Ahoy Matey! by Janet

Hello my fine feathered friends! Have you checked out the new brad sets in the store lately? I used the Tropical Bird set on this square card to embellish a 3D pirate sticker I picked up at the Dollar Tree.

I combined other nautical themed brads to take this card to the next level. In addition to brads, I used the wide Sea Washi tape in the background and Copper washi tape as a border.

Happy New Year

Ready or not, 2020 is upon us! I'm celebrating the New Year with this card featuring Champagne brads from Eyelet Outlet's Wedding Brads Set.

I recently discovered the fun of using foil HTV on card stock. That's right!  Iron-on isn't just for fabric!  The flourishes and the year "2020" are done with foil iron-on and I accentuated the opposite corners with some Eyelet Outlet foil washi tape.  And what's a little bubbly without some stick on pearls and gems for bubbles?

Thanks for stopping in today and watch for some great new products from Eyelet Outlet in 2020!

If the crown fits...

The patterned paper behind the main panel is a floral washi tape...
so is the gold/white foil on the banner.

Had a big busy, fun weekend at the Great Lakes Mega Meet in
Novi, MI with so many, many Eyelet Outlet Fans!

Here are two examples using the new Crown and Tiara Brads!

Here I used the pink tiara...along with gold foil to match the foiled patterned paper.
The fancy long bling makes a great statement on your cards and scrapbook pages!

This weekend,
we'll be in Orlando, FL
Check out all our 12 new brads styles along with matching washi tape!
They will be available on our store website soon.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Paris is Always a Good Idea... or Two!

The only "problem" with Eyelet Outlet Eiffel Tower Brads is that each pack comes with six bright silver Eiffel Towers and six anodized copper ones. And since I (Lauren) can never decide which to use, I nearly always wind up making two cards. Like these:

This time I used one of the copper brown Eiffel Tower Brads first, because I knew how beautifully it would pair with the Vertical Eiffel Tower Tape I've used in the background. I couldn't resist adding a strip of this pretty new Gold Foil XO Tape, as well as a couple of Anodized Stars and a Compass Brad.

Obviously, I couldn't leave out the pretty silver Eiffel Tower Brads, so my second card features one of those on top of a trimmed down journal card that reads, "Paris is Always a Good Idea". I added a few strips of pretty pink foil Rose Washi Tape on the pink notebook paper panel, and a couple of Heart Brads to finish off my design.

Of course, both of these ideas would also work really well in a travel journal, or to scrapbook a trip to Paris; but until I have occasion for either of those, I'll just keep making cards! ♥

has not been to Paris...
yet!!!

It's Always Summer Somewhere

Are you ready for another Instagram hop? This time Eyelet Outlet is pairing up with The Project Bin for a hop. It won't be long. In fact, the Instagram hop starts at 9:00 AM today, so by the time you see this, it just might be time. The hop will start on Instagram at Eyelet Outlet.

Both design teams are participating. If you will follow each of them and leave a comment on each hop post, you will be entered to win one of two prizes! The Project Bin and Eyelet Outlet are both giving away a $25 gift certificate. Winners will be chosen randomly and posted by May 25th.

Oh my goodness, I couldn't be  more excited about this.

For my card, I went to one of my most favorite places in the whole world...

THE BEACH!

Eyelet Outlet Products:

and

I used the Washi Tape to create the water. I tore one edge of the center pieces to give it the look of subtle waves.

But you don't want to head to the beach! You want to go to Instagram for the hop. Remember, there are FANTASTIC PRIZES to be won!

Totally Do-NUTS About You!

Let's face it, doughnuts are awesome. In real life, they're not something most of us can have in unlimited quantities, which is why I (Lauren) am always thrilled to break out the Eyelet Outlet Doughnut Brads: they're fat-free, calorie-free, and full of cardmaking possibilities!

Since we're in the middle of January, I think we're all sort of in Valentine mode, so I've made three cards that would work perfectly for the holiday, but aren't too specifically Valentine-ish. Because it's nice to have choices, right? The first one actually has hearts on it, but that was mostly because I love the colors of this Skinny Heart Tape with the Doughnut Brad that I've swapped in for the "O". I swapped a Heart Brad for the entire word "heart", as well, which makes my sentiment fit really nicely inside the label shape. I'm always on the lookout for papers with strong, straight horizontal lines in them. Ledger and notebook patterns not only look great, they're a great helping hand for placing my tape stripes neatly in the background!

