE the cardinals on it.  The Eyelet Outlet Cardinal Brad looks like it was made for this paper, too!

Next up, my granddaughter got the Snowman and Snowflake Brad with her snowflake paper!

I thought the new Pinecone Brads paired with a touch of greenery I made with my Cricut looked so great with this plaid ribbon, don't you?

And of course, I had to do one with some bling!  Here I've used some red jeweled bling to serve as my holly berries for the holly I cut with my Cricut.  The new Pinecone Brads look awesome here, too!  I've found so many uses for them that I need to get some more!

And last but not least, Santa's Reindeer can really fly now because Santa's Sleigh is finally empty after dropping this gift off for my husband, Don!

If you're wrapping presents today, bring out your Eyelet Outlet supplies and have some fun with it!  Merry Christmas from all of us at Eyelet Outlet!

Fair Warning!

Hi folks, Lauren here, with a special public service announcement: It turns out making altered rolodex cards with holiday artist trading coins on top is slightly (ok, a LOT!) addictive. On the plus side, this a super fun, super flexible --and, perhaps most importantly--  super FAST way to create with your favorite Eyelet Outlet brads and washi tape. And of course, this idea would work equally well as package tags, gift certificate holders, small cards, tiny bags or boxes... well, let's face it, a week before Christmas, the prospect of being able to make a whole bunch of useful holiday items is *not* to be sneezed at! So here are a few more ideas for you:

I will mention all the specific products in a minute, but probably the most important thing to tell you is the basic "recipe". I made the artist trading coins first. I started with 2.5" circles cut from scraps of patterned paper. Then I inset circles cut with the next smallest size of my nested circle dies. Then I added two or three holiday-themed brads to each coin. Of course, the rolodex card format could easily be discarded in favor of tags, or A2 cards, but in any case, there's a formula for your "base" as well: a neutral paper (or papers, plural) with strips of holiday tape on top. I like to combine 5/8" tapes with skinny ones, but if all of your washi is the same width, you can get the feeling of variety by adding multiple strips of some tapes and overlapping others. I chose combinations of tape that coordinated with the colors in my coins, paired up each set, and that's IT! Instant holiday festiveness!

Here are the brads and tapes I used on each card, working from the top left of the photo above: Skate Brads, Snowflake Brad, Green Filigree Tape, Silver Skinny Glitter Tape; Pinecone Brads, Poinsettia Brad, Pine Tree Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Sleigh Brad, Prancing Deer Brad, Merry Christmas Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Holiday Tree Brads, Snowman Brad, Green Filigree Tape, Skinny Metallic Tape, Green Dot Tape. And now, starting at the top left of the photo below: Holiday Tree Brads, Snowman Brad, Green Dot Tape, Wide Tree Washi, Skinny Green Stripe, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Holiday Mitten Brads, Candy Cane Brad, Red Tree Tape, Skinny Green Stripe Washi; Elf Brads, Ho Ho Ho Tape, Red and Green Dot Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment, Skinny Green Tape; Holiday Light Brads, Deer Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment.

I hope you will be inspired to borrow this "recipe"... or create your own! It really is a fun and fast way to get LOTS of holiday greetings done, with ZERO stress involved! ♥

wishes you the happiest of holiday seasons!

Sleighin' It

There are some fab new holiday brad styles in the Eyelet Outlet Store, with more to come! One that I (Lauren) especially love is the Sleigh Brad, which pairs perfectly with the Prancing Deer from last year.

My first card features an Inchie version of the Sleigh Brad being pulled by three Prancing Deer. I've also worked in some Skinny Tape from a set of five which will be in the store very soon!

My second card contains my favorite cardmaking hack: I love to use journaling cards and stickers! By starting with premade ingredients, all I really had to do for this one was attach my SleighPine Tree and Snowflake Brads and I was *done*!

There are more adorable NEW holiday brads in the EO store right now, with more designs being added weekly. Be sure to check this space periodically to see the design team's awesome and inspiring ideas for using them!

Deer Crossing

Hi!  Kim from Katydid Cards with you today! I'm always happy to be sharing an Eyelet Outlet project with you.

Relatively new in the Eyelet Outlet store are the Prancing Deer Brads.  I paired them with the Deer Brads and the Sun & Cloud Brads to make a card which I hope brings a smile to the face of its recipient.  I have to admit, it makes me smile; but then I always crack myself up with my own silliness.

I made the winding roadway by tracing some free clip art I found.  It's two layers, the white "lines" peeking through the opening in the black layer.  I placed that on the hills of three shades of green.  The hills are just circles and ovals, cut to fit the card of Soft Sky cardstock.  The Deer Crossing sign was also clip art which I converted to a print and cut.

Then came the fun part when I got to place the deer on the side of the road...and Simon making his own rules.  This brings back a fond memory of my Dad saying (every single time we saw a deer crossing sign), "I wonder how the deer know to cross here?"  He'd laugh at his own joke every time...now you know I came by it naturally.  We would just roll our eyes.

And the one deer comments Simon's errant ways, saying how he "buck's the system".  See what I did there?  Dad would be proud!

Inside, a sentiment to continue with the theme.

Another "animal" brad I particularly like is the Chicken brad and now the store has the companion Rooster brad.  If you missed it, here's a card I made using both.

Thank you for visiting with me today.  I love you all "deerly" ;-)

Less Work, More Cards

I don't think that I (Lauren) know anyone who has too much time on their hands. Especially crafters. Especially around the holidays! So I'm always excited when I stumble upon a way to make a whole bunch of cool Christmas cards at one sitting. In this case the trick was to combine premade mini journaling cards with Eyelet Outlet Brads!

