Seashore Garden...

...is the name of this beautiful tape from Eyelet Outlet and the only thing I (Lauren) love more than the name is the tape itself!

The Seashore Garden Tape is interesting for its style as well as its look; instead of being a continuous long repeat, the design is actually six different boxes, in which there is a coordinating scene that has fish, sea creatures, shells, coral and flowers. So my first question was, "Do I use this in long strips, or do I cut it down and use the individual boxes?" but pretty quickly I realized the answer was: BOTH! For my first card, I made a note-quite-A2 sized background by lining up three strips of this inch-wide tape, which I matted on a panel of Glitter Copper Tape, mulberry cardstock and a soft mottled lavender paper. I diecut and matted an oval, as well as a strip to hold my Lawn fawn stamped sentiment, "I *sea* it's your birthday". I filled the oval with some trout from the Trout and Bass Brads and accessorized with Shell Corner Brads as well as starfish and sand dollars from the Sea Shore Brad Set

For my second card, I applied a long strip of Seashore Garden Tape to plain white cardstock, then trimmed it down into the six individual boxes that make up the entire design. I matted each one on a rich kraft cardstock, scattered some TroutShell CornerSea Shore and Shell Brads to a few of the squares and affixed them to a white A6 card with a torn bit of the leftover lavender paper from the first card.

I love that both of these cards use ALL the same ingredients... but each is quite unique! I'm anxious to try this two-fer method on some of our other Eyelet Outlet Washi Tapes.

Making Magic

Would this be a good time for a little bit of magic, in greeting card form? Yes, I (Lauren) thought so too. Luckily I had my Eyelet Outlet Wizard Set Brads ready to go!

The Wizard Set comes with wands, glasses and two different scarves. I've used the glasses and the mustard colored scarf above my computer generated sentiment, along with one of two styles of lightning from the Wizard Hat and Lightning Bolt Brads. The hat itself is towards the bottom of the card, clustered with the wand and a Sketched Owl Brad. My background is matted on Star Gold Tape with an accent of Copper Foil Tape embellished with Glitter Copper Tape.

For my second card, I used the Wizard Hat again, without the lightning; and a wand from the Wizard Set, which is conjuring up some "magic" that I've depicted with Clear Swirl Bling snipped apart and rebuilt into a shape that fit around my sentiment a bit better, augmented with a few silver Star Sequins. I've got two glittery mats this time, one of wider blue Glitter Star Tape and one of Glitter Silver Stars Tape.

I've made both sentiments into jpgs which you can right-click and save; they will also be on the Freebies Page for you to come back for later.

I hope you'll be inspired to use your favorite Eyelet Outlet goodies to whip up a little magic for your family and friends! ♥

It's a Jungle Out There...

...but here on the Eyelet Outlet Blog I (Lauren) am WILD about zoo-themed journal cards paired with our Lion, Tiger and Zebra Brads, not to mention their adorable friends, the Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey Brads. Oh and there are some awesome coordinating tapes, too. See?

I've mentioned before how much I love journaling cards, they are really hard to beat for quick, beautiful designs. This particular set, from Photoplay's "We Bought a Zoo" collection is especially fun and perfect with both the original Jungle Mix Brads as well as the second Jungle-themed set. For my first card I cropped the journal card down a bit to remove a (very cute) monkey image so that I could add a Monkey Brad instead. I made a fun coordinating background by neatly lining up strips of Safari Tape on plain white cardstock to make my own custom patterned paper.

On the "Wild One" card, some handsome Elephant and Giraffe Brads are greeting a very regal Lion Brad. I made a mat from glorious Sparkle Copper Foil Tape and another bespoke patterned paper background using a beautiful Sunset Safari Tape that's so new it isn't quiiiiite in the store yet!

The "Wild Side" journal card was 4 x6" so I needed to trim it down a bit. I added a strip of Safari Tape across the bottom and added a mat made from beautiful Leopard-ish Animal Print Tape, then added a Monkey Brad, as well as a Zebra and a Lion.

Never forget: if you don't have time to MONKEY around, EO Jungle Brads and coordinating tapes make cardmaking a ROARING success... and I ain't LION! :) :) :)

Congrats w/Washi

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a super easy and super fun graduation card!

I started with some wide star washi for this card, laying it out diagonally over a white piece of cardstock. Then I used some Glitter Black Washi Tape and Glitter Copper Washi Tape to make matching bands to cover the rest of the white cardstock piece! I actually used 2 strips of black, and then 2 strips of copper... using just 1 strip was too thin in my opinion.