One of the reasons I chose this colorful Dot Washi Tape is that it kind of reminded me of rainbow sprinkles, which are awesome with Doughnut Brads, don't you think? I made my background patterned paper by neatly lining up strips of the tape on a piece of plain white cardstock that I'd cut down to fit perfectly on my A2 card front. This time I moved the sentiment panel off to the right side of the card, but balanced it out by placing the letters towards the left side of the label.

I love pastel pink as much (or MORE, lol!) as anyone I know, but for my third card I chose to celebrate the chocolate Doughnut Brad. I made a background panel from Pink and White Dot Foil Tape, which I revealed unevenly by tearing some dark brown dotted cardstock... a bit like peeling the wrapper of a candy bar! I composed my sentiment with oversized vinyl letters and trimmed-down Dymo labels; and added a few strips of Skinny Brown Glitter Tape just behind the word "donut" for even more emphasis.

I hope your day has included both creativity and treats... the Eyelet Outlet Store is a pretty good place to find both of those! ♥

enjoys the occasional donut,
don't you?

Many Multi-Layer Mandalas

Hi folks, it's Lauren here again! I was lucky enough to receive some incredibly cool layered mandala dies for my birthday, from my friend and fellow Eyelet Outlet designer Stephanie Severin, and of course my first thought was: how cool they would look when paired with Eyelet Outlet bradswashi tape and paper flowers! Here are a couple of cards that I think prove my point, lol:

My first idea was to cut each layer of the mandala in a different color, and reassemble them all using classic small 1/8" Round Brads and teeny 1/16" Round Brads as accents. Luckily both varieties come in loads of beautiful colors, so I had plenty of choice. As I was stacking up the embellished layers, I noticed that the smallest and largest of my Purple Paper Flowers were the perfect size to be incorporated into the design, and they added even more color and texture! When I was assembling the finished card, I realized that the one thing that was missing was *SPARKLE* so I added a border of Skinny Glitter Washi Tape to the mat under my mandala, and it was the perfect accent!

My second card was inspired by the leftover mandala layers, and how much I loved mixing them with the Paper FlowersI started stacking them in different combinations, and instead of using the center from the die, I grabbed these fun Daisy Flower Brads, which are rather mandala-like, don't you think? I added Champagne Swirl Bling (though there were actually quite a few colors which looked equally cool!) and some Foil Dots Tape and called it good.

I hope you'll be inspired to look at your dies --and your EO Brads!-- and see lots of new possibilities. Meanwhile, there are always loads of ideas here on the Eyelet Outlet Blog. Why not scroll down and see what my Wednesday partner Carri is up to today? ♥

has a bit of a thing about mandalas,
as you can see from even a brief visit to her blog!

Washi Tape Envelopes

Washi Tape is a fun and easy way to decorate the envelopes for your cards.

I buy an assortment of envelopes from everywhere from discount stores to the local printing business.  I love fun colors, but you can make them even more fun with some Washi Tape.

For the tan envelope, I just wrapped the Wide Pineapple Washi Tape around the bottom of the envelope.  If you're going to mail these, make sure you wrap in the direction that the auto-feeder will be least likely to catch your edge and don't finish on the edge that goes first into the feeder.

For the navy envelopes, I folded the Copper Dots Foil Washi Tape (it looks so elegant with navy) in half around all of the edges and then trimmed each end.  When you do the flap, you just need to trim rather than fold, so you don't cover up the adhesive.

One trick I learned with the more solid washi tapes is to tear the piece of tape and place it adhesive-side-up, so you can center it more easily for folding around the edges.  With the more translucent tapes it's easier to see the envelope edge.

Another trick I use with washi tape, is always to burnish with my Teflon bone folder after adhering to get a really solid adhesion.

For the yellow envelope, I thought it looked awesome wrapped with a few strips of the Wine Washi Tape.

And I love the look of the orange envelope wrapped (folded in half like the navy one) with the Wide Floral Washi Tape.

Go look through your Washi Tape collection and see what fun color & pattern combinations you can make.