My favorite thing about the pocket scrapbooking craze that hit a few years ago is the fact that nearly all the big paper companies started producing sheets made up of 12 or more little cards with sentiments and scaled-down designs right on them. These are such a boon for cardmakers as well as scrappers. This sheet from American crafts has three dozen 2x2" designs! Not only are they super cuuuuute, the scale is exactly right to add a lot of my favorite holiday styles of Eyelet Outlet brads. Before I cut into the paper, I sat down with my box of Christmas brads and laid out the ones I thought would look coolest. Then I snapped a quick photo with my phone, so I'd remember which ones to use where. Then I got to work separating the cards. Since this particular page was paper-weight, before I did anything else, I used my Xyron machine to cover an entire sheet of thin white cardstock with adhesive, and used it to back the page of cards. This made it a lot sturdier, and kept it from wrinkling when I set my brads.

My first two cards are classic A2's so I was able to fit four designs on each. On first I added a Christmas Cookie to the plate on the card, a Snowflake to the center of the red flower, I gave the cute printed snowman an awesome new Sled Brad to ride, and my adorable Mitten Brads were just a teeeeeeny bit bigger than the pair in the original design-- even the strings line up perfectly. I mounted the embellished cards to a mat of rich red and trimmed out with a strip of  Red Dots Washi and a little classic baker's twine.

For my second card I chose a beautiful prussian blue cardstock and grabbed that Red Dots tape again, with some velvet flower trim on top. I went vertical this time, though, and rounded the outer corners of the mini cards for a different look. It was easy to add a Cardinal to the sprig of holly, a Poinsettia Brad atop that yummy cupcake, a Holiday Tree and Snowman in front of the little trees, plus a very handsome Moose Brad to the florals surrounding the Merry Christmas banner.

For my third card I went long! At 4x8" this one will fit (with a little room to spare) in a #10 envelope. Or, if I add it to the front of a wrapped present, or slip it into a gift bag, I won't need an envelope at all. This time I chose three mini cards with white backgrounds, and got a little more imaginative with my additions. The Cardinal seems very much at home next to the globe, doesn't he? A Heart Brad is the perfect addition to a sprig of mistletoe, and a Prancing Deer was exactly the right touch for the pretty banner. I made mats for each card... and accented my ribbon tie... with some Glitter Copper Tape for extra sparkle.

I chose four kraft designs for the last card, but plussed up a bit to a 5x6" card (which will fit beautifully in an A7 envelope) to give them a little more breathing room. I embellished the elves' existing Hat and Candy Cane with EO brads in those designs, added a Holly Brad to the sprig of holly, covered the printed tree on top of the car with a (perfectly sized!) Pine Tree Brad and nestled a Poinsettia Brad into that little spray of flowers. I added two strips of Pine Tree Washi, a little red ribbon and one more Snowflake Brad and called it good!

I'm guessing you have plenty journal cards in your paper collection, and many of them are exactly the right size to coordinate with your favorite EO Brads! What's that? You don't have enough brads?! Well, this is a great time to hit the Thanksgiving Sale at the Online Store, where all brads and bling are 20% off when you use the code "turkeytrot"! Hurry though, the sale ends this Friday, Nov 17th! ♥

One Card Three Ways: Christmas Ornament Edition

Hi folks, it's Lauren here again. I'm starting to really think about Christmas and feeling pretty excited about finishing up my cards. I know most cardmakers like to mass-produce one holiday design, but I don't enjoy that so much. Something I don't mind, though, is making a couple of different versions of the same card. So today I have a set of ornaments that represent my three favorite categories of Eyelet Outlet products: BradsBling and Washi Tape!

For my Bling card I used some papers I had pre-painted with ColorBurst pigment powders, and used stencils with inks and embossing paste on top. I created the bauble shapes using some hand-cut ornament templates I made for myself a few years ago, but there are plenty of beautiful dies available to shortcut that procedure for you. I wanted to work in as many bling varieties as possible, so I've got Clear Edge JewelsSquare JewelsSingle JewelsSingle PearlsHeart Pearls and I've even used a bit of the new Fancy Long Bling on the round bauble, which I arranged as a mirror-image, then placed a few extra large Pearl Bling Jewels inside the openings created by the zig zag design. I made the tops of the ornaments from Glitter Silver Tape and constructed my own patterned paper by filling an A2-sized inset panel with Music Note Washi.

For my Brads card I pieced the ornaments from a neutral palette so the Christmas CookiesPoinsettia and Prancing Deer would stand out really well. I made the tops of the baubles from Glitter Gold Tape this time, to fit the color scheme better.

For the Tape card I chose bright shades of traditional red and green. I covered the bauble shapes with tape, then burnished well and trimmed them neatly. I used Holly Tape (with a small Paper Flower and Enamel Dot) for the heart ornament; Red Dots with an accent of Vertical Red Tree Tape for the elongated shape and highlighted strips of Merry Christmas Tape with an accent of that cute green Santa Tape sandwiched by Skinny Stripes Tape for the round shape.

Whether you like to make your holiday cards singly, all at once, or somewhere in between, I guarantee Eyelet Outlet has all kinds of embellishments that will make your job easier... and much more fun, too! ♥

Old Fashioned Christmas Cards

Hello Eyelet Outlet fans!  I'm here today with a pair of cards that were completed with no stamping.  I love to stamp and color but sometimes, especially at Christmas, it's nice to have a faster alternative.  Eyelet Outlet brads and washi to the rescue!

First up is Santa's List.  I love this old-fashioned looking Santa washi tape.

pine tree brad and a prancing reindeer add color and visual interest in keeping with the theme.

A cute sled brad and some music note washi are the perfect companions for this snowman.  I love the pop of orange and red together in the midst of the muted, more traditional Christmas colors.  This is a sentiment you've just gotta sing!
