Sweet as Cherries

Still preparing for Valentines Day and almost have all my cards
to send to the senior living center. This is a cute one featuring
the fabulous cherry brads from Eyelet Outlet. I had the stamp from
Unity Stamps and they worked great with the embellishments.

I used a circular card and placed multi dot washi paper in the
background. I also had these fun heart sticky gems
from Eyelet Outlet. They add a great
sparkly touch.

Here is your shopping list from Eyelet Outlet:

Looking forward to seeing you again next week - keep creating!

Be My Valentine!

I love creating little Valentine's to share with friends and family!

I have created a selection of Valentine's that would be great to slip in your child's lunchbox or mail to a friend! I loved adding the adorable accessories, brads, and bling from Eyelet Outlet!

In creating the tag style bookmark valentine, I stamped my kitten image and colored in with alcohol markers. I then added the purple pearls across the top and cut the paw to add a heart enamel sticker! For the second valentine in this picture, I stamped my mouse and used chalks to color her in. I then added a row of heart enamel stickers with one sparkly, jewel heart!

In creating the "bumble bee valentine", I stamped my image in black ink, colored with alcohol markers, and added some sparkle to her wings! I then used the bumble bee brads to embellish the bottom corner. Lastly, the "wildthing" valentine card just makes me smile!! So fun! I stamped my sentiment and gorilla in black and colored in using alcohol markers. For my embellishments I used the monkey brads from the jungle pack and added enamel heart stickers!

I hope you have found some inspiration to make your own valentine cards this month for those you love! Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to shop at Eyelet Outlet for your crafting needs!

Bring On the Bling!

It's no secret that I (Lauren) looooove Eyelet Outlet Bling... the fancier the better! But this is the first time I've used it to create a compound mandala shape. Pretty sure it will not be the last, however.

I started with an XL (2") Snowflake in the center of my 6" square pan pastel gelprint. At the end of each "arm" of the snowflake, I added one Heart Jewel Bling, facing outwards. Then I placed a smaller 1.5" Snowflake between each pair of hearts, to be like a second round of arms. Finally I added a clear Teardrop Gem at the top of each heart. Et voila!

Remember when I said I was pretty sure you'll see this idea revisited? Well I take it back. Because I'm not pretty sure... I'm positive!

would happily play with
bling all day long.

Whole Lotta Love

Something I (Lauren) didn't realize until I was loading up my photos, is that I have not used any Eyelet Outlet Brads this week. *HOW* did that happen?! I have, however, used plenty of blingtape, and enamels along with a super-useful mason jar stamp and die set, to make two fun Valentines.

I don't make nearly enough shaker cards. Which is weird because any time I do make them, I really love the results. In this case, I used the mason jar die to cut the shape from my top layer of paper and backed it with clear plastic that I saved from some packaging. I used several layers of foam tape to make an extra deep pocket, so that I could use Heart Jewel Bling as my shaker contents. To do so, I had to carefully peel the adhesive off each heart, so they'd be able to move around without getting stuck. An alternative is just to cover the adhesive backing liberally with powder or cornstarch, thus neutralizing it. (FYI: This works on stickers, too!) I "labeled" the jar with clear Heart Bling, made a mat with my favorite henna-inspired Wide Flower Washi Tape and called it good to go!

For my second card, I used Staz-On ink to stamp the mason jar onto a piece of plain cardstock which I'd made into a fun patterned paper by neatly lining up strips of Love Tape. I filled the jar with yellow and red Heart Enamels and mounted it on another tape-centric "paper" which is composed of Heart Washi and Skinny Red Dots Tape, placed at regular intervals on a piece of graph paper.

I hope you'll be inspired to find fun new ways to combine your favorite stamp and die sets with beautiful Eyelet Outlet embellishments!

Wink Wink

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with my final Valentine's Card and possibly my favorite of the three I made this year.  I used several kinds of bling on this card; Heart Jewel Bling, Red Jewel Multi-Sized Bling, the smallest red bling from the Fancy Long Bling and the red marquis shaped bling from the Holiday Flower set.

The card base was cut using the file purchased in the Silhouette store.  I adapted the card base to create the label for the greeting.  The eyeglasses are also a Silhouette store cut file.
The patterned paper, retired Stampin' Up, was a great match.  Words of love, but rather reminds me of an eye test, too.

Here's a closer look at the eyeglasses and all that luscious bling.

Inside, a little play on words and the Eyeglasses Brads to complete the look.

Did you see my first two Valentine's Day cards?  If not, you can link to them here and here.

Heart Strings

Hi there.  It's Kim from Katydid Cards.

As card makers, we're busy doing Merry & Bright in October.  And we're ringing in the New Year in November.  So it should come as no surprise we've been thinking about Valentine's Day even before we put away the Christmas decorations and make (and sometimes already break) our New Year's resolutions.

