Nature Tag

Sorry that today's post is a little late. I've been busy this week working on stuff to get ready for the new school year. (I can't believe it's almost here!)

The card I made today is for the current CR84FN Challenge. Check out the lovely inspiration.

DEEtails:

I started by recreating a tag from the inspiration pic. I stamped the image from SU!'s Nature Walk in Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz and cut it out. I adhered it to a tag from my stash, embellished with a strip of Wisteria Wonder card stock and some gray and white Baker's Twine. Then I stamped the number, also from Nature Walk, directly onto the tag in Going Gray ink. For my background, I punched the top edge of some Certainly Celery card stock with the Scallop Trim Border and adhered a piece of Designer Paper Patterns in Wisteria Wonder that I tore along the bottom. I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Think Big Favorite #2 and added my tag with some Stampin' Dimensionals.

Thanks for peeking in today!

Pottery Barn Card Series Part 4

Part 4 of my card series showcases a fun little nest! Check out the Pottery Barn inspiration below:

DEEtails:

I started by adhering a part of a book page to a Night of Navy card. Then I adhered my stamped Daffodil Delight Decorative Label and an image from SU!'s Nature Walk set. Then I made my nest with some thin strips of Crumb Cake layered and adhered onto a 1 1/4" circle. Then I stamped some eggs from the Nature Walk set on some Baja Breeze card stock. Hope you like it!

Don't forget to join my I {Heart} Ribbon Challenge! You have one more week!

Flying By To Say Thank You

Today's card is for the Embellish Magazine Color Trends Challenge with Birds. This challenge is absolutely perfect for me, given my fondness of birds and neutrals. But, it was actually pretty difficult for me to come up with something. I finally put this card together and am loving it!

Here are the DEEtails:

First let me explain that when I first saw the challenge, I thought the blue was much darker. This is the reason why I used Not Quite Navy in my card, rather than something like Brocade Blue. Oops! I started off with a Crumb Cake card (my favorite) and layered on some embellishments - a die cut embellishment, meant to look like an old letter, an MS doily inked in brown, and a sentiment from SU!'s Bella Blossoms set in Not Quite Navy on Crumb Cake, punched out with the Decorative Label punch. Then I stamped the bird from SU!'s Notably Ornate set in VersaMark, embossed, and adhered him with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a piece of DSP from the Neutrals Collection, wrapped with Early Espresson Satin and Kraft Taffeta ribbons. Then I stamped the birdcage from SU!'s Nature Walk in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla card stock and added it to the card with some Stampin' Dimensionals. I love the look of tying on a piece of Linen Thread to the top of the cage. I tucked in some brown blooms from my stash for a little more texture and dimension. Hope you like it!

Lovely Lace

This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge is Those Were the Days (Vintage Inspiration). I'm not exactly sure how to convey the vintage look, so I pulled together things that seemed old and rusty (bird cage), distressed and stained (doily), and a little granny-ish (flowers and crochet lace). What do you think?

Here are the DEEtails:

I started with a pretty piece of Springtime Vintage DSP and rounded the corners. I layered on a doily that was distressed with ink and a piece of Very Vanilla with more rounded corners. I stamped the SU! Elizabeth image and added a piece of Victoria crochet lace. Then I stamped the bird cage image from SU!'s Nature Walk set, cut it out and tied some Linen Thread to it. For a final touch, I added a Vintage Flower Adornment. Hope you like it!

Calm and Collected (and a Little Crazy)

I'm not gonna lie, I'm totally in love with this card right now...

Want DEEtails?

I stamped the image from Nature Walk onto some Natural White card stock in Crumb Cake ink, then I used my Blender Pen to add a tiny bit of color to my eggs (Mellow Moss, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, & Blush Blossom). An extra layer of Natural White card stock and I was done! Ahhh... :)

I love how simple, calm, and collected this card is. I need that today since this week has been a little crazy. We finally got a new TV and set it up last weekend. Nothing fancy, but it sure is a step up from our 13-incher that it replaced. Plunking down money for a new TV is a hard concept for me since I'm not a big TV watcher. We had a pretty decent one a while back, but when that broke, we moved our tiny TV from the bedroom (the same one I've had since High School!) into our living room. After several months of a 13" screen, I finally caved and we decided to buy something bigger. I must say, I'm pretty pleased with the investment and it's quite apparent what 10+ years of technology can do.

I think the TV came just in time, because shortly after we set it up, Hubby got super sick and had a 103* fever for a couple of days. His fever finally broke on Thursday morning and he's slowly recovering. Trying to balance taking care of him, the dog, and the house, while keeping up with my job and and all my extra stuff (tutoring, band, cards, blogging, etc) has been interesting. Let's just say I'm not very strong in the domestic department, so the first three on this list were a bit out of my element. Yet, we all managed to survive... amazingly. Poor Hubby's meals consisted of oatmeal, soup, and tea for several days, since my cooking is limited to adding simple things to boiling water... It's a wonder how he is managing to feel better. Just the thought of it makes me feel weak. In case you were wondering, I lived off of bagels, salami, cookies, and the same soup - but at least I had some substance. Sad, I know... Glad that's over. :)

By the way, there's still lots of time to enter my Inspire DEE challenge. I hope you'll join me! :)