All this card needed after that was this nice "congrats" sentiment and then it was done! The shine is just gorgeous and I absolutely love how it came out!! And the awesome thing is that you can't really even see the seams between washi strips... it just looks like that's the pattern on the paper itself!!

Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon!!

lovies, =o) kel

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like...

...Brand new Eyelet Outlet Christmas goodies!!! Ok, technically the Truck Brads and the Pine Tree Brads (and even the Moose Brads) that I (Lauren) am showing off could be used for all kinds of things, in any season. But if you pair them with some EO Holiday Tapes and add in Christmassy images, they really do ROCK the holiday, don't you think?

My first card was made possible by the fact that my friend Anna just happened to give me the perfect rubber stamp-- it's the house image with the sentiment inside it. Just to the left of the house the stamp has a small evergreen, which immediately made me think, "That would be even cooler with one of the new Pine Tree Brads!" ...a decision I stand by, completely! Once I added it, I realized that the Truck Brad was fairly proportional to the scene, and a Red Heart Pearl would be a little big, but still work. The Snowman Brad was a late edition, but he kind of makes the card, don't you think?

Then all I needed to do was choose coordinating papers. But midway through that process, I realized that I could make my own, using some of my favorite Xmas tapes, so that's what I did! I used the Wide Tree Tape and Merry Christmas Washi on my finished card, but while I was on a roll (for once the pun is unintentional, I swear!) I made additional A2-sized panels using Holly TapePine Tree Bough Tape, and Tree Tape. One of my favorite things about making Washi Paper like this is that it turns out with a lot of tapes, the edges of the designs can be made to line up seamlessly if you just look carefully and apply the tape very neatly. If you look closely at the holly paper and the trees paper, you'll see what I mean. Of course, you don't have to do that to get a great look, but it's a cool "extra" feature!

For my second card I used regular patterned papers, but my focal image is a sepia-toned landscape from an old Ideals Magazine. As soon as I saw it, I thought the scale would be pretty good to put a Truck in the foreground, carrying home the family Christmas tree. To draw even more attention to the brads, I framed the arched window with Champagne Bling Strips and added a band of Glitter Copper Tape at the bottom.

My third card is a bit of a cheat, in that the layers of diecut trees and hills were actually the "extras" from another card that had a few growing pains, lol. But when I stacked them all together, I really liked the look, so I added a paper-pieced house, some Pine Tree Brads and I couldn't resist that adorable Moose

It's definitely not too early to start thinking about holiday cards, and the Eyelet Outlet store is a great place to find all the bradsbling and tape you could possibly need! (They make pretty fabulous gifts, as well!) (Just sayin'...) ♥

Love You a Latte

It's the middle of September, which means it's time for the Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop, and since I (Lauren) have the *PERFECT* ingredients-- Eyelet Outlet Coffee Brads-- I'm excited to jump on board.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Autumn: cooler temperatures, beautiful colors as the foliage here in the Northeast changes, and yes, a delicious warm caffeinated beverage are all things I enjoy, so I've tried to capture them in my card. I started by adorning the oversized copper "LOVE" diecut with a few paper flowers and the adorable Coffee Brads. I wanted to emphasize the sentiment a little bit more, so I added a couple of Pearl Hearts to the cups. Did you know that you can create your own custom bling and pearls, just by coloring them with alcohol ink markers? Thus I was able to make mine the perfect shade of golden yellow to coordinate with the diecut vintage paper leaves I had watercolored with all my favorite fall shades of ColorBurst.

When it came time to build the card, I lined up some neat strips of Wide Brick WashiGlitter Copper and Skinny Orange Tape so that I would have the perfect home for my compound sentiment. And whereas I may be the only coffee-loving American who doesn't love Pumpkin Spice flavoring in my coffee, that doesn't mean I don't love to mix a few Pumpkin Brads with my Coffee Brads, lol!

I always start with a slightly bigger background than I think I'm going to need, so I don't run out of room. In this case, I wound up with a 3x6" offcut of woodgrain paper with the beautiful layers of tape, which seemed like the perfect size to make an extra little tag!

A few more leaves, a heart diecut, some smaller alphas and another Coffee + Pumpkin Brad pairing and I was good to go!

is looking forward to cool weather
and warm drinks this autumn!