Here's the first of several cards I'll be sharing with you to help celebrate matters of the heart.  This type of card is an X-Fold.  To create a custom opening for the Heart Jewel Bling, I scanned one of the hearts and imported it into my Silhouette design screen.  I offset it three times; once for the white heart mat, one for the red heart mat and then the third offset was used to create the opening in the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" rectangle.

I cut four of the rectangles and scored them down the center.  I made one more offset of the rectangle and hearts to create the patterned paper panel.  The dots offered an opportunity to randomly place Red Jewel Bling.

I attached each of six hearts to the white mat to have hearts on both sides of the red mat.  Each was then attached to a red mat.  I lined up one set of three inside the opening of one of the rectangle panels.  When centered, I attached white bakers twine down the center back.  Then I flipped them over and aligned the second set, securing the baker's twine inside.

I attached the baker's twine on the back of the first folded rectangle panel.  Then I attached each panel back to back to create the X.  Here's a look down from the top to see the "X" effect.  To finish, I created the greeting banner to run down the front.  I have a similar blank panel on the back for a personal sentiment.

Next week I'll share another Valentine's Card.  And here's a link to another card I made using the Heart Jewel Bling if you care to check it out.

A Perfect Pair!

TGIF crafty friends!  Susie here today with a wedding card featuring the new Playing Cards Stamp set!

When I saw the stamp set I knew immediately that I would create a fun and different wedding card using the "perfect pair" sentiment.

The stamp set works perfectly with the Playing Card Brads.  I selected a king and queen card and overlapped them on the front panel of the card, adding a heart jewel to reinforce the love/couple theme.

The front of the card is actually a flap.  It is held closed by a 12mm jewel brad.

Since it is placed to just cover the edge of the flap it easily slips out and opens...

... to reveal a perfect spot for writing a personal note and maybe attaching a photo or gift card!

Eyelet Outlet created 16 stamp sets that coordinate beautifully with our most popular brads.  Card making has never been easier!  You can see all of the new stamp sets HERE

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Washi Tape Easter Eggs

Earlier this month, I made this fun card for the January release at Technique Junkies using the new I Woof You Stamp together with lots of awesome Eyelet Outlet Washi Tape and Heart Bling.

I had several leftover ovals that I cut out to form the frame, and they reminded me of Easter Eggs, so those oval cuts are what I used for today's cards (a 2 for 1 design so-to-speak).

I added a heart bling to the Easter Egg and two vintage wooden stamped sentiments from my collection.

The next card featured a larger oval cut, so I added the sentiment across the center of my Easter Egg with more heart bling.

These cards will be perfect to accompany Easter gifts to my nieces and nephews.

I'd love to see you use your oval cutters or punches with some washi tape to make your own custom designed Easter Eggs.

Bling on the Hearts

Hello, everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with a wish for the happiest of holidays to each and every one of you!

It seems odd, I know, to be posting with Valentine's Day cards before Christmas!  But, as card makers, we need to be ahead of the curve if we want to get all the supplies to make those cards and get them out in time, right?

Speaking of supplies, have you seen the new Heart Jewel Bling at Eyelet Outlet yet?  It's so pretty!  And there are so many other products in the store with hearts from which to choose.  Here's the whole list!

Today I'm using the Heart Jewel Bling I mentioned above on two cards.  My first card features the hearts as balloons held by a little bear.  Additionally, I used Red Jewel Bling across the top.  See the little "pull" tab at the top of his head?

When you pull on it, he looks like he's soaring.  He slides up a secret invisible track, a secret which I'm going to share with you!  Look for Slider Mechanism on the Freebies page.

Here's a closer look at the balloons and you can just make out the slits cut in the patterned paper from the I {Heart} You kit by TheDigiChick.  The bear is from Paper Crafting World.  I changed it to mirror the shape of the hearts.

And here's the sentiment which plays off the high-flying bear.  I used the Heart Pearls-Sticky Back as an accent.

My next card suspends the hearts on clear thread.  The threads are secured between the mats and the card front.   The sentiment plays off the hearts suspended on the thread.

Since you can see the hearts from both sides of the aperture, I placed another heart directly over the back.  This keeps them nice and snug on the thread while looking great from both sides as they dance on the thread.

Inside, a continuation of the thought.  I made use of the negative space after cutting the aperture my sentiment and mat.

That's all for today.  I'm off to finish wrapping my presents.

Cinema: Admit One

I love going to the movies!  It has been a couple of months since we've been because we all seem to all be going in different directions with hectic schedules, especially since school started again.  I'm hoping to go soon to see the one with Judi Dench.  I love her!

Our new movie brads and this retro designer paper are what inspired today's card.

I adhered some wide ticket washi tape to some white card stock and bordered it with some skinny washi tape, adding a little red pearl heart and a tiny red bow because that little bit of red in the washi tape design caught my eye.

Don't you adore these brads?!  Against some black, white and retro they really stand out!

Inside there's a little heart jewel bling atop black and white layers for another pop of color.

Happy Friday!  Have a great weekend!
